Chapter 240: Surprised Zhou Zhou Jielun (Tomorrow is the application for Oscar!)

Speaking of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack, Spielberg sighed to Wu Yuchen:

"I didn't expect Depp's Captain Jack to be so popular. The audience's taste now has changed too much from our era. I already feel that I can't keep up with the trend and the audience's taste. I have to admit that I am old!"

Wu Yuchen knows the reason why Spielberg said so. *Pirates of the Caribbean* is essentially a treasure-hunting adventure film, and this type of subject matter, to be honest, was carried forward by Spielberg.

In 1981, the film *Raiders of the Lost Ark* directed by Spielberg set the standard for this type of treasure-hunting adventure movie. It can be said that for the decades of similar films that followed, whether it was *The Mummy*, *Pirates of the Caribbean*, or something like *National Treasure*, the structure and pacing of the films all followed *Raiders of the Lost Ark*.

And the male lead of *Raiders of the Lost Ark*, "Dr. Indiana Jones," has also become one of the most successful film characters in Hollywood.

Dr. Jones can be said to be the typical hero idol character who can write history with a pen, can whip the horse to settle the world, and is handsome, brave, high IQ, and is a Western hero and a university professor. This type of protagonist was the trend in the 80s and 90s and was the audience's favorite in that era.

And now, the times are changing. This type of perfect hero character is no longer popular. Replacing it is the Captain Jack type character in *Pirates of the Caribbean*.

Captain Jack has a lot of shortcomings: sloppy, lazy, fickle, treacherous, funny, unable to fight, sissy…… This type of character would never be a protagonist in the past. But now it has become the audience's favorite!

Therefore, through the change of the audience's taste in this type of treasure-hunting film, Spielberg also felt a sense of being unable to grasp the market and getting old.

Wu Yuchen smiled at Spielberg: "Steven, you are still early. I bet you can film until you are 80!"

He doesn't know if Spielberg can film until he is 80, but in his impression, Spielberg is still filming films even 20 years later.

"But Steven, you are right about one thing. The main trend of films is indeed in the hands of young people. Now the post-80s generation has grown up. They are becoming more and more individual, no longer liking perfect hero characters, but preferring protagonists with their own personality, their own shortcomings, and unique personality charm, such as Captain Jack."

These two years, just *Pirates of the Caribbean* and *Spider-Man* are enough to keep him busy. Wu Yuchen doesn't want to add more burdens to himself now.

On the other side of the ocean, Taiwan, the annual Golden Melody Awards ceremony is being held. This is the highest award in the Chinese music scene and is what every musician in the Chinese music scene is chasing.

In Huang Huang Xiao Ming's view, Zhou Zhou Jielun, this little brother, has good creative talent. If he builds a good relationship with him, maybe he can ask him for some songs in the future.

Spielberg nodded thoughtfully, and then asked Wu Yuchen with a smile: "Is this the reason why you acquired Marvel?"

Wu Yuchen shook his head and said: "Come on, Steven, I am already busy with *Pirates of the Caribbean* and Marvel!"

It is really Spielberg, very sharp!

Regarding this point, the rise of Marvel hero films is proof. Marvel's superheroes have their own problems, but it doesn't prevent them from being welcomed and sought after. The reason why they didn't rise in the 80s and 90s, but gradually rose in the new century, is partly because of the upgrade of special effects technology, and partly because of the audience's taste and trend.

For a newcomer who released his first album last year, being able to win so many nominations and so much affirmation naturally made him extremely excited. At the same time, he is also very grateful to the company behind him, Bai Xiong. Having been in the circle for two or three years, he is not a pure novice. He knows that even the Golden Melody Awards have to talk about background relationships and public relations. The company can help him win so many nominations, which also shows the importance they attach to him!

Zhou Zhou Jielun is used to wearing a baseball cap in public, looking cool. However, at this time, he showed a somewhat shy smile: "No, Brother Huang Xiao Ming, it's all because the company cultivated me that I was able to get so many nominations~"

F4 and Zhou Zhou Jielun are both artists under Bai Xiong, so they naturally sat together at the Golden Melody Awards today. And one is a group and the other is a solo singer, so there is no competition between them, and they get along quite harmoniously.

This is Little Zhou's heartfelt words. He is indeed very happy at this moment, not only because he came here as a newcomer who just debuted with full expectations and longing, but he also won 4 major award nominations: Best Newcomer, Best Composer, Best Album Producer, and Best Album!

Spielberg smiled at Wu Yuchen: "Warner should really hire you as a consultant to recreate Superman and Batman."

Huang Huang Xiao Ming asked with a smile: "Jay, how many awards do you have confidence to win today?"

Wu Yuchen also said to Spielberg: "In my opinion, it will develop like this. If Superman and Batman want to succeed, they must make changes and come down from the altar. Future audiences will no longer like a god, but will prefer superheroes who are more grounded and more like humans, because this will better resonate with the audience emotionally."

Wu Yuchen couldn't help but sigh that Spielberg's brain turned really fast. He associated it with Marvel as soon as he said it. He gave Spielberg a thumbs up: "This was discovered by you~"

"I also associated a lot after this *Pirates of the Caribbean* and your point of view. 20 years ago, the most popular superheroes were Superman and Batman, and protagonists like 007. But in recent years, whether it is Superman, Batman, or the 007 series, they have all entered a trough, which is very consistent with your statement. If so, in the future, the audience's taste and trend will change, and Marvel's heroes will replace Superman and Batman and start singing the lead?"

This is also something that happened in the previous life. Superman filmed several films that were not very successful, and Batman was given humanity by Nolan, adding many human weaknesses to him, letting him come down from the altar and be grounded, so that he could reshape the brilliance of the trilogy.

Zhou Zhou Jielun shook his head repeatedly: "Brother Huang Xiao Ming, I don't have any confidence. I would thank God if I could win a Best Newcomer award. I don't even dare to think about the other awards!"

Spielberg also smiled. He was just talking casually. He didn't hope that Wu Yuchen would go to Warner to engage in any Batman or Superman. What does this have to do with their DreamWorks? *Pirates of the Caribbean* is DreamWorks' top priority! If you have this time, you should urge Wu Yuchen to film the sequel as soon as possible!

……

However, in front of Huang Huang Xiao Ming, Little Zhou still didn't dare to be big. Although his first album *Jay* was considered popular, and many music critics didn't give it a low evaluation, in terms of influence and current status in the circle, he couldn't compare with the Asian top group like F4. He and Huang Huang Xiao Ming's popularity are unknown how many Mayday apart.

Spielberg smiled and said:

"Little Zhou, amazing! You nominated for 4 awards the first time you came, worthy of being a great talent!" Huang Huang Xiao Ming gave a thumbs up to Zhou Zhou Jielun beside him.

This is indeed Little Zhou's heartfelt words. The other awards have quite a few old seniors. The Chinese awards are serious about seniority. He doesn't dare to have any hope, nor does he think his talent is really much better than these old seniors. What he really thinks has the greatest hope is this year's Best Newcomer award!

Huang Huang Xiao Ming also sent blessings to Zhou Zhou Jielun: "I think you are definitely no problem for Best Newcomer this year!"

"Hehe, thank you Brother Huang Xiao Ming~"

Not long after the Golden Melody Awards ceremony started, the first award related to Zhou Zhou Jielun, the Best Newcomer award, began to be presented, which also affected many people's hearts.

"Let me look at the Best Newcomer award nominations this year……"

On the big screen, the MVs of several newcomers' representative works began to be played in turn: Stefanie Sun's *Darkness*, Zhou Zhou Jielun's *Lovely Woman*, Penny Tai's *Don't Want*, Christine Fan's *Can't Arrive*, and Lin Fan's *Living Alone*.

If Wu Yuchen were on the scene, he would probably sigh at the strength of the candidates for Best Newcomer this year, but at this moment, everyone in the audience thinks it is normal. This is the Chinese music scene that is still in the golden age!

Zhou Zhou Jielun stared at the stage without blinking, only hoping that the name spoken by the presenter in the next moment would be his own.

"The Best Newcomer this year is…… Stefanie Sun!"

With a wow, a girl with a middle part and full of vitality jumped up from her chair, and the smile on her face kept overflowing, showing how happy she was at this moment.

Some people are happy, naturally some are sad. Sad Little Zhou watched Stefanie Sun jump onto the podium, his heart full of envy.

However, he also knew that it was normal for the Best Newcomer award to be given to Stefanie Sun, because Stefanie Sun's *Darkness* was really too popular. Both of them released their self-titled albums last year, but the total Asian sales of Stefanie Sun's album were more than twice his, with more fans and greater influence. Stefanie Sun's Best Newcomer is well-deserved.

But although he knew this truth, watching the Best Newcomer award disappear with his own eyes, Zhou Zhou Jielun still felt lost in his heart. After all, coming to the Golden Melody Awards this time, the award he had the most hope for was this one. Now it seems he can only return empty-handed……

At this time, Huang Huang Xiao Ming patted Zhou Zhou Jielun on the shoulder: "Jay, don't be too sad. In my opinion, you are the best newcomer. Your creative talent is much stronger than Stefanie Sun's!"

Listening to Huang Huang Xiao Ming's comfort, Zhou Zhou Jielun also felt warm in his heart and smiled at Huang Huang Xiao Ming: "Thank you Brother Huang Xiao Ming, I'm fine. I came here with the mentality of seeing the world today!"

Huang Huang Xiao Ming smiled and said to Zhou Zhou Jielun: "Jay, isn't Director Wu's *Pirates of the Caribbean* released in Taiwan these two days? I will book the venue tomorrow. You bring your friends, and let's watch it together!"

"Okay, thank you Brother Huang Xiao Ming!" Zhou Zhou Jielun thought of his good friend Vincent Fang when he heard this.

Now that guy, besides writing lyrics, wants to jump to the film and television production department of Bai Xiong. He wanted to know F4 before, and this time he just introduced them.

As for Huang Huang Xiao Ming, for Wu Yuchen, he is an actor from Beijing Film Academy. Although he became popular in Asia through F4, much of his energy was occupied by singing and dancing. But he, Huang Huang Xiao Ming, never gave up his actor dream!

His ultimate dream is to be able to play a male lead in his teacher Wu's play, but he also knows that he is still far behind. Not to mention other things, just the *Han Son of Heaven* he filmed in the first half of this year, after playing against Chen Daoming, he knew how big the gap was between him and these old drama bones.

However, he will not give up this dream. One day, he will conquer Teacher Wu with his acting skills and make him proud of himself!

And soon, it was Huang Huang Xiao Ming's turn to concentrate, because it was the Best Band award related to their F4.

Although he personally felt that F4 had the best chance of winning this award, he was afraid of encountering some cold situation. After all, their F4 is not a local group in Taiwan, and the other nominees like Mayday and Noodle are all native to Taiwan.

Especially this Mayday has quite a reputation in Taiwan now. Although they can't compare with their F4 in all aspects, what if the Golden Melody Awards just want to cultivate local musicians?

"The winner of the Best Band award this year is…… F4!"

However, there was no accident. After hearing the announcement on the stage, F4's faces were full of joy, but they were not too excited. After all, they had seen many big scenes, and this award was considered expected.

"Brother Huang Xiao Ming, congratulations!"

After Huang Huang Xiao Ming heard Zhou Zhou Jielun's congratulations, he hugged him lightly, then blinked at Zhou Zhou Jielun and said: "Jay, share some of my good luck with you, and you can win an award next~"

After speaking, Huang Huang Xiao Ming blinked at Zhou Zhou Jielun, and then followed his brothers to the stage to receive the award. Little Zhou looked at Huang Huang Xiao Ming at this moment, and couldn't help but feel slightly moved, feeling that this good brother was really too warm!

On the stage, host Matilda Tao saw F4 go up, and immediately learned the look of those crazy girl fans of F4: "Wow! F4, I love you!"

Huang Huang Xiao Ming also smiled and said: "Sister Tao, we all love you too, and often watch your show!"

"Do you really? Then I will be very shy~"

The audience was full of laughter, watching Matilda Tao playing treasure and enlivening the atmosphere on it.

A moment later, Huang Huang Xiao Ming said to the audience: "Thank you very much for the Golden Melody Awards for giving the Best Band to our F4. This is the best reward and affirmation for our efforts in the past year. Thank my mom and dad, thank my teacher, thank the company, thank the fans who support us, we will always love you!"

……

Next, many awards were presented one after another, and it was just as Zhou Zhou Jielun expected……

"Best Composer…… Lee Shih-shiong, *Darkness*!"

"Best Album Producer…… Big Brother Jonathan Lee, *Twelve Floors of Karen Mok*!"

Little Zhou applauded below. These two awards he was nominated for were indeed not destined for him and were taken by big seniors.

And the last award, which is also the most important award of the Golden Melody Awards……

"The nominations for Best Album are:

Wang Fei *Fable*;

Stefanie Sun *My Happiness*;

Karen Mok *Twelve Floors of Karen Mok*;

Zhou Zhou Jielun *Jay*;

Na Ying *Sad Romance*."

Zhou Zhou Jielun shook his head in his heart. Look at who these nominees are. Even the diva Wang Fei is among them. He, Zhou Zhou Jielun, is a small shrimp in front of Wang Fei. What can he win?

Therefore, Zhou Zhou Jielun didn't have any expectations for this award at all, but analyzed it with the mentality of a spectator, feeling that Stefanie Sun was unlikely, and Karen Mok's album was produced by the big boss Jonathan Lee, so there was hope. As for Na Ying…… although she is a senior, he is not very familiar with her. But the most likely one should be Wang Fei!

Wang Fei's *Fable* was a great success after its launch. It won quite a few awards last year, such as Hong Kong's Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs, Top Ten Jade Solid Gold, Global Chinese Music Chart, etc.

Just when Zhou Zhou Jielun was thinking about seven and eight, the presenter on the stage also announced in the eyes of the whole audience:

"The winner of the Best Pop Music Singing Album award this year is……"

Then he suddenly raised his head and shouted: "Let us congratulate, Zhou Zhou Jielun!"

Wow……

Many people in the audience were shocked. They didn't expect that this award would fall on the *Jay* of Zhou Zhou Jielun, who had just debuted!

However, everyone reacted quickly. The next moment, the whole audience burst into applause, and they all turned their heads to look at the position where Zhou Zhou Jielun was.

Zhou Zhou Jielun didn't realize what happened yet, and was looking around. However, he only saw Huang Huang Xiao Ming beside him grabbing his shoulder, his face full of joy and shouting: "Jay, you won the award! Best Album award!"

Me? Best Album? Best Album! The winner is me!

Zhou Zhou Jielun only felt confused in his head. How is this possible? Not dreaming, right?

Looking at Zhou Zhou Jielun's dull look, Huang Huang Xiao Ming shook him and patted him hard again: "Jay! You won the award! The biggest award tonight! Go to the stage to receive the award!"

To be honest, even Huang Huang Xiao Ming didn't expect that Zhou Zhou Jielun, a newcomer, could win the most powerful Best Album award of the Golden Melody Awards tonight! This thing is similar to the Best Film award in film awards!

He was just encouraging and comforting Zhou Zhou Jielun before, but he didn't expect it to come true!

Zhou Zhou Jielun was shaken a few more times by Huang Huang Xiao Ming before he was slightly sober, then hurriedly hugged Huang Huang Xiao Ming, hugged the other three F4 members one after another, nodded to the people around him, and walked onto the stage with a silly smile.

After Zhou Zhou Jielun went on stage, host Matilda Tao couldn't help but tease: "Jay, congratulations on winning the award! But few people come up wearing a baseball cap like you~"

Zhou Zhou Jielun, who was a bit nervous, hurriedly reached out and wanted to take off his hat. When Matilda Tao saw this, she immediately said: "It doesn't matter, you look handsome wearing a hat~"

There was a burst of laughter in the audience, and everyone could see that this newcomer Zhou Zhou Jielun was an honest child.

"Zhou Zhou Jielun, I just saw you chatting happily with Huang Huang Xiao Ming beside you in the audience. Can you tell me what you were talking about?"

"Nothing, it's just that Brother Huang Xiao Ming congratulated me on winning the award, and he said he would take me to watch Director Wu Yuchen's *Pirates of the Caribbean* tomorrow……"

Matilda Tao immediately made an exaggerated expression: "Roar, Huang Huang Xiao Ming, so you were discussing this kind of thing!"

However, the next moment, her face turned and she begged: "Can you take me one?"

Suddenly, there was another burst of laughter in the audience, and Huang Huang Xiao Ming naturally nodded with a smile.

Then, Matilda Tao led the topic back to the main point: "Come, Zhou Zhou Jielun, after winning such an important award, tell me if you have any special feelings?"

Zhou Zhou Jielun's brain was also wood, and he learned from the previous people and said: "Thank my mom, my grandma…… thank Xian Ge for bringing me into the industry……"

However, fortunately, he remembered Huang Huang Xiao Ming's words just now, and immediately said: "Thank the company for cultivating me!"

At this moment, he is really grateful to the company. If it weren't for the company's efforts, why would he win the Best Album this time!

Regarding losing the Best Newcomer award, Little Zhou didn't care at all at this moment. After all, the Best Album honor is much higher than the Best Newcomer. He didn't think that he would have plenty of opportunities to win the Best Album award in the future, but the opportunity for the Best Newcomer award is only this once!

The next day, the results of this Golden Melody Awards also spread throughout the Chinese-speaking regions, and the news that Huang Huang Xiao Ming invited Zhou Zhou Jielun and others to watch *Pirates of the Caribbean* naturally spread as well.

But to be honest, with Wu Yuchen's fame today and the influence of *Pirates of the Caribbean*, it doesn't need this kind of publicity at all.

Since *Jurassic Park* broke through Taiwan in 1993, Taiwan's film market has long been ruled by Hollywood. Hong Kong films were beaten to pieces here. In the past ten years, the box office champion in Taiwan, except for *My Sassy Girl*, all others are Hollywood Western films, even if Jackie Chan comes, it doesn't work, and he is beaten.

Today's Taiwan film market is basically Hollywood's back garden, so *Pirates of the Caribbean* plus Wu Yuchen is almost the first choice for cinemas and audiences in Taiwan.

It can only be said that stars competing to watch *Pirates of the Caribbean* is just adding a little interesting news to *Pirates of the Caribbean*.

And this *Pirates of the Caribbean*, because the director is Wu Yuchen, plus the family-friendly type, has set off a viewing wave in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the box office is rising steadily.

As for the mainland, although there is the care of Han Sanping, because it is an imported film, the pace is still slower, and it cannot be released with other places. It is estimated that it will have to wait until August for mainland audiences to see it.

Wu Yuchen doesn't know the situation of *Pirates of the Caribbean* in Asia, and he has no energy to pay attention to it. At this moment, he has boarded the flight to Moscow, Russia, to participate in the bid for the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games! ===== CHAPTER 241 =====

Wu Yuchen didn't know the situation regarding *Pirates of the Caribbean* over in Asia, nor did he have the energy to pay attention to it. At this very moment, he had already boarded a flight to Moscow, Russia, to participate on-site in the bid for the host city of the 2008 Olympic Games!
