Chapter 11: I, Wu Xian, Captain of the Zhongzhou Team! (Please Follow!)

~6 min read 1,190 words

Boom————

But its stillness doesn’t mean the other side won’t move.

He stomped hard on the ground, causing the metal floor beneath him to cave in.

At the same time, Wu Xian’s agile figure shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, appearing instantly above the Licker, then swinging his black iron staff down with all his might.

Crash————!!!

A muffled thud—the Licker’s half-buried body exploded instantly, spraying blood and brain matter everywhere, staining the surrounding walls red.

Yet seeing this, Wu Xian did not lower his guard; he rapidly retreated several steps, transforming into a semi-transparent figure and narrowly avoiding a crimson streak that would have pierced his body.

It was the Licker’s tongue—clearly, another Licker lurked behind the door, preparing to strike.

But with Wu Xian’s mental strength, he had already sensed its presence; he changed his staff technique and thrust forward directly. The black iron staff, originally only two meters long, suddenly extended over twice its length, accompanied by a muffled explosion—again, the Master’s score notification rang in his ears.

Staff Technique: Retreat-Inch · Bet-Win · Advance-Foot.

Three staff forms executed in one seamless motion, reaching the pinnacle of mastery—this is the true worth of the “Black Wind Mountain Staff God” at Level 72!

“Good, so powerful!”

Though poor lighting prevented Zheng Zha from seeing what had just happened—or knowing Wu Xian had killed two Lickers in an instant—the half-destroyed corpse on the floor proved his overwhelming combat power, filling Zheng Zha with awe and intensifying his hunger for strength.

But the moment this thought arose, Zheng Zha heard a piercing screech of tearing steel above him.

Startled, he and the other newcomers from Zhongzhou looked up—and saw a terrifying head, its brain tissue exposed, emerging and letting out a chilling roar.

“Stasis!!”

“Aaaah————!!!!”

A deep command and terrified screams erupted simultaneously, followed by a barrage of gunfire—Zheng Zha, Li Xiaoyi, and others raised their pistols and frantically fired at the Licker above them.

If they had opened their eyes, they would have been stunned to see the Licker frozen in an unnatural pose, stuck in the passage’s breach.

Its entire body was wrapped in a faint golden glow, and above its monstrous head floated a fist-sized character: “Stasis.”

Because of this, even though Zheng Zha and the others were terrible shots, many bullets still struck its body, spraying splashes of blood.

Crash————!!!

In the span of a breath, Wu Xian had already sprinted back from the entrance and delivered a two-stage charged downward strike, claiming another 100 reward points.

Before they could relax, a sudden gust of wind rushed toward them—it was Wu Xian, mid-air, redirecting his staff to smash down upon them.

What the hell?!

He’s going to kill us! Didn’t he say Lunhuizhe can’t harm teammates?!

Thinking this, they could only close their eyes in despair, waiting for death.

One second… two seconds…

No pain came. Zheng Zha slowly opened his eyes—and saw Wu Xian’s black iron staff hovering in midair, trembling violently, as if held back by some unseen force.

The staff’s target? The fat man—who had never introduced himself from the start.

“So you’re the Guide…”

Wu Xian grinned, yanked his staff back to the ground, rolled several times, and put distance between himself and the fat man, whose aura had changed completely.

“You noticed earlier, didn’t you? Tell me why—was it because of how I acted on the stairs?”

The unnamed fat man smiled faintly at Wu Xian, then floated into the air; an invisible mental wave spread out, gently pushing the stunned Zheng Zha and others against the opposite wall of the corridor.

Guides may only interact with Captain candidates; harming ordinary Lunhuizhe is strictly forbidden.

“You could say that.”

Wu Xian spun a staff flourish, letting one end rest at his feet, where a clear energy surge began, radiating intense red light.

Charge!

“You know, because you refused last time, my original candidate for Captain wasn’t you—it was someone else.”

“But his performance was abysmal. So, by comparison, I decided to give you a chance… provided you pass my test.”

The fat man smiled, spreading his mental force to levitate the torn steel shards, turning them into floating blades aimed at Wu Xian.

“Defeat me, and you become Captain of the Zhongzhou Team.”

“Is that so? Looks like I’ll get to stretch my limbs today… By the way, do Guides even have names?”

As Wu Xian spoke, his eyes glowed with a hazy white light, hiding within it a faint blue aura.

“My name?”

The fat man seemed surprised, then replied: “I did prepare one, but I kept getting interrupted. Since you asked now—I’ll tell you: my name is…”

Pfft—

His smile froze on his face.

A gash split open across his forehead, blood gushing out.

Crash————!!!

The staff struck like thunder—a three-stage charged blow slammed into the fat man’s chest, piercing him clean through.

The fat man, still confused, looked down at his chest, then at Wu Xian.

Then, a silver blade emerged from the wound on his forehead, zipping out with a hiss—like a swallow returning to its nest—and flew to Wu Xian’s side, circling him rapidly.

“Dumbass, you really thought I cared about your name? I just needed to distract you so I could strike. And you fell for it so easily—I got you on the first try.”

As Wu Xian spoke, he raised his left hand, snatching the flying silver blade mid-air, a smug grin spreading across his face.

This silver blade was forged from Adamantium, exchanged from the Master.

Though not a psychic weapon, it was sturdy and razor-sharp enough—under Wu Xian’s mental control—to unleash a burst of roughly twenty tons of force, easily exceeding several times the speed of sound. Even armor-piercing rounds were nothing before it.

In the two previous horror scenarios, Wu Xian had never used this technique, nor exchanged for any psychic skills from the Master—he had saved it solely for this moment. Now that it had succeeded, he was secretly thrilled.

“Cheater…”

The fat man’s face turned ashen, but then his expression gradually turned mechanical, cold, and detached. Light—pure white—emerged from his ears, nose, mouth, and even his two wounds.

The next instant, twin beams shot from his eyes—Wu Xian had no time to react before they struck him.

Feeling the unique energy within, Wu Xian’s tense expression relaxed; he retracted his black iron staff and silver blade into his storage space, then spread his arms, letting the force lift him into the air.

【Zhongzhou Team Captain Qualification Certification: Lunhuizhe Wu Xian, do you accept becoming Captain of the Zhongzhou Team?】

The voice he had heard once before sounded again—but this time, Wu Xian chose the opposite.

“Accept!”

No sooner had he spoken than more white light flooded his body, and a strange, indescribable transformation began quietly unfolding deep within his genes…
