Chapter 55: That Thief Stole the Power Belonging to Me

~7 min read 1,245 words

Rojie pondered for a moment, made up his mind, and decided to return to San Francisco first.

Before heading to Venice to search for the Eye of Aurora, Rojie had once returned to San Francisco.

At that time, he had encountered Akatsuki Yu in Chinatown.

According to his memory of the original story, the plot had already begun over half a year ago under the normal timeline.

Yet the original story’s timeline was already quite vague.

Moreover, the first chicken talisman to appear had long since been taken by Rojie.

The original plot’s trajectory might now be utterly chaotic.

But as the protagonist’s group blessed by righteous qi, Rojie guessed they had already found other talismans—perhaps more than one.

Although Rojie faced immense difficulties searching for talismans, even with the original plot as a guide, it took him a full year just to find the dog talisman.

But the protagonist’s group was different; they likely had righteous qi as a cheat, finding talismans at an astonishing speed.

Perfect for helping Rojie find the rat talisman.

Then Rojie stilled his thoughts, his gaze falling on the Eye of Aurora in his hand.

Unlike talismans, the Eye of Aurora contained magic, but that magic served only as fuel to activate it.

The teleportation ability stemmed from the Eye of Aurora’s inherent function.

Simply absorbing magic was useless.

Thinking of this, Rojie stirred his spirit, and in an instant, he vanished from the room.

Almost in the blink of an eye, Rojie appeared in a narrow alley in San Francisco’s Chinatown.

The surroundings were dirty and messy; a trash bin lay overturned, its contents scattered across the ground, emitting a foul odor.

He glanced around, recognizing from memory that this must be near Old Man’s shop.

Rojie was about to visit Old Man’s shop.

Suddenly, a scene before him caught his attention.

A stout man in black suspenders forcefully threw a young man wearing a blue short-sleeved knit shirt outwards.

It was Tru and Jackie Chan.

After being thrown, Jackie Chan swiftly grabbed a rope stretched between the second floors of buildings along the street.

Then, like a nimble monkey, he swung a few times, completed a three-and-a-half somersault in midair, and landed steadily on the ground—unharmed.

Newton, seeing this, would have kicked open his coffin lid.

At that moment, a little girl in an orange hoodie shouted loudly: “Uncle Long, the talisman!”

It was Akatsuki Yu.

Following her pointing finger, a group of shadow soldiers dressed as ninjas stood not far away.

It was the eternal workaholic Shadow Troop—never needing to eat or sleep.

One of the shadow soldiers held a lasso in one hand and a talisman in the other.

Just as the shadow soldier prepared to retreat, two brilliant bolts of lightning shot out from the alley.

Their speed was too fast to react to.

The shadow soldier holding the talisman was instantly struck, exploding into fragments that dissolved into shadow and vanished into the air.

The talisman, deprived of support, began to fall toward the ground.

Yet just before it touched the ground, it suddenly floated upward, drifting slowly in one direction until it landed in the hands of a handsome young man.

The young man was Rojie, who had just stepped out of the alley.

Rojie caught the flying talisman steadily: “Looks like someone needs help.”

Then he glanced down at the talisman in his hand: “So it’s the invisible snake.”

At that moment, Jackie Chan suddenly shouted: “Watch out!”

Rojie looked up at the sound and saw Tru roaring as he charged toward him like an enraged bull.

Tru charges!

Tru takes off!

Tru crashes down!

When Tru regained his senses, he had already crashed far away, smashing through a wall.

Perhaps due to this world’s peculiar nature, or perhaps because the Black Qi Grandpa had given him a buff.

Tru was completely unharmed.

He merely shook his head and stood up again.

After seeing the electric light flare in Rojie’s eyes, Tru immediately turned and fled.

Though he had weight advantage, the talisman suppression was far more terrifying.

Tru had no intention of testing the power of the pig talisman with his flesh and blood.

He wasn’t a shadow soldier—he couldn’t come back from death.

Come to think of it, Tru seemed to be the second person, after Akatsuki Yu, who could swing between righteous qi and black qi.

And Akatsuki Yu’s title as former queen of the shadow army might have just been Tara’s teasing.

But Tru had indeed once been Wulong’s subordinate, a member of the black qi faction, only turning away from darkness after the talisman arc ended.

Later, he became Old Man’s disciple.

Compared to the other members of the Black Hand Gang, he was practically a life winner.

After Tru fled, Akatsuki Yu ran over, gazing at Rojie with admiration.

She tilted her small head curiously and asked: “Is that a superpower?”

Rojie smiled, crouched down, and gently patted her head: “Little girl, this isn’t a superpower—it’s magic.”

Akatsuki Yu jumped excitedly: “I’m not a little girl—I’m Akatsuki Yu.”

“Magic? Old Man knows magic too, but he only says ‘Demons and ghosts, begone!’”

As she spoke, Akatsuki Yu imitated Old Man’s mannerisms.

At that moment, Jackie Chan walked over and said seriously: “Akatsuki Yu, be polite to strangers.”

Then he turned to Rojie and said gratefully: “Thank Itachi for helping us.”

“By the way, the talisman.”

His gaze settled on Rojie.

Rojie extended his hand, palm up, holding the snake talisman: “Itachi mean the snake talisman?”

Jackie Chan nodded: “Yes, the snake talisman. Thank Itachi.”

He reached out to take it.

But Rojie suddenly clenched his fist.

“The talisman’s power is dangerous. I’d like to meet the wizard behind Itachi.”

Top floor of the Black Hand Building.

Wulong, furious, stood before the statue of the Holy Master, glaring at Tru and scolding him without mercy.

“Useless fool! Itachi couldn’t even guard a single snake talisman—Itachi lost it so easily!”

Tru kept his head down, silent.

At that moment, the statue of the Holy Master suddenly glowed with eerie red light.

Then the Holy Master’s deep voice echoed through the hall.

“That thief stole the power belonging to me. He possesses the power of three talismans.”

Wulong turned and asked: “Itachi mean he has three talismans?”

The Holy Master’s voice carried a hint of anger: “No—he absorbed the magic within the talismans.”

Wulong paused, then asked: “Then what should we do?”

He had never seen such a situation.

Don’t let this prevent me from obtaining the Golden Rooster King’s treasure.

The Holy Master snorted: “Find a way to bring him to me. I will reclaim what is mine myself.”

Wulong frowned: “Holy Master, didn’t Itachi hear what Tru said? That man’s eyes glow, and he seems to have telekinesis.”

“He’s like a comic book Superman—we won’t have an easy time dealing with him.”

The Holy Master sneered: “That’s the power of the pig and the chicken.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll give Itachi tools sufficient to handle him.”

Wulong remained dissatisfied: “Your junk had better actually work.”

At that moment, footsteps approached, and three people entered the hall.

It was Chow, Rasu, and Afen.

Rasu, excited, spoke first: “Boss, we found the talisman.”

Afen added: “It’s a rat.”

At that moment, Chow raised his right hand, revealing a rat-patterned talisman resting quietly in his palm.
