Chapter 50

Yin Qi said calmly: "It's very simple, Old Master, you can take the Foundation Establishment Pill and you will know how effective it is. I believe you wouldn't think I would poison you or anything like that."

Zhang Yunze nodded.

He is just an old man, and he has no feud with Yin Qi; the other party couldn't possibly harm him.

Yin Qi continued: "As for your second doubt, I will tell you after you have tried the efficacy of the Foundation Establishment Pill."

"Alright!"

Zhang Yunze nodded. He picked up the porcelain bottle, pulled out the stopper, and poured out a pill the size of a longan.

Because it was wrapped in a layer of beeswax, he couldn't see the color or smell the scent.

He didn't hesitate much and swallowed it.

Afterwards, he slowly closed his eyes.

As a famous doctor, tasting medicine is the most basic skill, so he would know how effective the Foundation Establishment Pill was once he tasted it.

Very quickly, Zhang Yunze was moved. He felt a warm current rising in his abdomen, which quickly surged through his whole body. He felt as if he were soaking in a hot spring, and his whole body felt an indescribable comfort.

He always felt a sense of powerlessness in his originally aged body.

But after this pill went down, he felt as if he had returned to his youth, his whole body full of energy, as if there was endless strength in his body, and even his sluggish thinking became much lighter.

It took a full half-hour before the efficacy of the Foundation Establishment Pill slowly faded.

"Good stuff, truly good stuff!"

Zhang Yunze opened his eyes, unable to help but praise repeatedly, shocked beyond measure.

Although there were various secret medicines in the palace, compared to this Foundation Establishment Pill, it was simply a world of difference.

He didn't care whether martial arts training was twice as effective with half the effort.

But regular consumption could prolong life, that was absolutely no problem.

Yin Qi said: "Old Master, you must have personally experienced the efficacy of the Foundation Establishment Pill. Since this Dragon Tiger Embryo-Changing Ointment is for external use, the effect is not so obvious, but I believe you don't need to doubt its efficacy either."

Zhang Yunze nodded.

Since there was such a miraculous Foundation Establishment Pill, Yin Qi naturally had no need to use the Dragon Tiger Embryo-Changing Ointment to deceive him.

Only then did Yin Qi begin to speak about the matter: "I want to use the formulas for the Foundation Establishment Pill and the Dragon Tiger Embryo-Changing Ointment as collateral to borrow 500,000 silver dollars from your money shop, and I need it today. The loan term is three years, you set the interest, but I can repay it early. If I cannot repay it within three years, these two formulas will be yours, and I will teach you the refining method step by step."

As he spoke, he took out a sealed envelope from his bosom and placed it on the table: "Both formulas are in the envelope, I wonder if this is acceptable?"

Mortgaging the pill formulas was the method he thought of.

As for whether the pill formulas would be leaked, Yin Qi was not worried, because the Yin family would definitely have the strength to pay off the loan within three years; in fact, they wouldn't even need three years, they could do it before long.

Of course, there is another possibility, which is that the Zhang family would not keep their word and secretly open the envelope to peek.

Although the envelope was sealed with lacquer, the Zhang family could actually manage to see the pill formulas without damaging it.

But if they did that, the Zhang family would be destined to lose both their wife and soldiers.

Because he had stuffed two blank sheets of paper into the envelope.

If the Zhang family didn't bring it up, that would be fine; once they brought it up, he could completely play the villain and accuse them first, saying that the Zhang family had swapped it to frame him. At that time, with no proof of death, he wouldn't even need to repay the money.

In essence, this belongs to fraud.

But as long as the Zhang family keeps their word, he will definitely repay the loan early and take back the envelope. Then only he will know about this matter, and he will just take care of the Zhang family more in the future.

Although the means are a bit unpleasant, one must guard against others.

Asking for 500,000 silver dollars in one breath also gave Zhang Yunze a big fright. He hurriedly asked: "What's going on? Why do you need to borrow so much money, and why do you need it so urgently?"

"My family fell into a trap set by others..."

Yin Qi sighed, and he didn't hide it, telling the whole story, because for such a major event, even if the Zhang family agreed to the loan, they would definitely investigate the situation; it couldn't be hidden at all.

Zhang Yunze was also shocked, and then his face was full of anger: "It's those foreign devils again. Yin Qi, I agree to this matter. Tianxing, go call Fenglai back, hurry."

"Alright, Old Master!"

The old steward serving on the side nodded hurriedly and walked out quickly.

Yin Qi bowed and said gratefully: "Thank you, Old Master, for your help. I will definitely keep this kindness in my heart."

"It can't be considered a great kindness; these two formulas of yours are worth this price. Moreover, I don't like foreigners either, it's just a pity that my words carry little weight, so I can only turn a deaf ear."

Zhang Yunze waved his hand.

In fact, the reason he was willing to help Yin Qi was more because he thought highly of Yin Qi.

Yin Qi had also studied with him for over ten days, and he was very clear about the other party's character and intelligence; he would definitely achieve great things in the future.

What's more, his own granddaughter was also enamored with the other party; who knows, he might be his future grandson-in-law.

Therefore, no matter what, he had to help with this favor.

As for the Foundation Establishment Pill, once Yin Qi becomes his grandson-in-law, would this thing be in short supply for him?

Zhang Fenglai was not at home; I'm afraid it would take some time for him to return.

So, Zhang Yunze simply started teaching Yin Qi his medical insights, but just after speaking a few sentences, he heard the happy voice of Zhang Youchu coming from outside: "Second Brother, you're here!"

Zhang Youchu was wearing a cyan dress today, which set off her fair skin, like a lotus flower emerging from the water.

"Chuchu!"

Yin Qi greeted her, the address quite familiar.

He had been coming to the Zhang family these days and always managed to run into Zhang Youchu, so they gradually became familiar.

As someone who had been through it, how could he not see the other party's intentions?

For such a sweet-looking, gentle, and virtuous young girl, he naturally liked her in his heart, but the two sides were not that familiar yet, and he still had various things to be busy with, so he didn't rush to break through this layer of window paper.

What's more, if he didn't achieve some results, her father Zhang Fenglai would definitely break up the couple.

Zhang Youchu was sensitive; she saw the solemnity deep in Yin Qi's eyes, and he wasn't as casual as usual, so she couldn't help but ask: "Second Brother, did something happen?"

Yin Qi nodded: "Hmm, something happened, I came to ask Old Master for some help."

Zhang Youchu hurriedly walked to Zhang Yunze's side and acted like a spoiled child: "Grandfather, Second Brother can be said to be your apprentice, you can't not help!"

"Stop shaking, if you shake any more, Grandfather will fall apart!"

Zhang Yunze said helplessly: "You, you don't even know what he's asking Grandfather to help with, and you didn't wait to find out before speaking. What if he's trying to sell you?"

Zhang Youchu's face turned red instantly, and she said coquettishly: "Grandfather, Second Brother wouldn't do that. By the way, Second Brother, what are you asking my grandfather to do? Maybe I can help too?"

Yin Qi didn't know how to say it, so he said: "Wait, when your father comes, I'll say it all at once."

"My father!"

Zhang Youchu was startled.

She didn't ask any more questions, knowing it must be a major event.

Because her father had always looked at Yin Qi with displeasure; if it weren't a major event, I'm afraid there would be no need to wait for her father.

The three of them looked at each other, not knowing what to say instead.

Just like that, the dull atmosphere passed for nearly an hour before it was broken by a burst of rapid footsteps outside.

Two people walked in quickly.

The leader was the old steward, followed by a refined middle-aged man.

The refined middle-aged man was Zhang Youchu's father, Zhang Fenglai, wearing a cyan robe and glasses, looking very scholarly.

"Father!"

Zhang Fenglai called out, then glanced at Yin Qi and Zhang Youchu.

Zhang Yunze nodded and said: "On the way, did Uncle Zhou explain it clearly to you? Do you have anything you want to ask?"

Uncle Zhou was the old steward Zhou Tianxing.

Zhang Fenglai nodded and asked sternly: "Father, I have one question. Setting aside all feelings, are those two formulas of his worth that price?"
