Chapter 32: Who Stays Behind (Seek Follow-Read! Seek Collection!)
Unlike before, this time Wu Xian wasn’t “making friends out of thin air”—he had indeed tried this technique with companions before.
But those companions were from the world of *Devouring the Starry Sky*.
In the shared memory, the devouring Wu Xian had once fused his spiritual power with another perception-focused spirit master during an expedition, expanding his scanning range to locate more monsters.
It was from that experience that he mastered this skill.
On the other side, after hearing Wu Xian’s explanation, Zhan Lan’s expression shifted slightly, then she took a deep breath and stepped forward two paces: “Captain, let’s begin—I’m willing to try.”
“Good!”
Wu Xian smiled and immediately pulled from his storage space a blue vial with a double-helix internal structure—clearly the T-virus he had acquired from the Biohazard world.
Under the reflected light from Chu Xuan’s glasses, Wu Xian briefly explained the T-virus’s ability to assist in unlocking the gene lock, instantly leaving the members of the Central Team stunned.
They had previously heard Wu Xian describe the principle of the gene lock during training in the Main God Space, and knew Zheng Zha had already unlocked the second stage.
That was why, despite their bloodline enhancements being roughly equal, Zheng Zha’s strength far outpaced the other three, second only to Wu Xian, who had unlocked the third stage.
Thinking of this, Mou Gang and Li Xiaoyi looked at Zhan Lan with envious eyes.
Undoubtedly, Wu Xian was pulling out the T-virus now to help Zhan Lan unlock her gene lock and further enhance her abilities.
“Don’t envy me—I took plenty from Umbrella when we returned to Biohazard before; everyone gets a share when we go back, including your clones.”
Seeing their expressions, Wu Xian couldn’t help but smile.
At this point, he no longer cared about the Curse battle—so long as the Central Team grew strong enough, Galya, the Indian Team, they’d just charge straight through.
He simply didn’t believe it: if the original Central Team, so weak, could still defeat these two enemies, how could they lose now that they were stronger—and with a cheat like himself added?
It couldn’t possibly be that the Main God deliberately threw in the Divine Team or the Demon Team just to make things harder for this stowaway.
Laughable! Impossible!
…
“It hurts—I felt like I was about to die…”
Ten minutes later, Zhan Lan recovered from the side effects of unlocking the gene lock, thanks to the D-rank storyline reward recovery potion Wu Xian had already prepared.
Though drenched in sweat and pale as death, her eyes now held a confidence she had never shown before.
For a true spiritual controller, whether or not one has unlocked the gene lock is an entirely different matter—at least, that was Zhan Lan’s feeling.
She was confident that if she could re-enter that state, her spiritual scanning range would expand by at least five to six times; with Wu Xian’s assistance, she might even cover the entire Nostromo.
“Then let’s begin now.”
Wu Xian’s voice came from behind.
Immediately, Zhan Lan felt a hand press against her head, sending a cold sensation through her.
She shivered slightly, then steadied her mind and replied firmly: “Captain, I’m ready.”
“Hmm…”
Wu Xian smiled, then seemed to recall something, his tone suddenly softening: “I’ve only used this technique a few times myself, so it might be uncomfortable—try to endure it. When we return to the Main God Space, I’ll make it up to you.”
“Huh? Uh… thank you.”
Perhaps sensing how strange that sounded, Zhan Lan’s cheeks flushed slightly, then she closed her eyes—and when she opened them again, her pupils were blank, glowing with a hazy white light.
First-stage gene lock—UNLOCK!!
Seeing this, Wu Xian wasted no time. His gaze sharpened, and he rapidly poured his own spiritual power—now over a thousand points—into Zhan Lan’s brain, searching for her spiritual energy to fuse with it.
The process was swift, but far from smooth—having never practiced before, merging two entirely different spiritual forces inevitably caused complications.
And at that moment, Wu Xian’s own eyes also turned blank…
Hummmmm—
A strange humming sound arose; everyone in the command room felt an indescribable pressure rise in their chests. Outside the compartment, the newcomers thought the Xenomorphs had attacked and screamed in terror—only calming down after Zheng Zha stepped in to quell them.
“Did it work?”
Chu Xuan watched this scene, a flicker of something indescribable—perhaps emotion—passing behind his glasses, as if lost in thought.
Wu Xian didn’t answer—he was in the midst of preliminary fusion with Zhan Lan’s spiritual power and couldn’t spare attention.
The next second, both of them activated their spiritual scanning ability simultaneously. Instantly, the internal structure of the spaceship beneath their feet unfolded gradually in their “vision.”
One kilometer in diameter… two… five… ten… fifteen… Found it!
Finally, in a storage room roughly twenty kilometers from the main command room, both sensed an unusual obstruction.
Immediately, Wu Xian, aided by Zhan Lan, surged his spiritual force straight toward the obstruction.
The next instant, he saw a nest filled with disgusting secretions and dead crew members—and inside, the Alien Queen, seemingly laying eggs.
Perhaps sensing the gaze, the Alien Queen suddenly lifted her head, scanning the surroundings, then let out two guttural cries. Instantly, Xenomorphs crawled down the sticky walls, forming a protective circle around her.
Several of them were exceptionally muscular, over three meters tall—clearly the mutated variants designed specifically to guard the Queen, far stronger than ordinary Xenomorphs.
“Queen’s Guard… With this many, even Zheng Zha with his second-stage unlock might get overwhelmed.”
Thinking this, Wu Xian exhaled heavily. First, he stabilized Zhan Lan’s current scanning range, then turned serious to Chu Xuan: “I’ve located the Alien Queen—but her defenses are tricky. Only I can eliminate the nest in a short time.”
“Also, there are other scattered Xenomorphs hidden aboard the ship. Zhan Lan has already locked their positions—I’ll have Friday mark them on the map.”
If… I mean, if we haven’t cleared the Xenomorphs before the ship returns to Earth, carry out your earlier plan: blow up the ship.”
Saying this, Wu Xian turned to Zheng Zha, who had been restless beside him: “Zheng Zha, you handle clearing these things—no problem, right?”
“Of course!”
Zheng Zha grinned, his teeth gleaming.
“Splitting up again, huh…”
Chu Xuan adjusted his glasses: “Given the remaining time, this is indeed the optimal strategy. Your strength is enough to eliminate the nest alone; Zheng Zha, along with the veterans and Zero, will clear the hidden Xenomorphs aboard—timing might just work.”
“But there’s still one problem… Zhan Lan must continuously guide everyone to the hidden Xenomorphs—she can’t join combat. She must remain in the command room, relaying information through Friday. So someone trustworthy with combat strength must stay here.”
As soon as he spoke, the room fell silent again.
Everyone knew: if the main quest fails, all of them lose 7,000 reward points.
Except Wu Xian, no one here can offset the penalty for mission failure. The only way to survive now is to kill more Xenomorphs.
But if someone stays behind in the command room, as Chu Xuan suggested, it means surrendering their chance to live.
After all, time is tight—no one can guarantee they’ll complete the main quest before returning to Earth.
“Let me stay.”
