Chapter 22: Mutants, Giants, Demons (Seek Follow-Reads! Seek Collection!)
Regarding whether Zheng Zha was a lolicon, the Zhongzhou team did not pursue the matter further; in the minds of the other four, the case was already settled, leaving no room for the suspect to plead his innocence, and the issue was thus closed.
After a bout of laughter and play, the Zhongzhou team soon entered another round of training.
But unlike before, their training focus shifted to mastering the newly acquired bloodlines and skills.
As previously mentioned, under Wu Xian’s suggestion, Zheng Zha had spent one C-rank subplot and 2000 reward points to acquire the powerful skill known as [Blood Flame].
Coupled with the boost from Second-Level Gene Lock, Zheng Zha’s power had undergone a qualitative leap; he now confidently believed that even Wu Xian could no longer defeat him as easily as in past training sessions.
Hearing this, Wu Xian merely smiled faintly, but later spent ten minutes making the overconfident Zheng Zha swell two full sizes—and recall the terror once imposed by a Jeep.
Besides Zheng Zha, the other three team members each chose a bloodline enhancement.
Among them, Zhan Lan, after her “candlelit night talk” with Wu Xian the previous night, had grasped the concepts of psychic controller and psychic master, as well as her own innate talent in psychic power, and thus now had a clear goal for her bloodline enhancement.
[Primordial Mutant Bloodline: From X-Men: First Class, rated 93/100, suitable for most horror films; can be upgraded from Epsilon Class to Omega Class; each upgrade allows selection of one mutant ability, with strength scaling alongside rank until all abilities reach Omega Class…]
This was the bloodline Wu Xian had carefully selected for Zhan Lan, modeled after Apocalypse; he spent one D-rank and one C-rank subplot, plus 2600 reward points, to obtain telepathy and regeneration.
The former laid the foundation for a psychic controller’s enhancement and gave Zhan Lan a chance to test whether she could independently develop skills like psychic chains and mental scanning.
The latter was purely to increase her survival probability.
Not expecting Wolverine or Deadpool-level absurdity, but at least ensuring she wouldn’t be taken out by a stray pebble.
Next came Mu Gang, who chose a bloodline called the Giant Clan.
How to put it? This bloodline’s potential was quite strong, capable of upgrading to S-class Titan Giants or the Primordial Giant of Norse mythology.
But according to the Main God’s description, before reaching A-class, this bloodline offered no special abilities beyond drastically enhanced physical stats—its core trait was sheer durability and high defense, i.e., being a tank.
Clearly, this middle-aged man with a simple appearance and demeanor intended to develop as a tanky meat shield.
Wu Xian had no strong objections, merely gave him a few words of encouragement, then let him proceed to the Main God for exchange.
Finally came Li Xiaoyi, this high school student with no will of his own, whose greatest strength was obedience.
This time was no different—he handed the bloodline choice entirely to Wu Xian.
His only request: that his post-enhancement appearance be as handsome as possible, preferably with a two-stage transformation ability…
What could you do? He was still a teenager; a bit of chuunibyo was understandable.
Though slightly exasperated, Wu Xian used his team leader privileges to screen options and eventually found a bloodline that perfectly matched his requirements.
[Spartan Demon Bloodline: From the game Devil May Cry, rated 90/100, suitable for most horror film plots; the exchangee gains demonic energy reserves proportional to bloodline rank, and their physical structure undergoes drastic change; as long as the brain is not completely destroyed, the exchangee cannot die, and can repair wounds by consuming demonic blood, with speed dependent on bloodline rank.]
“If I recall correctly, some fanfic protagonist who crossed over to the Demon Team took the demon bloodline path—and even used it to overshadow Demon Zheng Zha, single-handedly wiping out the entire Zhongzhou team…”
As he thought this, Wu Xian couldn’t help but sigh.
He didn’t expect much from Li Xiaoyi; he merely remembered that in the original story, Li Xiaoyi died in the next horror film, so he wanted to save him, hoping the demon bloodline’s tenacious survival and inherent luck might steer him toward a different future.
Thus, after about half an hour, all three had completed their enhancements—and like Zheng Zha, each showed visible physical changes.
Mu Gang’s transformation was most extreme: his height, once around 1.7 meters, surged past two meters, rivaling that of a certain “Wisdom King,” yet his bulging, explosive muscles appeared even more massive.
From afar, he looked like a living mountain of flesh, radiating overwhelming pressure—truly worthy of the Giant Clan name.
Beside Mu Gang, Li Xiaoyi’s black hair had turned silver-white, his height increased by roughly ten centimeters, making him stand taller and more confident—nearly unrecognizable from the previously slender boy.
As for Zhan Lan, her changes were less dramatic than the others’, yet still transformative.
Most obvious was her chest: upgraded from standard 3D to IMAX-3D; her facial features became more refined and delicate, as if every feminine trait had been amplified—causing the male onlookers to involuntarily widen their eyes, only to be promptly stepped on by their respective partners, leaving them embarrassed.
Except Wu Xian.
Without a partner, he could openly stare without shame—until Zhan Lan, flustered and furious, prepared to unleash her telekinesis and fight him, at which point he disdainfully looked away.
Laughable—it’s just two big boobs, like I’ve never seen any.
“We have three days left before the next horror film begins—the one I mentioned earlier: Alien 1.”
Wu Xian scanned the group, watching their confident expressions, then sneered: “So, you think you’re stronger now, and Aliens are no longer a threat?”
“Heh, if you really believe that, congratulations—you’re already on the brink of total annihilation.”
“Uh… Captain, it can’t be that bad.”
Zheng Zha scratched his head, puzzled: “I’ve watched several Alien movies. The Aliens are terrifying, sure—but only to ordinary people. With our current strength, if it’s just the movie version, shouldn’t we be able to survive easily?”
“Yes, if it were just the movie version, it wouldn’t be hard… Then tell me—did the Resident Evil films ever feature a Tyrant?”
Wu Xian said calmly, leaving Zheng Zha speechless; the quickest thinker among them, Zhan Lan, ventured cautiously:
“You mean the Main God might alter the film’s plot to increase our mission difficulty.”
