Chapter 333: The Living Person in the Cannibal Tribe

~8 min read 1,443 words

The melee of several thousand people was still one-sided; although the Cannibal Tribe had more people, the proportion of actual main-force men was not high, and coupled with the lack of proper Weaponry, it took several of them surrounding one Huaxia Soldier to even have a chance of causing injury, but basically, they couldn't even get close before being cut down by a Knife and losing their ability to fight.

By the time the battle had been going on for over twenty minutes, the Cannibal Tribe no longer had any ability to counterattack; everyone was just running away in chaos, and the Huaxia people were simply pursuing the fleeing enemies.

In the end, on the battlefield, mangled flesh and severed limbs were everywhere, and blood had turned the earth into bloody mud; people slipped when walking on it, and the blood pooled together in low-lying areas, forming pools of blood and rivers of blood that flowed slowly down the mountain.

However, not a single drop of blood belonged to a Huaxia Soldier; their Soldiers mainly suffered from bone fractures. Wearing Leather Armor, it was difficult for Stone Axes and Wooden Spears to cause them injury, but blunt objects could still hurt their bones. Fortunately, there were not many injured—a dozen or so, mostly with broken arms. After temporary splinting, there was no great danger, though the wounded were in agonizing pain. They would be sent to the camp shortly, where doctors with better medical skills would set their bones and fix them properly again. The two who went to the battlefield had the worst medical skills; the purpose of this arrangement was so that even if those two died, the loss would be relatively small.

This time, cleaning up the battlefield was even bloodier than the last, but fortunately, there were gains. A tribe of this size certainly didn't rely solely on eating people; humans were just a type of prey that was relatively easy to obtain in their diet.

A great deal of various wild beasts and animal hides were harvested, and there were Grass Seeds too, but Xiong and his men looked down on them—they were shriveled and not particularly suitable for consumption; although not poisonous, the texture and taste were very poor. However, they did not discard them, but collected them instead, preparing to take them back as feed; chickens and ducks wouldn't be picky.

As for Weaponry, not a single metal piece was seen, which was to be expected; such a barbaric tribe could not master metallurgy, and those who could possess metal weapons must be from a large tribe or be people of high status within a clan, who naturally would not run to a place like this alone and end up isolated and killed.

There were a great many bone products, stone products, and Pottery, but not a single piece was useful, so all were discarded. Some good-looking stones could be kept to take back for the King to see if they were of any use.

To their surprise, in one cave, they actually found two living people. Judging by their attire, they did not look like the Cannibal Tribe. One of the women had a somewhat dull expression; she must have been captured, though it was unknown why she hadn't died.

As for the other man, although his clothing was quite barbaric, it was relatively neat compared to the Cannibal Tribe. He had no wounds on his body and was sturdy in build; he didn't look like meat that had been captured, and he looked at the Huaxia Soldiers with extreme fear. Several of the searching Soldiers felt that the matter was not simple, so after exchanging glances, they did not kill them but instead escorted them to find Xiong, estimating that there would be some unexpected results.

After exiting the cave and seeing the Cannibal Tribe shattered into pieces all over the ground, as well as the Huaxia Soldiers—who were searching everywhere, clearing the battlefield, and whose clothing, appearance, and weapons were clearly not those of the Cannibal Tribe—the woman's eyes finally cleared up a bit, and for some reason, she suddenly began to cry.

The Soldiers were confused, and others were attracted by the woman's crying, all turning their heads to look for the source of the sound. Xiong also saw these two clearly different people, so he strode forward.

He then grabbed the woman's chin, roughly forced her mouth open to observe her teeth, looked at her eyes against the sunlight, and checked her hands and the scars on her body, determining that this woman was not from the Cannibal Tribe, so he let her go, having no intention of killing her.

As for that man, one look told him he was a Cannibal Tribe member. Beyond those characteristics, to be able to remain unscathed in a Cannibal Tribe camp and be so plump—if he wasn't high-ranking in the Cannibal Tribe, could he be anything other than kept fat meat?

Xiong drew his Knife and placed it against the man's throat, asking, "Can you understand human speech?"

The man was extremely terrified, but he still opened his mouth, which was full of yellow teeth: "Yes, I can understand."

Xiong did not lower the Knife, but instead brought it closer to his throat. The man could already feel the sharp blade touching his skin, and his panic grew even greater.

"If you can understand, then tell me, who are you in this tribe? Are you the Tribal Chief?"

The man hesitated slightly, only to feel the blade already cutting into his skin, so he said repeatedly: "Yes, yes, yes, I am the Tribal Chief of this tribe, my name is Yaoli!"

Xiong moved the Knife slightly away: "I didn't ask for your name; there's no need to be talkative. I only ask you: how many people are in your tribe? Besides here, are there any other places where savages live?"

Yaoli dared not hesitate: "I, I don't know how many people there are; I can't count. But right now, many people have gone out hunting and haven't returned. Besides here, there are two other places—one is over there, and one is in that direction; neither is very far."

Of the two directions Yaoli pointed to, one had already been slaughtered clean by them. As for the other, they hadn't gone there yet; that was their next target.

Xiong continued to press: "Are you sure you've told me everything? No concealment?"

Yaoli denied it repeatedly, saying he had no concealment.

Xiong then put down the Knife and had the Soldiers tie him up; do not kill him, he still had a use.

As for the woman, when asked questions, she was already somewhat dull and looked a bit foolish. Xiong felt it was uninteresting, but since she wasn't from the Cannibal Tribe, there was no need to kill her. He didn't know which tribe she was from, but since they had rescued her, there was no reason to send her back; he might as well take her back to his own country.

Xiong asked one last question: "What's the story with this woman?"

Yaoli glanced at the woman: "She was captured by our Soldiers. I originally intended to... uh, but she didn't die, so I kept her to sleep with; it's only been one day."

Xiong confirmed there was no mistake, then had the Soldiers send the woman to the doctor to have her checked; if there were any serious wounds, they should treat them. After all, a perfectly good woman was much more useful to bring back to the tribe than a pile of broken stones; at the market, such a woman couldn't be traded for without ten Salted Fish.

Yaoli had his hands and feet roughly tied with hemp rope by several Soldiers; he didn't cooperate much during the process, and it took two hard kicks before he finally settled down.

Seeing Xiong was about to leave, and realizing Xiong was the Leader here—perhaps even a Tribal Chief—he shouted his grievances loudly: "I am a tribesman of the Changshan Clan! I was forced into this; I have never eaten people! Let me go!"

Xiong wouldn't listen to his nonsense at all, nor did he care why a tribesman of a large clan would become a Tribal Chief of a Cannibal Tribe; that wasn't something he should consider. He only knew that the Cannibal Tribe deserved to die, but since he was still useful for the moment, he wouldn't kill him yet.

Yaoli was kicked in the face by a Soldier, which immediately knocked out several of his teeth, and he settled down instantly.
