Chapter 1045: Myanmar Gold Panning
Xu Damao absolutely did not believe He Yuzhu's rhetoric and insisted on verifying it himself. Without another word, he snatched up his phone and called his assistant, telling someone outside to buy a mirror and send it in.
Hu Bayi laughed from the side until he couldn't close his mouth: "Damao, why are you so concerned about your face as soon as you start dating young women?"
Xu Damao waved his hand: "I think this medicine is simply miraculous; my body feels so comfortable, especially that place, it's extremely refreshing. But to say it can turn back my looks, I really don't believe it. I have to see this old face of mine with my own eyes."
He Yuzhu raised his leg and kicked him in the butt: "You brat, you've never believed anyone since you were a kid, damn it!"
Xu Damao wasn't annoyed and muttered: "The human heart is treacherous. My dad taught me since I was little that you have to keep your guard up in everything. Otherwise, you'd be sold and still be counting the money for them!"
Hu Bayi smiled and tried to smooth things over: "Alright, alright, it's not easy for us brothers to get together today, so we have to have a good drink no matter what. Master He, do you agree?"
He Yuzhu nodded. Come to think of it, he really hadn't had many chances to hang out and drink with friends over these years. He had known these people for quite a while, especially Hu Bayi, whom he got along with well, so he readily agreed.
The group didn't go out; they set up a table in a private room at the pharmaceutical factory's cafeteria.
The dishes were freshly stir-fried by the cafeteria chef, and the liquor was brought out by He Yuzhu from his car—several bottles of 1950s Moutai.
Hu Bayi held a bottle, turning it over and over to look at it, clicking his tongue: "Master He, you are truly wealthy. Do you keep Moutai in your car trunk every day?"
He Yuzhu laughed: "Who told me to be the Chamber of Commerce President! Those are all people of status and reputation; if I don't bring out some good liquor, they'll think I look down on them!"
Xu Damao, however, put away his playful expression and looked serious: "Zhuzi, I'm going to be thick-skinned and ask you one thing today—is this medicine really worth two hundred million US dollars?"
He Yuzhu glanced at him sideways and cursed: "Do you think I have the leisure to lie to you about something like that, damn it?"
Xu Damao rubbed his hands: "You also know that my Siqiang and my senior brother are gone, right? They left behind quite a few good things, calligraphy, paintings, jade, and so on. I just want to ask, can those things be traded?"
Dajinya exploded upon hearing this: "Junior Uncle, you really aren't a human being! You wouldn't even let me take a look at the items your Siqiang left behind, but now you're willing to shell them out to buy medicine?"
"As long as I can become young, except for my wife whom I'm embarrassed to sell, I can sell anything else," Xu Damao said.
He Yuzhu sipped his wine and said: "Ancient paintings are hard to liquidate. If it's good jade with the right quality, like those two pieces you gave me before, that might be close enough."
Upon hearing this, Xu Damao's eyes widened even further; he had always been brooding over that incident. "Zhuzi, tell me the truth. That time I went to the station, the thing my mother gave you that looked like a dragon head, was it worth a lot of money?"
He Yuzhu laughed, a meaningful laugh: "Damao, that thing was indeed valuable. As of now, it's enough to buy five bottles of Immortal Water."
Xu Damao's eyes suddenly went round, and his voice rose: "Zhuzi, this isn't fair of you!"
He Yuzhu continued to laugh: "In your antique trade, isn't 'getting fooled' the most common thing? You thought it wasn't worth much at the time, but it became valuable in my hands; can you go back on that now?"
Dajinya also hurriedly chimed in: "Exactly! Didn't you say yourself that as long as it can make you young, you'd sell anything? My Zhuzi has already made you young, and you're still brooding over an item you gave someone once! Besides, our antique trade doesn't dig up old accounts, right?"
Xu Damao was choked up and didn't make a sound for a long time. After a while, he said: "Zhuzi, I actually want to get another bottle. Can I take you to see my Warehouse another day? See what things can be traded for a bottle of Immortal Water?"
He Yuzhu spat out four words: "The rarest pieces; if you have jade or emeralds like that, the possibility of trading for a bottle is very high."
Wang Pangzi's eyes lit up, and he immediately leaned in: "Master He, to tell you the truth, there's a kid from Myanmar who has been looking for me lately. He's someone we knew back when we were doing Doudao in Yunnan. He said he has a lot of good emeralds in his hands and, knowing I've made some money, he keeps asking if I'm buying. Master He, why don't we take a trip to Myanmar?"
He Yuzhu thought for a moment and nodded: "Sure, it just so happens I don't have anything urgent lately."
The reason He Yuzhu agreed to this was that his system hadn't been upgraded for a long time, and he had now opened the Time and Space Gate. It was simply too expensive. He wanted to know if it would be cheaper after the upgrade.
Hu Bayi frowned: "So, if we all leave, who will manage this pharmaceutical factory?"
He Yuzhu waved his hand: "Hey, we're only going for a few days, not going far. By the time the equipment is calibrated, we'll be back."
Upon hearing that they were going to Myanmar to look for jade, Xu Damao felt a bit nervous and dawdled: "How about you brothers go; I'll stay here and keep an eye on things."
He Yuzhu laughed and patted him on the shoulder: "Don't be like that, let's go together, it'll be much more lively!"
The group toasted each other and drank until late at night, all of them swaying and slurring their words.
He Yuzhu braced himself against the table to stand up, waved his hand, and said: "You all prepare well. The morning after tomorrow, we'll take a plane over."
Hu Bayi nodded, his head so heavy it almost hit the table.
Xu Damao, with a red face, leaned over and grabbed He Yuzhu's arm: "Zhuzi, why don't you go take a look at my Warehouse tomorrow? In case that pile of stuff of mine can really trade for a bottle of Immortal Water, I won't have to go on this trip with you guys."
He Yuzhu shook his head: "I'm busy these two days. I have to transport the equipment to the factory and let Factory Director Luo and the others calibrate it first. Once we get back, won't the pharmaceutical factory be able to start production officially?"
Wang Pangzi chimed in from the side: "Exactly, exactly. Damao, stop dawdling. Will you lose a piece of meat by coming along?"
The next day, He Yuzhu went to the East Suburb Warehouse. He took the pharmaceutical equipment he had scavenged from various countries out of his space one by one and stacked them neatly in the Warehouse. Then, he handed several core pharmaceutical formulas to Fang Deng.
Fang Deng held the stack of documents, her eyes shining like lightbulbs: "Dad, with these things, our family won't have to worry for the rest of our lives!"
He Yuzhu laughed: "It seems you and Doctor really aren't the same type of person. When he saw these things, it was like touching a hot potato, but in your hands, they've become treasures."
Fang Deng sighed: "Who told them to have such a 'red and proper' background? As soon as they entered school, they were the mayor's daughter and the student council president; their ideology is different from mine."
He Yuzhu waved his hand: "These medicine formulas all belong to you now. From now on, you and He Xiao will be in control."
Fang Deng's eyes widened: "Dad, are you really willing to give all these prescriptions to the two of us?"
He Yuzhu looked indifferent: "What's this? It's just a small favor."
The next day, after He Yuzhu had settled the matters of the pharmaceutical factory, he took Xu Damao, Hu Bayi, and Wang Pangzi on a flight to Myanmar.
When the plane landed and the group had just walked out of the airport, they saw a thin, dark man wearing a big gold chain and with flower tattoos on his arms coming up to meet them, his face full of smiles.
As soon as He Yuzhu saw him, he felt something was wrong. He lowered his voice and said: "You guys haven't been scammed, have you! This kid doesn't look like a good person!"
