Chapter 8: He Snatches the Goods and Leaves

~8 min read 1,458 words

The Rebel Forces won't give us much time; after the meal we change gear immediately, then let the veterans take turns sleeping and resting.

Take all the supplies we can; if we really can't carry them, leave them in the warehouse as bait, and when the Rebel Forces get in, detonate all the ammunition.

Inside the Supply Station, Xisi, with Bunoke, Ana, and a dozen or so sergeants, crouched beside a map.

The others kept nodding at Xisi's orders; after a while, Xisi suddenly looked up at Bunoke:

"What about the new recruits? How many have we conscripted?"

Bunoke replied decisively:

"We've conscripted over four thousand, and with the veterans that's exactly a full Infantry Regiment."

"That many?"

Xisi was startled, because the Supply Station didn't have that many civilians at all.

Bunoke explained:

"The nearby Rebel Forces were repelled by us, so many survivors came to seek refuge."

Upon hearing that, Xisi glanced at the new recruits changing gear in the distance; they were both male and female, but without exception all were robust.

After all, as workers in Nest City, anyone with slightly poorer physical condition wouldn't have survived to now.

Nodding, Xisi refocused his attention:

"Alright, feed the new recruits fully, and start training them immediately."

Speaking, Xisi reached out, bowed his head, and looked at the watch on his wrist still ticking:

"From now until departure there are exactly twelve Terra Times left; during this period the most outstanding veterans must be assigned to train them."

Half a day at a Hundredfold rate still amounts to a full fifty days of maximum load.

Although it won't turn these recruits into elite troops, it will at least give them a solid step toward becoming soldiers.

A few sergeants quickly nodded and rose at once to begin arranging.

Xisi then glanced at the map, looking at the long road from his current Chaodu Jiaoluo all the way to the top of Nest City, and stood up solemnly.

Those beside him quickly stood as well, while Xisi looked at his own soldiers.

Possessing a legion‑scale Supply Station that can support tens of thousands, even the new recruits received a full set of Plastic Steel Chest Armor, helmets, Laser Rifles and Shrapnel Grenades.

Add the intact uniforms, and even now heading to any station they have a bit of presence.

But seeing they just began training, their faces still showing unshaken panic, Xisi really couldn't expect to lead them all alive through this breakout route.

Xisi's gaze could only rest on the veterans who had survived to now.

And with terrifying combat experience added, the veterans' gear would be even more lethal.

Now they have shed the look of the former KongnueKuangZhanshi, everyone wears the Three-sided Bulletproof Helmet sourced from the Cardian Assault Army, equipped with the latest respirators and goggles, fully covering the head.

This not only effectively protects the head, but also prevents poison gas and glare.

At the same time the bodies are switched to military‑grade cold‑weather suits; externally they not only have Plastic Steel Chest Armor, but also added shoulder pads, gauntlets, and knee guards.

Their handheld weapons are also replaced with brand‑new Laser Rifles.

And the rifle is just standard issue; now the veterans' gear belts are packed to the brim.

Magazine clips and Shrapnel Grenades hang all over their bodies, and on the waists of a few outstanding veterans there are even several precious Molten Hand Grenades.

These veterans no longer wield the same unchanged Laser Rifles; instead they carry Flamethrowers or Grenade Launchers.

Combined with sidearms, swords, daggers and other close‑range weapons at their waists, the veterans, aside from lacking a few high‑tech backpacks, are now an undoubted, top‑tier mortal elite comparable to the Cardian Assault Army.

And having come from an unknown Planetary Defense Force that didn't even count as consumables to the present, Xisi has only led them through three battles.

Looking at these veterans, Xisi finally gave a slight nod, then his gaze returned to the unmistakable treads roaring in the distance; the breakout is only one step away.

"Select fifty of the most elite veterans; I will lead them to seize the tank."

【9】 Xisi stared toward the tank's direction, Bunoke nodded in agreement; in this god‑damned galaxy, there is no notion of adult prestige that should keep one from taking risks.

Xisi looked toward the war chariot, Bunoke nodded in agreement, in this fucking galaxy there is no such thing as a respectable adult status; it's not the notion that one should avoid danger.

Especially under Kiriman's example, from the Imperial Regent down to the Warband Commander, the favorite pastime is leading with a sword to cut people.

Oh no, cutting Heretics.

Soon, fifty fully armed veterans gathered.

Among them there is not only one Grenade Launcher, but also two Flamethrowers.

After the team assembled, Xisi said nothing extra, merely loaded full magazines into the sidearms, sat at the exit, and waited silently for the moment.

At this moment, in the distant corridor of the Supply Station.

A Chimera Walking Tank was parked in the center, surrounded by densely packed Rebel Forces providing cover, and numerous fire points of all sizes.

The mutinous crew members sat on the tank, eating fresh roast meat delivered by lower‑rank Rebel Forces below.

Behind the tank, a group of terrified Rebel officers knelt on the ground, facing a man with a polished long sword and a bifurcated horned forehead.

"Around a thousand people not only blocked tens of thousands, but afterwards kept cutting with swords all the way from the entrance to the Supply Station..."

"Listen, how am I supposed to believe this? How can the Lord believe it?"

The Horned Man's expression turned serious, and when mentioning the Lord he even performed a strangely devout grand gesture.

And the Rebel officers kneeling on the ground below, upon hearing this, crawled even lower, their bodies trembling more violently.

After speaking, the Horned Man did not continue the punishment; he simply glanced at the Walking Tank he had brought forward and the tiny Supply Station surrounded by his own sea of troops, his gaze lightly flickering.

"Your lies will be exposed by me personally."

"When I have eliminated all the obstructing blockers, the Lord will himself adjudicate your punishment."

The Horned Man said this, originally intending to see even more terror on the officers beneath his feet.

But who knew that after he finished speaking, the officers below not only weren't more frightened, but instead exchanged a cautious glance and breathed a sigh of relief!

This scene left the Horned Man stunned:

"Why does it feel... they're afraid we won't fight?"

A doubt lingered in his heart; although he already had an explanation, even now he was unwilling to admit it.

That is, what these officers under him said actually turned out to be true!

Because only they were telling the truth, my attack would not only not pressure them, but would completely exonerate them of their false charges.

The Horned Man's face grew somewhat gloomy; he gave a vicious glance over the kneeling officers, lifted his eyes again, and looked toward the distant, solitary Supply Station.

He glanced at the time, but had no mind to wait for the appointed moment; the Horned Man directly raised his hand, signaling the attack.

The Walking Tank immediately started its engine, and, following the previous procedure, began to soothe the Machine Soul.

Just as the engine sound seemed like a signal, as it spread through Nest City, the distant Supply Station that ought to have been waiting to die was instead accompanied by a roar, and its blocked doors were blown open again.

Then, under the wide-eyed stare of the Rebel Forces, dozens of the Star Realm Army charged forward under a hail of bullets.

There's really nothing much to say about the process; in the Horned Man's understanding, it was simply a group rushing out, cutting through their own sea of people, jumping onto their own tank, slapping the original crew so hard they were left stunned, then jumping in and driving the tank back in a swaggering manner.

Until the tank started up, the surrounding Rebel Forces' fire points couldn't react in time to decide whether to fire; everyone silently looked over, waiting for a signal, but the Horned Man stood dazed for a moment, then suddenly his eyes cleared, and he turned to do something else.

He picked up the Communicator, faced the microphone, and the Horned Man wore a solemn expression:

"Yes, dozens of people, they cut through our crowd."

"Yes, then they seized the tank and, as a side note, blew up several fire positions."

"Well... not killing them back, sir, to be precise..."

"It's crushing them back."
