Chapter 3

150 units of energy?!

If not for his sanity restraining his emotions in time, Alvin would have been screaming with excitement.

A deflection field generator was a real, solid piece of good equipment; although he didn't know how strong its defensive power was, at least blocking a bullet or something would be no problem at all.

He had really picked up a treasure; the Emperor had manifested!

Although his heart was beating fast, Alvin still maintained a look of disdain on his face, looking helpless: "The things you have here are basically all trash."

"Nonsense, if it wasn't trash, would it be my turn to sell it?" The stall owner sneered, disdainful: "Do you want it or not? If not, just exchange it all for nutrient porridge."

"Forget it, I couldn't finish that much nutrient porridge."

Alvin shook his head, then pretended to be indecisive, finally picking out the old-style lasgun and the worn-out battery, mixing in the copper piece, and said with a look of disappointment: "These things, plus three portions of nutrient porridge."

Although the stall owner saw the copper piece, he didn't care; this thing was everywhere, who knew what part it had fallen off of: "The market price of a portion of nutrient porridge is about ten crowns; I'll take the loss on the rest. If you have good things next time, remember to come find me again."

Take a loss?

That was a bit funny.

It was well known that scavengers would eat dog shit on the side of the road, but they would never take a loss.

But Alvin couldn't be bothered to expose the other party, just smiled and nodded: "Fine, if I have good things next time, I'll definitely come find you."

Packing up the items, he turned and left the black market.

The stall owner held the gas mask, but his gaze was fixed on the direction Alvin had left, revealing a thoughtful expression.

After Alvin left the black market, he wasn't in a hurry to go home.

Instead, he deliberately took a long detour, and after confirming he wasn't being followed, he threw away the clothes in an uninhabited corner and burned them clean with fire.

After doing all this, he breathed a sigh of relief as if relieved of a heavy burden: "Now, it should be safe."

Never underestimate anyone, especially the scum of the lower nest.

The other party had a metal prosthetic, which obviously meant he wasn't an ordinary lower-nest guy, so Alvin wasn't sure if his little trick just now could fool that guy.

But burning the clothes could completely eliminate the scent, so even if the other party reacted later, they couldn't possibly find him.

Although these clothes were his only remaining 'assets', for the sake of safety, Alvin believed it was necessary to eliminate the danger; only a cautious person could survive in the wasteland.

Having solved the hidden danger, Alvin felt at ease following the familiar path back to his predecessor's home.

Calling it a 'home' was actually just a dog kennel transformed from a completely abandoned scrapyard that even scavengers didn't look at, filled with a rich, pungent odor and filth visible everywhere.

But even so, Alvin inexplicably felt a sense of peace.

The simple shack made of tin was his home, the place where he had grown up.

Returning to the tin shack, Alvin had long been hungry, so he immediately tore open a bag of nutrient porridge and poured it straight in.

Tasting the nutrient porridge for the first time, the thick, tasteless paste nearly made him vomit.

No matter how he looked at it, this thing was no different from 'vomit', but in the end, between sanity and hunger, hunger gained the upper hand.

Alvin closed his eyes, hardened his heart, and drank the whole bag of nutrient porridge in big gulps.

The feeling of hunger was finally relieved, and he could barely understand why such a portion of nutrient porridge was in such high demand in the lower nest.

Because no matter how hard it was to eat, at least this thing... could keep a person alive.

Although he really wanted to sleep right now, sanity told Alvin that he had to hurry up and reactivate the 'watch face'.

The threat of the Xuefu Gang was secondary.

With the help of the 'Golden Finger', Alvin was full of confidence, but what really concerned him was the person in black robes he had seen talking to the Tiechui Gang in his memories.

If he hadn't guessed wrong, that mysterious person in black robes was very likely a... psyker!

Psykers drew energy from the Warp and could unleash extraordinary destructive power, so any psyker was an extremely dangerous existence.

It was well known that once something was related to the Warp, it meant... this matter was absolutely not small!

Especially since the words 'skull' and 'sacrifice' had been spoken by the black-robed psyker, which made Alvin feel even more anxious.

Warp, psyker, skull, sacrifice...

With these four words pieced together, it was basically telling Alvin that the enemy was preparing to summon a 'Khorne demon'.

Khorne, demon—once they appeared in the Warhammer universe, the result was either death or a fate worse than death.

Should he go find an Inquisitor?

However, this thought lasted less than half a second in Alvin's mind before he directly rejected it.

Not to mention that he, a lower-nest trash collector, couldn't even see an Inquisitor; he would likely be shot dead as a rioter on the spot.

Even if he could really see an Inquisitor and report the situation of 'cult' lunatics possibly infiltrating the lower nest, what would greet him would definitely not be a medal, but a bullet.

Then, the Inquisitor would decide whether to issue an 'Exterminatus' based on the cult situation.

Even in the most ideal scenario, that group of die-hard lunatics, the Inquisitors, would directly wipe out the entire lower nest, citing the prevention of cultist contamination.

Human life was the least valuable thing in the Warhammer universe.

But if he didn't say anything, once the cult's blood sacrifice ritual succeeded, what might come then would be... the Grey Knights!

Alvin's face was bitter; if the Grey Knights really descended, he was afraid the entire planet would be wiped out.

"Activate the watch face as soon as possible, then find a way to stop those lunatics."

Doing this wasn't for the sake of bullshit justice, but purely because Alvin didn't want to be implicated.

If things really blew up, he wouldn't even have a place to run when the Exterminatus came; he could only pray for the Emperor's manifestation under the macro-cannons and hope to transmigrate to a different world in his next life.

The urgency brought by the cult made Alvin cast aside distractions and place everything he had acquired from the black market in front of him.

He suppressed his excitement and picked up the copper piece: "Energy is in hand, but how do I transfer it into the 'watch face'?"

Just as he was pondering, the 'watch face' placed on his chest seemed to sense the energy and vibrated slightly.

Alvin took out the 'watch face', pondered slightly, took the copper piece, and stuck it onto the 'watch face'.

An imperceptible light flashed, and then the mechanical sound appeared again.

【Can replenish energy: 150 units】

Alvin was secretly happy; it really worked.

But looking at this copper piece, he hesitated for a moment and asked: "Can you only replenish one hundred units?"

The deflection field generator was definitely a top-tier defensive item; if not for the lack of energy units, he wouldn't have been willing to use it for replenishment.

【Replenish energy: 100 units】

The 'watch face' was indeed very sensible, leaving him with 50 units. In this way, if he used the deflection field generator sparingly, it would block several fatal attacks for him at critical moments.

After replenishing the energy, the 'watch face' directly merged into his wrist, like a tattoo.

This change made Alvin very satisfied, so he didn't have to worry about it being lost or discovered by others.

【Navigator: Alvin】

【Race: Human】

【Occupation: Scavenger】

【Anchor world: None】

【Remaining energy: 100 units】

【Respected Navigator, would you like to travel to... a new world?】

Alvin picked up the old-style lasgun, put the copper piece into his bosom, and after preparing everything, he confirmed: "Yes, travel to a new world!"

Suddenly, it was as if a black hole had opened directly in front of him.

The immense suction force swallowed the bewildered Alvin whole, and then he directly disappeared.

By the time Alvin opened his eyes again, he found himself in an alleyway.

"It's this kind of place every time; could it be that I'm fated with this shitty place?" Alvin muttered in silence, then looked up at the night sky.

The moon was bright and the stars were sparse; the night was like gauze.

Even the cool evening breeze of summer made him feel nostalgic and intoxicated.

People, only after losing something, do they understand how important what they once had was.

Just like Alvin, after transmigrating to the Warhammer universe, even breathing a mouthful of 21st-century air felt like it couldn't be more luxurious.

"This is... truly living!"

Alvin opened his arms and took a deep breath of air, as if reborn.

The LED screen of a commercial building across the street was playing a video.

A handsome young man in a dark blue bodysuit with a stars-and-stripes cape, looking like a god descending to earth, was being interviewed, his sunny smile like that of an innocent boy.

"The Seven, under the Vought International banner, led by Homelander, successfully crushed the conspiracy of the resistance organization and saved hundreds of citizens."

Alvin froze when he saw the person in the video.

Isn't this... Homelander?!
