Chapter 12: Gene Lock Level Three (Seek Follow-Reads! Seek Collection!)

~7 min read 1,226 words

"Main God! Full-body cultivation... what? No one got hurt, then never mind."

Five beams of light descended from the void, then vanished instantly, revealing the figures of Wu Xian and the others.

Before them stretched a pure white, spotless plaza hall, where a large, unblazing yet profoundly present orb floated at the center—undeniably the Main God Space where the Zhongzhou team resided.

Wu Xian had experienced this same scene three times before; he was utterly accustomed to it.

But Zheng Zha and the others were true newcomers, seeing the Main God Space for the first time—filled with awe, curiosity, and the crushing fatigue of survival, desperate to find a giant bed and sleep until oblivion.

Wu Xian watched this scene, smiling faintly, then as if remembering something, clapped his hands to snap the stunned group back to attention:

"First, welcome to the Main God Space. From now on, we are official teammates. I’m not particularly talented, but I’ve just earned the position of team leader—I hope you’ll all support me and work together to survive these horror films."

"Second, nothing else matters right now. Don’t rush to exchange with the Main God—each of you pick a room and rest well tonight. Tomorrow, we’ll discuss everything in detail."

"By the way, if you want your room to look any way—luxury villa, five-star hotel, even a palace—just imagine it in your mind. Whatever you like."

"The Main God has this kind of perk? Thanks for the reminder, Duizhang !"

Zhan Lan spoke up first, greeted everyone, then cheerfully picked a room and stepped inside.

"I am indeed tired. Thank you... Captain. See you tomorrow."

Zheng Zha let out a bitter laugh. In the final moments of the Biohazard world, he’d heard Fatty—the guide’s—words, and vaguely guessed something, his heart tangled with complex emotions.

But in his mind flashed Wu Xian’s relentless slaughter of the Lickers, and that knot inside him loosened considerably. After expressing his gratitude, he too chose a room, though his back bore a faint air of melancholy.

"Understood, Captain."

"Thank you, Captain."

Li Xiaoyi and Mu Gang also expressed their gratitude.

They knew they were weak, and understood that in Biohazard, had it not been for Wu Xian, they would almost certainly have died before returning to the Main God Space—so they fully accepted Wu Xian as their leader.

Besides, he was the only veteran; by strength and experience, the position rightfully belonged to him. They had no other thoughts.

Wu Xian waved them off, telling them to rest well, but his gaze lingered on the door of the room Zheng Zha had chosen, a flicker of thought passing through his eyes.

"I wonder if this will prevent the birth of Devil Zheng Zha... though I can’t shake this bad feeling..."

In the original Infinite Horror novel, Zheng Zha, warned by Zhang Jie, learned the Main God offered free human replication. Upon entering the Main God Space, he immediately recreated his childhood sweetheart Luo Li—based on his memories and imagination—earning himself the slightly lewd nickname "Loli Enthusiast."

Now, because of Wu Xian’s arrival as a transmigrator, this plot has changed drastically.

First, Wu Xian himself never replicated anyone, nor revealed any information about it—so Zheng Zha naturally wouldn’t think the Main God Space offered such a perk, and thus would never create Luo Li.

Therefore, barring any unforeseen events, Luo Li—who in the original novel would have joined the Devil Team alongside the clone Zheng Zha—would never appear, and thus would never be tortured and humiliated by those white-skinned beasts in the Devil Team...

"Besides, Zheng Zha hasn’t even unlocked Gene Lock Level One yet. According to the Main God’s criteria, he shouldn’t be cloned into the Devil Team."

Of course, this isn’t fully secure—if Zheng Zha unlocks his lock later and learns about replication, he might still repeat the same mistake.

"Troublesome..."

Wu Xian rubbed his forehead and sighed, then set these thoughts aside. He walked alone beneath the great orb and began communicating with it, checking his current status panel.

【Name: Wu Xian (Captain of Zhongzhou Team)】

【Intelligence: 379】

【Spiritual Power: 999】

【Cell Vitality: 568】

【Neural Reaction Speed: 655】

【Muscle Strength: 721】

【Immunity: 560】

……

"Intelligence, spiritual power, and reaction speed increased most dramatically. Gene Lock Level Three clearly prioritizes brain development. If I adapt a bit longer, my Spiritual Nester rank might break through to High Warlord."

Wu Xian stared at the data on the panel, fell silent for a moment, then closed his eyes. When he opened them again, his gaze was utterly blank.

Gene Lock—Level Three!

At first, in A Nightmare on Elm Street 1, facing death and terror, he broke through Level One, officially stepping onto the most powerful cultivation system in the Infinite World.

Later, he awakened his golden finger, gaining knowledge of Gene Martial Arts by sharing from Wu Xian’s essence, and began targeted training—attempting to reverse-open Level Two by gaining voluntary control over over 90% of his body tissues, finally succeeding under the life-or-death pressure of Final Destination.

In the latest Biohazard world, Wu Xian passed the Guide’s trial, became captain of the Zhongzhou team, and thus received the reward of a one-level Gene Lock upgrade—easily reaching Level Three.

According to the original novel’s description, the primary focus of Gene Lock Level Three is brain development.

Upon entering this state, memory, intelligence, and thought speed surge dramatically, and an invisible sixth sense awakens—maintaining a spiritual state far beyond his former self at all times, allowing him to comprehend and calculate knowledge with exquisite precision.

Theoretically, a Level Three user can unleash 70–80% of an A-Rank enhancement’s power. With a superior bloodline and skills, one person becoming an entire army is no fantasy.

At least, that’s Wu Xian’s current feeling—he now understands and has innovative ideas about many of his skills. If he just gets some time to familiarize himself, taking on four or five of his former self would be no problem.

By the way, he’d already tested this in the mysterious space: Wu Xian and the Fate-destined Wu Xian had no ability to unlock Gene Lock, yet their control over power had increased dramatically.

For example, unlocking Level Three directly developed his brain, granting immense benefits to his Spiritual Nester abilities—a form of indirect ability sharing.

"Level Three is already this strong—what would Level Four, the stage of qualitative transformation, be like? It must be godlike... Too bad. If I’d unlocked Level Three before entering Biohazard, I might’ve already experienced Level Four’s power."

Wu Xian thought with regret. Though Level Four carried the danger of inner demons, he had a strange feeling—that which terrified Level Four cultivators might not be difficult for him at all. He didn’t know where this confidence came from.

"These aren’t things I should be thinking about yet. Living in the present is what matters most!"

With this thought, Wu Xian looked up at the great orb, his face lighting with anticipation—he couldn’t help but rub his hands together like a fly: "Main God, report all my rewards from this horror film!"
