Chapter 94

Lin Yifan couldn't help but casually stroke Mao Mao's feathers, and indeed, as he imagined, the feathers were incredibly smooth.

Moreover, he wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but while stroking Mao Mao's feathers, he always felt that although they looked gorgeous and colorful, appearing fragile, they were actually not fragile at all—rather, they were remarkably tough.

To verify whether his feeling was correct or not, Lin Yifan said to Mao Mao with a slightly pleading tone:

"Mao Mao, may I pluck a feather from you?"

Mao Mao's intelligence is roughly that of a three- or four-year-old child, so Lin Yifan never treats it as a mere pet, but interacts with it as an equal.

Upon hearing his words, Mao Mao tilted its head slightly, then turned and pecked off a feather, dropping it in front of Lin Yifan.

Lin Yifan picked up the feather and examined it closely in the lamp light, discovering that liquid like blood was flowing along the feather's main vein.

Moreover, this liquid, reflecting the lamp light, emitted a rainbow-colored glow.

When he pinched the feather with his fingernail, using about half his strength, it still didn't break.

He pulled hard with his hand, using nearly all his strength, before finally snapping the feather.

But it's fine; after a few hours or so, all that yellowish fur on Mao Mao's body fell off completely.

Lin Yifan stared in shock at the feather in his hand.

You should know that although he recently allocated all his attribute points to strength, giving him a full 20 points of strength, and he has already become a superhuman-level being,

the result was that merely pulling apart a single feather required him to exert his full strength.

But while he was shocked, he felt even more delighted!

Although he had initially just kept Mao Mao as a companion pet, never expecting it to do anything special,

yet in this survival world, fragile life is hard to survive; even with his protection, accidents can strike without warning.

Now that Mao Mao possesses such tough feathers, it has gained a bit of self-defense capability, which is naturally a good thing!

Moreover, Lin Yifan can see that although Mao Mao has undergone one molt, it is still likely a juvenile, as the feathers on its tail and wings are clearly not fully grown.

Originally only palm-sized, the Small Golden Eagle is now the size of a regular hen, its feathers red with gold, shimmering in the firelight with a dazzling splendid aura.

Lin Yifan actually has a guess: he previously obtained a drop of mysterious avian blood, which was absorbed by Mao Mao during its incubation.

Therefore, it is likely that this drop of blood is responsible for Mao Mao's current appearance.

Lin Yifan is also curious about how big Mao Mao will grow in the future.

Moreover, he wasn't sure if it was his imagination, but when he stroked Mao Mao's feathers, he always felt that although the feathers looked gorgeous and colorful, seeming fragile, they were actually not that fragile, but rather quite tough.

While he was lost in thought, Mao Mao impatiently let out two calls.

Lin Yifan lowered his gaze and saw Mao Mao staring intently at the 【Mythril Iron Pot】 where crocodile meat was being roasted, and he immediately laughed:

"You're hungry, huh? Don't rush, the meat isn't cooked yet—wait until it's done to eat."

Although Mao Mao could also eat raw meat, since there is a 【Mythril Iron Pot】 that can enhance attributes, it's naturally better to cook it.

Food with attributes benefits humans, and it might also benefit animals.

Li Ping'an's crocodile meat was roasted rather carelessly, but it wasn't burnt; once cooked, the crocodile meat showed attributes.

【Roughly Roasted Crocodile Meat (Made by Lin Yifan)】

Attribute: Stamina Recovery +2 (per 100g)

【Review: This is a piece of grilled meat made by a novice cook with no culinary skill whatsoever! If it weren't for the meat's inherent quality, this piece would be inedible; even if it's barely edible now, it's a waste of precious food!】

Lin Yifan looked at the review and instantly felt his mouth twitch with anger!

Since he learned basic cooking, every dish he makes receives a review, and the wording of those reviews is extremely vicious.

He doesn't even know who is giving these reviews!

Still, it's fortunate that although the review of the roasted meat is harsh, Mao Mao didn't dislike it; after happily eating the whole piece, it actually flew straight out of the shelter!

Lin Yifan hurriedly ran to the door and shouted anxiously:

However, in the Survival Realm, fragile life is hard to survive; even with his protection, accidents always come suddenly.

Now Mao Mao has such tough feathers all over, which also counts as a bit of self-defense ability, naturally it can be considered a good thing!

Moreover, Lin Yifan can see that although Mao Mao has undergone one molt, it should still be a juvenile body, because the feathers on its tail and wings are clearly not fully grown.

As for why Mao Mao turned out like this?

Lin Yifan also had some guesses in his mind; he had previously obtained a drop of mysterious bird's blood, and when hatching Mao Mao, that drop was absorbed by it.

Therefore, the reason Mao Mao has become like this is likely due to that drop of blood.

Lin Yifan is also curious now about how far Mao Mao will grow in the future.

"Chirp chirp!"

While he was lost in thought, Mao Mao eagerly chirped twice.

Lin Yifan lowered his head and saw Mao Mao staring intently at the 【Mithril Cast Iron Pot】 where the grilled crocodile meat was being roasted, and he immediately laughed:

"You're hungry, right? Don't rush, the meat isn't cooked yet! Eat it when it's done."

Although Mao Mao can also eat raw food, having the 【Mithril Cast Iron Pot】 that can increase attributes makes it naturally better to process it a bit.

Food with attributes is beneficial to humans, and it might also be beneficial to animals.

Li Pingan's crocodile meat was roasted rather casually, but it wasn't burnt; after it was cooked, one could see that the crocodile meat had acquired attributes.

【Rough Grilled Crocodile Meat (Made by Lin Yifan)】

Attribute: Physical Stamina recovery +2 (per 100 grams)

【Review: This is a piece of grilled meat made by a novice chef with no cooking skills whatsoever! If the meat itself weren't of high quality, this grilled meat would be inedible; even though it can barely be eaten now, it's a waste of precious resources!】

Lin Yifan looked at the review, and his mouth twitched in anger!

Since he learned Beginner Cooking, every food he makes gets a review, and the review's words are extremely vicious.

Who knows who is doing the reviewing!

However, it's alright; although the review of the grilled meat is unpleasant, Mao Mao didn't mind it, and after happily eating the whole piece of grilled meat, it actually flew straight outside the Shelter!

Lin Yifan hurriedly chased to the doorway and shouted anxiously:

"Mao Mao, it's dangerous outside, hurry back!"

"Chirp chirp!"

Unfortunately, aside from sending back two cheerful chirps, Mao Mao flew away and disappeared.

Lin Yifan felt somewhat helpless; there were still 20 minutes until dawn. Although he still had the Pure Spirit Flower and Radiant Stone on him, leaving the shelter now wouldn't be a big problem.

But Mao Mao had already flown away and disappeared; he couldn't catch up. Worried that it wouldn't be able to find its way back, he had no choice but to return to the shelter and wait.
