Chapter 152

~7 min read 1,210 words

As a qualified reserve noble, Alvin had to learn how to protect himself.

First step: get the Terminator to go beat the hell out of that bastard!

Otherwise, Yan Liang, the Watcher squad commander, would never allow their rescue target to join such a dangerous decapitation mission.

It was only after Alvin begged and pleaded incessantly that Yan Liang reluctantly agreed to let him participate in this decapitation mission.

The reason was simple—he simply couldn't swallow this humiliation!

Even if he couldn't kill Galken with his own hands, he had to watch the bastard's head cut off—only then could he vent his rage.

For the men of the 175th Regiment, 3rd Company who died. For Commissar Gray!

And for the innocent Emeric siblings, for all the lives dragged into this tragedy because of this bastard!

If not for this old fool, he never would've been dragged into this mess.

With his "golden finger," he should've been slowly developing, inching his way out of the stars to witness the rise and fall of the Empire.

Not like now, with Old K chasing him down and beating his ass!

In short—it was all Galken's fault, period!

Alvin poured all his hatred onto Galken Hadley, glaring at the grotesque, twisted, repulsive body warped by Chaos!

"You? You!"

Galken's face split down the middle like torn flesh, revealing two grotesque visages; his eyes, avian in shape, stared fixedly at Alvin from either side—shifting from fury to delight, his mouth contorting into a hideous grin: "Perfect! Perfect! You actually showed up yourself!"

He had "seen" it—the Great Lord of Change was watching this "human"!

If he offered this boy to the Lord of Change, he would earn greater "blessings," becoming an eternal being beyond humanity!

"Do you see? This is the supreme wisdom granted to me by the Lord of Change!"

Galken swung the pink arm bestowed by the Lord of Change, sparks of magic dancing along its surface!

Hook-like claws, harder than adamantine, tore through the warp's psychic energy, summoning roaring, blazing flames that surged to engulf the intruders in the sanctuary.

BOOM—!

Yet the surging warp-flames were blocked by the Terminator's massive shield, like a door slab.

The other Astartes moved swiftly, silently retreating behind the sanctuary's pillars, using them as cover against the warp-fire.

"Kid, fall back!"

A muffled voice came from within the Terminator, signaling Alvin to stay out of it.

Then, the Terminator advanced with heavy, stomping steps, like a siege engine, shield raised, charging toward "Galken."

The Astartes hiding behind the pillars immediately coordinated with the Terminator's charge—two of them switched their bolters to full-auto, unleashing a torrent of bullets to suppress!

In an instant, golden fire poured forth like a flood, drowning Galken.

Bolts slammed into his psychic barrier, triggering blinding sparks.

THUD THUD THUD.

Two Astartes sprinted forward, their movements so fast they blurred in the blink of an eye!

Galken, pinned under bolter fire, knew he couldn't let the Astartes close in—otherwise, he'd be decapitated. So his pink arm's five fingers, like avian talons, clenched tightly—air exploded violently, a shockwave ripping outward!

The two Astartes attempting to close in were blasted backward by the explosion!

Seizing the brief respite, Galken's wings began flapping—he planned to flee first, escape the Astartes' surveillance, then deal with that brat.

"Heretic, you won't escape!" But with the two Astartes delaying him, the Terminator had already arrived!

A massive power-fist, wreathed in terrifying force, slammed toward his face like a cannonball!

THUD!!!

Galken, caught off-guard, took the full blow.

His entire head rang like a bell; his massive body was flung backward, smashing through sanctuary pillars, rolling helplessly several times.

"Suppress!"

The remaining three Astartes stepped out from cover, bolters raised, continuing suppression while advancing steadily.

"Frag grenades!"

Calm, efficient—throughout, their tactical formation never wavered.

Perhaps in sudden ambushes, the Watchers weren't the strongest chapter—but given time and enemy intel, the Watchers would show their foes what "Ultramarines tactics" meant, what the "Codex Astartes" truly was!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Several frag grenades detonated at point-blank range.

Shrapnel, propelled by hyper-kinetic force, sank deep into Galken's flesh, forcing a howl of agony from him.

"Don't let him escape—block all exit routes!"

The squad commander instantly saw Galken's intent and issued a cold, composed order.

Then he drew his leg-mounted plasma pistol, aimed at Galken's wings, and fired.

Think you can run? Dream on!

I'll rip off your wings, break your legs—see how you run then!

BOOM!

The searing plasma bolt churned the air, carving out a literal "tunnel!"

The superheated fireball instantly turned Galken's wings into bare, charred bone—all hardened feathers melted to nothing.

"Aaaah!"

Galken had barely struggled to his feet when the Terminator's power-fist slammed into his forehead, knocking him flat again.

What followed was the Watcher squad's methodical, precise, cold-blooded execution—systematically eliminating every threatening part: wings, the pink arm blessed by Tzeentch—all gone, one by one.

Galken had imagined, after being blessed by the Lord of Change, slaughtering the Emperor's angels with ease.

But now, as an enemy of the Emperor's angels, he finally understood why past Chaos cultists had looked at Astartes with near-despair.

Ruthless, cold, efficient—like machines, with zero mistakes!

From the start—Terminator front-line resistance and suppression, rear firepower suppression, squad members drawing attention, then seizing a single opening to pin him down and beat him senseless.

Galken's mind was still a chaotic mess.

He couldn't understand—he'd been blessed by the Lord of Change, so why was he still being crushed by the Emperor's angels?

THUD!

In his daze, a power-fist full of fury slammed into Galken's body.

Though the Terminator in power armor looked bulky, its punch was no joke—had Galken not been slightly enhanced by Tzeentch, those two blows would've turned him into paste.

Even Tzeentch's blessing couldn't withstand the Terminator's full-power hammering!

Galken screamed in agony, feeling the Terminator on top of him treating him like a punching bag—punch after punch, like a rainstorm pouring down!

Blood and shredded flesh sprayed out—this scene, to Alvin's eyes, was already a bit too bloody.

But all he could say was: good—hit harder!

"S-save me…"

Galken moaned desperately, placing all hope in the Great Lord of Change.

He still had more plots, more dazzling "performances" to offer!

Whether or not Tzeentch in the Crystal Labyrinth heard his faithful plea, a miracle did manifest.

Suddenly, blinding magical sparks erupted within the Imperial sanctuary; surging power flung the Terminator and all the Astartes away like flies!

The Astartes inside the Terminator's eyes narrowed—like he'd seen something horrific.

Not just the Terminator—all the other Astartes turned, without exception, toward Alvin's position.

A dread premonition surged through Alvin.

"What… are they looking at?"

But soon, he knew exactly what the Astartes and Terminator were staring at.

Unstoppable cold, surging malice, and a piercing, chilling shriek rose from behind Alvin!

Startled, his neck stiffened—he slowly turned his head.

There stood a three-meter-tall demon: two hawk heads atop a human body, draped in a robe woven from ornate threads, holding a crystal scepter; its twin avian heads lowered, four eyes fixed on him with keen interest.

"We… meet again, Alvin Valshus."

The demon's single sentence turned Alvin's blood to ice.

Shit—just escaped Old K, and now I've landed in Old Six's hands again?
