Chapter 16: Killing Through?

~7 min read 1,310 words

A peripheral Green Skin junk city in the desert Core Area.

A chaotic "city" built of assorted scrap steel, wood, iron sheets, and even bones.

Green Skin excrement is everywhere on the ground, fused with sand, from which clusters of Green Skin fungi sprout.

A few head‑but‑leg Shiguge hop around these fungi, then a muffled footfall arrives; the Shiguge, as if spotting its master's dog, leaps over joyfully.

Then a massive iron foot kicks the Shiguge into the air.

The other Shiguge, seeing this, become even more excited, chase their companion away, then in the distance tear the unlucky one apart, clutch it in their mouths and jump back excitedly.

But their master is no longer there; he has entered the dense Green Skin Frenzy.

"Here, enough Waaagh!"

"Here, the Green Skin have endless fights!"

The towering LupiLaoda, whose Green Skin youngsters already dwarf mortals, makes the youngsters seem like children before a strong man in his presence.

Raising his exaggerated steel‑claw prosthetic, entirely rebuilt from scrap steel and called "Steel Claw", the Green Skin boss lets out his voice, prompting a frenzy of cheers from the countless Green Skin youngsters below.

But as the cheers just began, Steel Claw raises his hand again to halt them.

Staring at the endless Green Skin youngsters below and the peripheral swarm of roaring motorcycles and junk warcars, Steel Claw, under the countless frenzied gazes of the Green Skin, breathes even more heavily:

"That human also Waaagh, but…"

"Not my Waaagh!!!"

A suddenly amplified roar erupts violently from his exaggerated gaping mouth.

Below, the Green Skin, previously forced to suppress their excitement, are released by that sound, and the Green Skin Frenzy across the hills erupts into a frenzied Waaagh.

Accompanied by a massive Waaagh that shakes the sand grains, Steel Claw, his body seething with anger, descends from the platform.

He forcefully pushes aside the blocking youngster; his steel‑clad body, like a giant iron titan, shoves through the Luchao.

"That human is nearby; let's show him who Waaaghs the most here!"

Steel Claw orders, and the already poised Green Skin Frenzy erupts with an even more frenzied battle cry.

The dense mass of Green Skin, mixed with countless motorcycles and warcars, rushes out of the junk city.

Countless massive feet trample the desert; their war‑fueled frenzy makes them crowd each other, even fighting for a forward position.

Above, numerous single‑person helicopters, cobbled together entirely from scrap with almost no protection, surge forward in frenzy.

Finally, this agitation and frenzy converge, piercing the sky and charging toward the desert edge.

And in the distance, Xisi stands!

At this moment, in the direction of the Green Skin's frenzied charge, a flat desert rises, smoke billowing from the ground, and scattered Green Skin youngsters flee in terror in all directions.

Where the youngsters fled, hundreds of thousands of Green Skin corpses, along with countless destroyed motorcycles and warcars, cover the entire ground.

Scattered human soldiers walk among the corpses, gripping their Rifles, their bodies trembling from exhaustion.

Breathing shallowly, a pair of almost unfocused eyes search the corpses for any comrades still alive.

Not far away, the wreckage of Limanlus, accompanied by thick flames, erupts in a violent explosion beneath the mound of Green Skin corpses piled around.

The surviving soldier instinctively looks up; atop another mound of corpses in the firelight, a human silhouette still stands.

Staring at that silhouette, the soldier's unfocused eyes finally focus a bit.

Lacking the strength to cheer, the soldiers nevertheless straighten slightly, casting reverent gazes toward Xisi and the Green Skin corpse mountain at his feet.

Black smoke drifts across the ground.

Xisi's chest becomes a bellows, forcefully inhaling and exhaling acrid air; each rise and fall brings searing heat to his lungs.

He looks toward the distance; the battle has just ended, yet amid the smoke, a deeper Green Skin war cry seems to echo faintly from the desert's depths.

Feeling the soldiers' gazes, Xisi dares not sit; he withdraws his eyes from the deeper desert and looks at the soldiers still moving beneath the corpse mountain.

Of the hundred thousand who entered the desert, half are gone.

And the soldiers who have held out so far each display a ferocity and ruthlessness that would even frighten the Green Skin.

In fact, the Green Skin corpses littering the entire land are proof of their combat power.

A motorcycle speeds rapidly from the battlefield's outskirts, and moments later, Bunoke, clad in a Black Uniform wrapped in bandages, grits his teeth and musters his last ounce of strength, arriving at Xisi's feet:

"Sir, another larger group of Green Skin is charging from the desert depths."

Gritting his teeth hard, Bunoke's facial muscles twitch faintly; after all, these Green Skin seem endless, and during the days they've entered the desert, one batch is slain only for another to arrive.

No matter how many are slain ahead, more will surge from behind.

Even as word spreads, the Green Skin learn that a particularly Waaagh‑like group of humans is here, prompting even more and stronger Green Skin to crazily rush in to fight.

Thus, they have attracted a whole junk city of their own, already claimed by the Green Skin boss Steel Claw.

Xisi lifts his eyelid toward the direction Bunoke points, then withdraws it, and with a light leap drops directly from the corpse mountain.

Seeing Xisi leap directly from the dozens‑meter corpse mountain, Bunoke's gaze at Xisi's eyes wavers.

For some reason, Bunoke feels his combat power has risen rapidly after killing Green Skin for so long.

But the Xisi opposite is even more exaggerated.

Moreover, with each Green Skin squad he crushes, it isn't long before Xisi becomes noticeably stronger.

Sss~

The saber pierces the desert; Xisi takes a deep breath, his breathing steadies considerably.

"We'll leave the desert soon; there should be no more Green Skin behind this group."

Bunoke still lowers his gaze, daring not to look directly at Xisi:

"Then what are we now......?"

Bunoke thinks about whether to rest.

Hearing that, Xisi glances around; though his face still bears the cold resolve of a commander, he sighs helplessly inwardly.

The soldiers' stamina has reached its limit; they truly need a rest.

Xisi merely glanced at the soldier, then at the sandstorm rising in the distance, and still didn't speak.

Because Xisi could see clearly, that was not a naturally formed sandstorm at all, but dust kicked up by too many Green Skins!

"Depart immediately; whether it's Alien Forms or supplies, they won't give us much time."

Bunoke's eye twitched; he looked at the still exhausted soldiers around him, facing Xisi who had already turned and taken the lead to continue advancing, and he mustered his courage:

"My lord, at least let the soldiers spend five minutes eating..."

Bunoke, after speaking, felt somewhat fearful, but Xisi did not turn back; only a calm voice came from his back:

"Compressed starch can be eaten while walking."

Bunoke: "......"

On the battlefield, the surviving soldiers quickly gathered, surrounding the last few supply trucks, and continued rushing toward where the main force was.

Deep in the sand sea, the sandstorm formed by the Green Skins was slowly approaching, and in the distant land, the towering Nest City that pierced the cloud sea also slowly revealed its silhouette.

But at this moment, in Nest City, pairs of eyes were drawn to the oncoming steel pincers; yet when they looked at the steel pincers, soon all gazes were drawn away by a figure that should not and could not appear.

At this moment, the Nest City Command Center was deathly silent; the displays filling the entire hall were aimed from all angles at a single direction.

Because in that direction, a human legion was slowly marching out of the sand sea.

Horror rang out in the silence:

"They......"

"They've cut through???"
