Chapter 58: Finally, a New Shengzai with Supernatural Powers

~6 min read 1,083 words

In the evening, the first week’s “Real Love” filming finally ended, and though it had only been one day of shooting, Shengzai felt utterly drained.

The reality show had no script and didn’t require him to perform any martial arts, yet after a full day of filming, Shengzai still felt inexplicably mentally exhausted.

According to his original plan, he intended to pose as a childhood friend to help Ma Jianai generate buzz and gradually restore her fame, allowing the industry to see the effort she’d put in over the years.

But the filming process didn’t go as smoothly as Shengzai had imagined, because Ma Jianai refused to cooperate with him, leaving him deeply frustrated.

Yet Dagi Katsuya was unusually satisfied with the filming results and, even before the episode aired, already believed this installment of “Real Love” would be a massive hit.

A clumsy superstar and a tsundere former child star who are childhood friends—even the crew members outside the shoot felt a little envious of their awkward romance; how much more would the young fans obsess over them?

Even Dagi Katsuya thought that if Shengzai and Jianai actually got together, they would become the most popular couple since “Real Love” first premiered.

That night, after finishing filming, the “Real Love” production team and Dagi Katsuya worked overtime to create the preview.

Because they could already foresee that this episode of “Real Love” would be more shocking than any previous one!

The higher the show’s popularity, the more their salaries and bonuses would increase, so they couldn’t afford to slack off.

Back home, Ma Jianai lay in bed that night, recalling the day’s events; an involuntary smile curled her lips, then she shyly hugged the plush toy beside her.

Shengzai, however, utterly exhausted, collapsed into bed and immediately reentered “Mind Dream Between,” searching for new powerful allies to cling to.

No matter how many times he entered “Mind Dream Between,” Shengzai always found the vast, pure white space astonishing.

After walking through an extremely long corridor, he stepped out of a door—and his body suddenly erupted in a brilliant white light.

Under the glow of that light, Shengzai’s form instantly transformed into that of his five-year-old self.

As he visited “Mind Dream Between” more frequently, the Shengzais began to gradually understand some of its properties.

First, every time they entered this space, they reverted to the form they had when they first arrived here.

Shengzai first entered this place at age five, so each time he entered, he appeared as a young boy.

Although each door in this vast pure white space represented a different world, the flow of time within each world was entirely independent.

The only shared time flow among all the Shengzais was within this vast pure white space.

As for the ratio between the time flow in this pure white space and that of each world, the Shengzais had no idea.

They even suspected that upon entering here, the time flow of their own worlds had been frozen.

“The big star’s here too—come over and share some, let me broaden my horizons.”

As soon as Shengzai entered “Mind Dream Between,” the Ball Beast Shengzai, who had been talking with two other Shengzais nearby, leapt nimbly over and arrived before him.

There were already quite a few Shengzais here; most were around middle or high school age, and Shengzai’s young boy form stood out clearly in “Mind Dream Between.”

“He’s also a Shengzai? How come there’s a young boy form? Which world did he come from?”

“Ball Beast form already exists, so young boy form doesn’t seem so strange.”

But according to anime and drama tropes, worlds seen through a child’s eyes usually have high power levels—could this guy be a top-tier expert?

Seeing Ball Beast Shengzai abandon them and come over to the young boy Shengzai, the other two Shengzais in school uniforms followed suit.

But before Shengzai could answer their questions, Sword Shengzai, who had just entered “Mind Dream Between,” spoke up: “He’s not the top-tier expert you imagine—his world just has more perks, so he has more ‘resources’ on hand.”

Hearing Sword Shengzai’s words, the two school-uniformed Shengzais’ eyes lit up.

And as Shengzais, their thought patterns were clearly identical—they immediately chorused: “Is he from a harem world?!”

“Explaining is too much trouble. Since two new guys just arrived, let’s just share directly.”

Ball Beast Shengzai said, pulling the two newcomers by his ears, then using his big, sparkling eyes to glance at Shengzai and Sword Shengzai, signaling them to touch him.

After a few brief minutes, the ability and memory sharing was complete, and everyone understood each other’s information.

The newcomer in the white shirt was from the “Tokyo Ghoul” world—a branch family member of the prestigious Tsuchimikado clan of onmyōji, skilled in summoning shikigami for battle.

The newcomer in the black school uniform was from the “Jujutsu Kaisen” world, having grown up fighting alongside Gojo.

He had spontaneously awakened cursed energy, possessed extraordinary physical conditioning, and excelled in hand-to-hand combat and ancient martial arts.

After sharing the powers and memories of Ghoul Shengzai and Jujutsu Shengzai, the other Shengzais all wore expressions of excitement.

Finally, after so long, “Mind Dream Between” had produced a Shengzai with supernatural power.

Although Ghoul Shengzai and Jujutsu Shengzai weren’t yet top-tier experts, they at least possessed supernatural abilities.

No—strictly speaking, Ball Beast Shengzai and the one turned into a laborer were also supernatural beings.

But sadly, their power was pitifully weak…

Though they did have supernatural abilities, that level of power couldn’t even surpass human limits, so everyone had always ignored them.

After completing the power sharing, Ghoul Shengzai and Jujutsu Shengzai looked at Shengzai with expressions of envy and disdain.

“Bro, you’re a big star—your memories are full of female stars flirting with you, and yet you’re completely unmoved?”

“With that kind of clout, you don’t even learn the industry’s unwritten rules? You’re wasting your status!”

“And in your memories, you’ve got such young, beautiful adoptive sisters—yet you never let your filial piety turn into something else? Fine, you couldn’t do anything as a kid, but now you’re still useless!”

“Disappointing. We thought you’d give us some real perks, but your memory clips only showed manga and videos—no actual action.”

Not only Ghoul Shengzai and Jujutsu Shengzai looked disappointed—Ball Beast Shengzai was even more so, pitifully unable to evolve beyond the Champion stage of Agumon.

Female Digimon are at least Ultimate stage—he just couldn’t compete.
