Chapter 46: Possession of the Corpse Emperor?

~7 min read 1,277 words

Revenge Soul Bridge.

When Abadon was drawn to the ground by Kaerjia's duel, command of this Radiant Queen‑class battleship temporarily passed into the hands of the Chaos Astat First Company Captain serving under Abadon.

Clad in Terminator Power Armor so heavy it borders on crushing, the helmet's sides each sprout a sharp, snarling tusk, like two steel ivory tusks.

At this moment, the company captain of a humanoid steel monster seems to stand on the bridge, watching the dense Jump‑Squad warnings projected before him.

Around him, crew members run back and forth, while more Chaos Astat and armed cultists surge forward in endless waves, pouring from the massive Revenge Soul toward these isolated Imperial Jump‑Squads.

Seeing the red dots rush in, both about to be annihilated as fast as they arrive, the company captain, with the Terminator helmet's two huge "ivories," is merely cold.

"Imperial cur, die here; you won't even make it back to the Corpse Emperor's side."

The captain scans the enemies launching suicidal attacks, but as his gaze sweeps over the massive Revenge Soul, a red dot moving away from the bridge suddenly catches his attention.

"How is there still one… a reverse attack?"

The captain is momentarily stunned; he doesn't speak of retreat or defeat, because all the Jump‑Squads have reached the Chaos flagship, so whichever direction they go counts as an attack.

Facing other Imperial troops recklessly charging the bridge, this reverse‑moving unit, the captain, after a long pause, can only label it a "reverse attack."

But then, watching from the Jump‑Squad point to the current position, other Imperial Jump‑Squads vanish in an instant, yet this red dot manages to traverse such a long distance within the Revenge Soul.

The captain's face turns to fury:

"Why haven't this bunch of Imperial curs been eliminated yet?!"

He angrily questions the nearby Astat deputy officer; the deputy, equally bewildered, rushes to the front line, then pauses, with the front‑line clamor audible through his communicator; the deputy frowns and repeats in broken bursts:

"What? What does Corpse Emperor possession mean?"

"What do you Astat call, being chased by a bunch of mortals to be hacked???"

"Not a group? Just one?"

Perhaps the battle on the other side of the communicator is so noisy that his repeated words come out unusually loud.

As he repeats these words, not only the captain but even the professional Chaos crew below, who would not react to anything, suddenly looks up.

Bang!

A blast bomb shatters the first crew member who looked up into mush, accompanied by spreading blood; the remaining crew hurriedly bury themselves again.

After killing the crew member, the captain's mechanical visor behind the two massive "ivories" stares fixedly at the deputy.

The clamor in the communicator is cut off by another wailing scream; the friendly marker in the projection that blocked the red dot also disappears completely.

Under the captain's dead‑silent stare, the deputy can't help but dry‑throat, raising his head stiffly.

After a long pause, the deputy grits his teeth:

"The new blocking force… is already on the way…"

The captain suddenly raises his hand, and the powerful Terminator Power Armor lifts the deputy straight up.

Amid the deputy's terror, the captain's enraged voice finally reverberates across the bridge.

"Do I care about the new blocking force?!"

"Do I care what happened up front! How utterly incompetent our people are!!!"

The deputy's helmet is even deformed by the captain's furious force; amid the terrified gasps behind the helmet, the deputy cannot speak, only transmits all relevant data.

Soon, information about the unit called "Black Watch" arrives, along with chaotic scenes of heavily armed crew and even Astat on the brink of death.

Looking at this information, the captain finally releases his grip on the deputy's hand.

But the deputy, upon landing, does not straighten or feel relief; his whole body collapses weakly, and from the heavily deformed helmet gushes a flood of black blood.

The deputy's death horrifies the crew below even more, yet the captain at this moment cannot care less; he simply stares blankly at the dark‑silver figure in the footage, and at the hundreds of mortal rapid‑fire shots behind it that, in less than a second, all precisely hit their own Astat.

Watching these exaggerated mortals, the captain even suddenly recalls the team's mockery of a group called the Black Skull Little War Squad.

Now he doesn't know why, but suddenly feels that the Black Skull he mocked might not actually be incompetent…

Temporarily commanding the Revenge Soul for Abadon, the captain is certainly stronger than Black Skull.

After a fleeting thought, the captain almost instantly pulls his attention back from the projection:

"Do not send Astat against this reverse‑attack enemy; just use mortals to wear them down."

"Also, send all this information to the War General!"

The captain's order is carried out immediately; the Astat units prepared to block at the front line are recalled, and an encrypted message is delivered into Abadon's hand, who is below pressing down on Kaerjia's hammer.

The massive snarling Horace's Claw is about to seize another arm of Kaerjia; Kaerjia, with no escape, prepares to accept his fate, but the claw suddenly halts, and Abadon, who has been displaying the formidable combat power of the Four Gods Selection, momentarily pauses.

Kaerjia, seeing this, quickly retreats to re‑establish distance, and any thought of counter‑attacking is instantly abandoned in the face of such terrifying power disparity.

Yet as Kaerjia steps back, a pair of slightly puzzled eyes glance toward Abadon.

Besides Abadon's odd pause, he even couldn't help whispering two lines just now:

"Black Watch?"

"Corpse Emperor possession?"

Abadon is stunned by this news, and Kaerjia, hearing it from the other side, is equally stunned, even somewhat shocked.

The mistaken Xisi's Black Watch being known even to Abadon shocks Xisi, who can't believe they're still alive!

And…

Even though heavily wounded, Kaerjia can't help but furrow his brow in confusion: what does "Corpse…" mean?

No! What does Divine Emperor possession mean???

Below, a large and a small giant, fighting to the death, both suddenly freeze in place under this minor incident, observed by all sides.

Moreover, both display their faces outwardly, simultaneously showing surprise, confusion, and even a hint of… shock!

While Abadon and Kaerjia halt, within the Revenge Soul, a multitude of Jump‑Squad ships suddenly burst out from one side, firing toward a nearby Imperial Sword‑class escort ship shrouded in rolling smoke, which has survived thus far through agile persistence.

The captain looks at Xisi's ultimate goal—snatching a Jump‑Squad ship with people and leaping onto an Imperial warship—and after a brief shock, finally comprehends.

The captain gapes, unable to accept; after all, how could such a formidable unit commit such a shameless act?

Stunned, he points at the projection, his words even trembling:

"How did they... jump back again?!"

No one nearby dared to answer the company commander, and on the Sword-class Escort Ship that had been boarded by a swarm of Chaos‑jumping vessels, the crew inside, their faces full of despair, stared at Xisi and Black Watch emerging from within, their faces equally shocked.

With eyes widened, putting down the flashlight in his hand, a deputy tried to ask the same question as the company commander.

But as soon as he opened his mouth, the attack, which had been nearing its end, was completely shattered by a sudden, blinding flash of light!

Xisi, startled, turned back, and a massive explosion that tore straight through Subspace instantly appeared amid the densely packed battling fleet.

And the terrifying rift created by the blast, bearing a fierce suction, wildly dragged every surrounding ship toward the raging Subspace waves!
