Chapter 239: Red sofa

Although Wu Yuchen said it lightly, he was actually very happy. Being able to force Michael Eisner to come forward and admit the failure of *Pearl Harbor* and remove his confidant is something that has never happened before.

This means that Michael Eisner's rule has been shaken. In the past, when he was extremely strong, many people would fear him. But when he began to show his decline, the fangs hidden in the dark by those he had offended would slowly show up.

This time he can throw out a confidant to give an account to shareholders and the board of directors, but how many left arms and right arms does he have that are heavy enough to be used by him like this? Maybe next time it will be his turn!

Since he is happy, it is inevitable to celebrate. That night, Wu Yuchen called the female lead of *A Beautiful Mind*, Jennifer Connelly, and the female lead of *Spider-Man*, Anne Hathaway, these two beauties, to come over and Happy together!

For this scene, Jennifer Connelly had psychological expectations long ago. Wu Yuchen had mentioned this idea to her before. And she also agreed under the condition that Wu Yuchen promised to help her win the Oscar little golden man.

For a period of time, Wu Yuchen did not run any publicity anymore. It was enough for Depp and the other leads to go on shows. He is now busy with the post-production of *A Beautiful Mind* and *Spider-Man* during the day, and taking care of the female leads of these two films at night, busy and happy.

However, the reason why Fox is willing is also because they can obtain part of the peripheral authorization of *Star Wars*. There is no need to say how popular the peripherals of the Star Wars series are. Fox can also earn a lot of money from this, so it is willing to be happy. But it can also be seen from this that the bargaining power of Lucasfilm is strong.

Wu Yuchen naturally understood the meaning of the other side. Now *Pirates of the Caribbean* is a sweet pastry, whether it is for Universal Studios or Disneyland, but because of the relationship between him and Disney, Universal believes that he and Disney cannot cooperate at all, so it is not afraid of Disney coming to grab business at all. Naturally, the conditions offered may not satisfy Spielberg.

More importantly, *Pirates of the Caribbean* is not a film with an original novel, but a film completely original by Wu Yuchen! And Wu Yuchen once said that he had already made a trilogy plan for *Pirates of the Caribbean*, which means he created a super profitable series project. Now he is simply a sweet pastry for major Hollywood studios, and everyone wants to cooperate with him.

"Uh……" Spielberg couldn't help but take off his glasses and rub his eyebrows. He really thought Wu Yuchen was serious just now!

In fact, if it were himself, he would probably be able to swallow this breath. After all, Eisner is Eisner, and Disney is Disney. He thinks it can be completely separated. Attacking Eisner does not hinder making money with Disney.

Spielberg nodded when he heard this. In fact, filming this year is impossible, because Depp will not agree. Before the global box office of *Pirates of the Caribbean* comes out, Depp will not talk about the sequel contract, because he wants to confirm how much he will offer for the next contract based on the global box office of *Pirates of the Caribbean*.

Seeing Wu Yuchen smile at him, Spielberg understood his meaning, so he said to the people of Universal: "Of course there is no problem with letting *Pirates of the Caribbean* enter Universal Studios, but we have to see what your conditions are."

"But the box office trend cannot represent everything, *Jurassic Park* is pioneering!"

Spielberg shook his head, and then emphasized: "We want the same treatment as *Jurassic Park*! *Pirates of the Caribbean* deserves it!"

And his reputation as Director Wu is well-known. Those who have paid here have gained returns that satisfy them. Not to mention others, just the female lead of *Frequency*, Gretchen, still wants to find Wu Yuchen to continue the relationship.

And on this day, Spielberg brought the people of Universal to find Wu Yuchen. It should be said that the people of Universal visited the producers of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, DreamWorks and Miracle Pictures, to discuss copyright matters.

In fact, the most powerful one is Lucasfilm. For example, their *Star Wars* series is basically letting Fox help Lu Kasi work for nothing. The distribution fee in North America is 8%, and Lucasfilm can get 30% or even 35% or more of the overseas box office.

Happy time passed quickly, and time soon came to July.

And those who really benefited from Harvey, those who ate his dividends, those actresses who thanked him on the Oscar stage, such as Pepper Gwyneth, such as Meryl Streep, such as Jennifer Lawrence, who took the initiative to jump out and accuse him?

Denying Harvey actively, isn't that denying the achievements they have made in the past?

Wu Yuchen looked down and found that the sofa he was sitting on was a red sofa. He couldn't help but sigh in his heart, it is worthy of being Hollywood's red sofa!

In the past, when mentioning Hollywood's red sofa, the first thing that came to mind was that fat man Harvey Weinstein. But now, he himself has sat on the red sofa openly, this is really…… comfortable!

"Ahem, Steven, you should know best that after *Pirates of the Caribbean* enters Universal Studios, it will generate a lot of revenue for you, and it will also create a lot of potential audiences for the follow-up of *Pirates of the Caribbean*. Isn't *Pirates of the Caribbean* a trilogy? This will be a very favorable promotion for you, how about it?"

It is not overseas copyright, because when Universal was determined as the distributor, DreamWorks had already negotiated overseas box office sharing with Universal, not based on profit, but 25% of the overseas box office.

"Well…… you see, Baby Anne is still very obedient." As he said, he gently rubbed Anne Hathaway's head.

Tonight, naturally, it was a carnival celebration. Wu Yuchen completed the wish of personally comparing these two generations of Hollywood goddesses, Jennifer Connelly and Anne Hathaway, to see which of these two big white sheep is whiter.

But thinking of the female lead opportunity in Wu Yuchen's mouth, Anne Hathaway also followed his hand and knelt on the carpet……

Wu Yuchen did not speak. He really had no experience in this aspect, and Spielberg's *Jurassic Park* and *Back to the Future* had both entered, so it was better to listen to what he said.

As he said, his hand pressed Anne Hathaway's head down. Anne Hathaway and Wu Yuchen had played many times, so naturally she understood the other side's intention. However, there was Jennifer Connelly watching from the side this time, and her body couldn't help but hesitate.

Spielberg nodded when he heard this, and then asked with some excitement: "Wu, so, are you planning to start producing *Pirates of the Caribbean 2* soon?"

But I have confidence in the *Pirates of the Caribbean* series. When *Pirates of the Caribbean 2* comes out, let's see if Universal Studios can still sit still."

However, Spielberg also knew that his philosophy was different from Wu Yuchen's, and it was normal for young people not to be able to swallow this breath.

"*Pirates of the Caribbean*'s box office trend is not weaker than *Jurassic Park* at all!"

After a month of release, the North American box office of *Pirates of the Caribbean* has exceeded 300 million US dollars. Although the daily box office of *Pirates of the Caribbean* has fallen below 3 million, because there are still two months in the summer, and the decline of *Pirates of the Caribbean* is very healthy, the market predicts that it will have at least 100 million box office revenue in North America.

Wu Yuchen and Spielberg got together. Through Spielberg's guidance, he also understood that it mainly depends on the amount of authorization fee Universal is willing to give and the profit sharing created by the project.

The people of Universal had a sincere expression: "Steven, this is the best condition we can give to *Pirates of the Caribbean* after our evaluation!"

This is the condition that DreamWorks with the Big Three can negotiate. Other small companies in Hollywood cannot negotiate sharing directly with major distributors, such as Miracle Pictures before.

By the same token, those who have received his help, Wu Yuchen, cannot jump out and talk about these things on the red sofa.

Before, Wu Yuchen's three films were all small productions with big returns. And this time, he showed his ability to direct big productions, and has completely proven that he is a well-deserved Hollywood big director.

Keira is only 16 years old this year. After *Pirates of the Caribbean* exploded, her experience as a double actress for Natalie Portman in *Star Wars: Episode I* was naturally dug out. But now, her fame is even louder than Natalie Portman's!

With Keira's experience, you say that among the large group of beauties in Hollywood who are still struggling for opportunities, who is not envious and jealous? They all wish that such things would fall on them in their dreams!

And Anne Hathaway naturally also wants to be a female lead in Wu Yuchen's film, then her future Hollywood road will definitely be infinitely bright!

Wu Yuchen gently stroked Anne Hathaway's hair and smiled: "Anne, if you want to be a female lead, let me see your sincerity~"

Anne Hathaway hardened her heart. She had already dedicated herself, so why care about this? A beautiful smile appeared on her face again, and then she walked to Wu Yuchen with cat steps and sat on Wu Yuchen's lap.

Wu Yuchen smiled and said: "Then let's wait a while. They don't give high conditions now, partly because they think Disney and we won't cooperate, and partly because they still have doubts about the follow-up of *Pirates of the Caribbean*. After all, many sequels are bad films. The word-of-mouth of *The Mummy 2* this year is not very good."

"Steven, Wu, congratulations, *Pirates of the Caribbean* is a great work! And the peripheral ability of this work is actually very terrifying. We think you are far from developing it in place. Have you considered fully authorizing it to us, Universal?"

Regarding the contradiction between Wu Yuchen and Eisner, these major studios all know about it. Didn't you see Wu Yuchen publicly calling out against Eisner a while ago, and *Pirates of the Caribbean* forced Eisner to cut his confidant? Everyone doesn't believe that Wu Yuchen will cooperate with Disney again.

At the same time, after the great success of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, Sony's confidence in *Spider-Man* has also greatly increased. After all, the *Spider-Man* project trilogy was also planned by Wu Yuchen!

Anyone with a discerning eye can see what Wu Yuchen means now. Anne Hathaway knows that there are countless women who want to climb into Wu Yuchen's bed now, and she has already gained a first-mover advantage. If she leaves now, not to mention the relationship with Wu Yuchen, she might even offend the other side. This is definitely not a wise choice!

Spielberg cast an appreciative look at Wu Yuchen, and then said to the two people from Universal: "Two, I think you have also seen Wu's attitude. If you can't come up with conditions that satisfy us, we don't mind cooperating with Disneyland."

"Of course, we have been ready for a long time." As he said, the people of Universal handed a document to Spielberg and Wu Yuchen, letting them read it slowly.

【Garbled text】

Seeing this, Wu Yuchen smiled, then opened his legs, patted his thigh, raised the corner of his mouth and said: "Anne, good baby, be obedient~"

The two people from Universal cast a suspicious look at Wu Yuchen, nodded, and then greeted the two and left.

Wu Yuchen nodded when he heard this. He looked at Spielberg. If he remembered correctly, in fact, some peripherals had already been authorized, such as the toys of the *Black Pearl*, such as Captain Jack's clothing, etc.

Spielberg has been in Hollywood for a long time and knows the purpose of Universal. He smiled at Wu Yuchen and said: "If I didn't guess wrong, you Universal are here for Universal Studios, right? You want to let the *Pirates of the Caribbean* project enter Universal Studios?"

Jennifer Connelly threw a wink at him, and then took the initiative to lean down to Anne Hathaway's side……

After sending the people of Universal away, Spielberg praised Wu Yuchen: "Wu, you have become mature!"

"Hmm?" Spielberg's eyes widened.

Universal Studios is just as its name suggests, it is developed by many theme films, such as *Jurassic Park*, *Terminator*, *The Mummy*, *Back to the Future*, etc. And now, with the explosion of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, Universal naturally set its sights on this project, wanting to obtain the authorization of *Pirates of the Caribbean* and let it enter Universal Studios.

After coming to Wu Yuchen, looking at Jennifer Connelly who was already in Wu Yuchen's arms, Anne Hathaway was stunned on the spot. Looking at Wu Yuchen waving to her, she was a little at a loss.

Wu Yuchen laughed, the first half of the sentence is just listen to it, but he knows the second half is the other side's heartfelt words. Now if you want to say who is the most enviable girl in Hollywood, that is undoubtedly the female lead of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, Keira Knightley.

Now *Pirates of the Caribbean* has actually been released overseas, especially in the UK, where the response is very hot. After all, *Pirates of the Caribbean* is about things in their history, and there is also the British Royal Navy. Elizabeth, played by Keira Knightley, has been sought after by British fans. However, the money for this overseas box office share will likely have to wait until next year to arrive.

The people of Universal shook their hands: "No, no, no, we don't think *Pirates of the Caribbean* can be compared with *Jurassic Park*."

Spielberg thought for a while, and then said: "Even so, the conditions for *Pirates of the Caribbean* should be better than *The Mummy* and *Back to the Future*. You can look at the teenagers and children outside, they are all crazy about *Pirates of the Caribbean*, it is far more popular than these two series of films!"

Anne Hathaway's brain turned rapidly. She had already obtained the female lead of *Spider-Man*, and the film had already been shot. Even if she refused Wu Yuchen now and had nothing to do with him, the things she should get would not be lost.

And Anne Hathaway was a bit caught off guard. She knew that the relationship between her and Wu Yuchen was mutual use, and he must have more than one woman. But she thought she would be the one Wu Yuchen loved the most!

Spielberg immediately said: "It is best to be next year, filming next year, released the year after, so the connection is just right."

"Steven, this year is impossible. My schedule for this year is full. As for next year or the year after, I have to consider it."

Wu Yuchen cursed the profiteers in Hollywood in his heart, and then smiled and said: "I came to America, came to Hollywood, and learned a sentence: Business is business. I think this sentence can also be given to you now."

When it comes to theme parks, the most famous in the world is Disneyland, and Universal Studios is actually an existence that can compete with Disneyland, and even many adults and men prefer to go to Universal Studios to play. However, Disneyland wins the world by winning children, and later pulled a group of women who claimed to have pink girlish hearts into the Disney camp, so the name became the most famous existence in the world.

Wu Yuchen smiled at Spielberg and said: "Steven, you wouldn't think I was serious, would you?"

Wu Yuchen faced Spielberg's expectant gaze, shook his head embarrassedly:

He didn't worry that he would end up like Harvey Weinstein in the future. Didn't you see who the women who jumped out to report Harvey were? They were all forced by Harvey and didn't get returns from his hands.

Then he said: "And how can this be called a punishment? This is clearly a reward~ Dear, do you want my reward?" Wu Yuchen said, looking at Jennifer Connelly.

The people of Universal smiled and said: "Steven, you should know that whether it is *The Mummy* or *Back to the Future*, they are for our own films of Universal, so the conditions we give will naturally be more generous."

Spielberg didn't speak at this time, but turned his head to look at Wu Yuchen, and the two people from Universal also fell their eyes on Wu Yuchen.

Jennifer Connelly saw this, and couldn't help but smile at Wu Yuchen's ear: "Dear, it seems that you haven't handled your little baby yet~"

Wu Yuchen smiled and said: "Is it? I thought my little baby Anne wanted to be rebellious today~"

After a long while, Spielberg closed the document, and then frowned: "I didn't feel Universal's sincerity. The sharing you gave is too low!"

Wu Yuchen sneered: "Let me cooperate with Disney, unless Eisner kneels in front of me and begs me! Otherwise, no way!"

"Wu, although you expressed your position in front of Universal just now, the other side is not so easy to fool. They will definitely stare at us and Disney. If we don't negotiate with Disney, they won't raise the conditions again."

The two people from Universal looked at each other, and then smiled and said: "Come on, Steven, don't use Disneyland to suppress the price. We all know about the things between Disney and Wu, and we don't believe that Wu will let *Pirates of the Caribbean* enter Disneyland at all!"

It's just that Wu Yuchen has more fun things now, so he politely refused the other side, making Gretchen sad for a long time. After *Frequency*, her career was brilliant for those two years, and now it has begun to decline. However, Wu Yuchen felt that it was enough to be worthy of her. Having that representative work has already allowed her to mix well in Hollywood.

Wu Yuchen thought for a while and said: "Steven, I think filming a sequel is not an easy thing. Compared to my side, I think we better handle one thing first, Depp's sequel remuneration problem. Captain Jack is the core character of the *Pirates of the Caribbean* series. If this problem is not negotiated, the sequel will not be so simple to shoot."

However, soon, she denied this idea again. Look at Jennifer Connelly beside Wu Yuchen, who has been nominated for an Oscar twice, but is still beside Wu Yuchen.

Business is business. Many people should not be unfamiliar with this sentence. It actually originated from Jews. Jews believe that in the business field, everything is a commodity. Since it is a commodity, there is only one attribute—value-added, money-making. Except for things that violate the law and violate the contract, everything else should obey this highest goal, especially not to mix personal feelings!

And now, Wu Yuchen is using this sentence to show Universal that he will not mix personal feelings into this business.

"Uh……"

Spielberg's face drooped: "I didn't see Universal's sincerity in this document at all. In that case, we don't mind negotiating with Disney. I think Disney's conditions will definitely be better than Universal."

As he said, he patted Anne Hathaway's butt not lightly or heavily. Anne Hathaway twisted in his arms, and then looked aggrieved: "How can it be? I am always your most obedient Anne! I still want to be a female lead in dear's film!"

Jennifer Connelly looked at Anne Hathaway's actions, and then smiled in Wu Yuchen's ear: "Dear, is this your punishment for her not listening just now?"

Anne Hathaway has been in the industry for a short time, and now she has become the female lead of *Spider-Man*, so she can't hold her face.

And with the success of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, Wu Yuchen's prestige and influence in Hollywood have further risen.

That is to say, it will be at least next year to negotiate the sequel contract with Depp, and this negotiation is not something that can be done in one word.

Thinking of this, Spielberg also sighed, just hoping that Depp won't open his mouth like a lion at that time. ===== CHAPTER 240 =====
