Chapter 269: You Will Kill Me

Lin Nan returned from the premiere of *The Great Robbery* and heard about Gordon Chan angrily rebuking the Hong Kong circle in front of the Hong Kong media.

This old man in the Hong Kong circle has quite sharp words!

"The signing of CEPA has allowed mainland co-productions to hang the life of the Hong Kong film industry for nearly ten years, but many people don't recognize the situation. For so many years, they have been high and mighty, eating and smashing the bowl and scolding the cook."

"Nowadays, the mainland is not short of funds, actors, or the market. Do they still need Hong Kong filmmakers and co-productions?"

"I think it's completely unnecessary. Everyone knows the story of the farmer and the snake! Some people just want to bring the Hong Kong film industry into the abyss, making it hated by people and dogs!"

After saying this, Gordon Chan returned to the mainland that day and began to prepare for *The Four 2*, leaving only the Hong Kong circle in an uproar of public opinion.

Many people in the mainland can see that the Hong Kong side has started infighting. This situation is very good!

Lin Nan admires Gordon Chan's actions very much.

This person is a filmmaker who has truly considered the Hong Kong circle, but these words of hating iron for not becoming steel are likely to be playing the piano to a cow.

"International Film Forum, Film Enterprise Forum, Director Forum, Producer Forum..."

Yue Jun handed invitations to Lin Nan, and both of them were a bit dumbfounded.

It seems that they want to take out all the facade representatives of the domestic film industry at the Beijing International Film Festival.

Not to mention state-owned enterprises like China Film and Shanghai Film, private film companies like Huayi, Enlight, Lin Nan Film Industry, and Bona are all invited, and it gives people a feeling that they cannot be refused.

In addition, directors who can be taken out such as Chen Kaige, Zhang Yimou, Lin Nan, and Jiang Wen, don't even think about running away.

"I pushed away the opening ceremony red carpet, and these forums came again. Really!"

Lin Nan sighed, speechless.

"The major film companies in Hollywood will all arrive, Warner, Fox, Universal, Disney, Lionsgate...

There are also many great directors, such as James Cameron, etc., and major international film festivals will also have people coming.

On the domestic side, we must pay attention to it, otherwise it will be too shameful."

Yue Jun also teased with a smile.

"I think it's puffing up one's face to look fat, wasting time, and meaningless. They are just aiming at the domestic market, no other purpose."

"Even so, Lin Dao must give an answer. The Film Bureau and the city personally sent invitations, so we can't just perfunctorily handle it?

Besides, you are a frequent visitor to international film festivals anyway. If you don't go, it's a bit difficult to explain."

Lin Nan frowned and thought. He promised Liu Yifei two days ago that he would go to the film festival with her to watch movies.

Unlike in Venice and Cannes before, this time it's at his own doorstep, which is much more convenient.

As a result, this kind of thing popped up again!

"Those enterprise forums, producer forums, etc., you represent the company to go. For the remaining few, I will go for a walk."

In the end, Lin Nan pushed most of the activities to Yue Jun, and for the few that couldn't be avoided, he went himself.

*The Great Robbery* and *Pi Fu* were released on the same day.

The investment amounts of these two films are not large, one is 50 million, and the other is 30 million.

But they are both focused on by the entire film circle.

Just because the release time of the two films is really too ideal, completely surviving in the cracks between a group of Hollywood strong ships and cannons.

"Ning Hao is still Ning Hao, after all, he is already a famous director."

Lin Nan saw the first-day results of *The Great Robbery* and was also a bit emotional.

The script of *The Great Robbery* was made by Ning Hao in a hurry. At that time, his mentality was collapsed by *No Man's Land*, and he urgently needed to divert his attention, which led to *The Great Robbery*.

*The Great Robbery*, with its flaws not obscuring its virtues, had a first-day box office of over 10 million, which shocked the circle and the media.

"Director Ning Hao's *The Great Robbery*, in the cracks of a group of Hollywood blockbusters, had a first-day box office of 10.48 million, injecting a stimulant into the difficult domestic films!"

"The film *Pi Fu*, invested in and starred by Huang Xiaoming, had a box office failure on its first day, with 1.21 million..."

"Box office data statistics as of today in April, imported blockbusters such as *Titanic* and *Battleship* account for more than 94%, and domestic films are less than 6%..."

Everyone in the industry is mocking themselves. No wonder the foreign filmmakers were so polite at this year's Beijing International Film Festival.

If the domestic film market is like this every month, those foreign filmmakers would definitely wish to come once a month!

"According to this first-day box office, Brother Xiaoming's film will lose miserably."

Liu Yifei was wearing slippers, crossing her legs on the sofa, saying with some regret.

"For him, losing money doesn't affect anything. The harvest is not small either. He can learn from experience and go further next time."

At the premiere, Lin Nan knew that Huang Xiaoming was prepared to lose money. From the moment he invested in the film, he had this preparation.

"By the way, tomorrow morning, you have to go to the film festival to watch the movie alone, or call Changchang to accompany you."

"Why? You're lying to me again, right? You promised to go together!"

Liu Yifei frowned, staring at Lin Nan, with an angry expression on her face, very cute.

"I have to attend the Director Forum tomorrow morning. It's not far from the screening hall. I can accompany you in the afternoon."

Hearing that it was serious business, Miss Liu was relieved, "Fine, I'll go alone, and we'll eat together at noon."

In the evening, Channel 6 was broadcasting the red carpet show.

Many people in the circle found that although this second Beijing International Film Festival did not have an award segment, the red carpet was no less than the top three in Europe.

In addition to a large number of domestic actors and stars, it is the most eye-catching Hollywood camp.

Production company teams represented by the six major film companies, digital directors led by Cameron, and more than a dozen Hollywood crews represented by *The Avengers*.

In addition, there are senior officials of international film festival organizing committees such as the top three European film festivals, Busan Film Festival, and Tokyo Film Festival.

Lin Nan and Liu Yifei watched the live broadcast together, and they discovered an interesting thing.

Even the director team from Taiwan came, but on the Hong Kong side, there were only a few people like Tsui Hark, Gordon Chan, and Ann Hui, and others were not seen.

I don't know if the above didn't call them, or if they were called but didn't come. But Lin Nan estimated that they shouldn't have been called, with the meaning of beating.

The next morning, Lin Nan and Liu Yifei separated at the film festival site.

"I won't watch *The Avengers* in the morning, I'll wait for you in the afternoon."

"Good, have fun."

Under the gaze of many insiders, Lin Nan and Liu Yifei walked in two directions.

Ning Hao, with a pair of dark circles, waved at Lin Nan.

"*The Great Robbery* has only been released for two days, they won't even let you go?"

"That's right, I don't have the heart to attend any Director Forum. The box office can worry me to death.

I refused, but guess what, they called me in the middle of the night... After finishing in the morning, I have to go back to make up for sleep."

The two were talking, and were led by the staff to the conference hall.

"Bad luck."

Turning the corner, I saw Lu Chuan holding Qin Lan's hand, socializing with a group of people there.

Lin Nan and Ning Hao spat out two words in unison.

Entering the conference hall, everyone found that the host of today's Director Forum was actually Chen Kaige.

Sure enough, in the eyes of the official, this one is the most presentable!

"Director Zhang, Xu Dao, Director Jia, Director Gu, Director Wang..."

Greeting all the way, all are familiar domestic directors. Lin Nan and Ning Hao sat down next to Tsui Hark.

As for those foreign directors, Lin Nan knows few, the only one he greeted might be Rob Minkoff.

The forum started, the theme is actually film technology?

This clearly puts Cameron in the main seat!

Sure enough, I saw Chen Kaige give the chairman's seat to the "Cameron driver," and he stepped down himself, without a hint of his usual arrogance.

Tsui Hark listened the most seriously, and occasionally asked questions.

Young directors, including Lin Nan, were listening carefully. After all, in this regard, others have gone very far, and 3D films will be the mainstream in the future.

When the media asked Cameron what he thought Chinese films lacked, even this one smiled awkwardly:

"Everything is very good, except for the lack of some cutting-edge technology, the biggest limitation may be that the filming of some special subjects is restricted."

This kind of words, said by a foreigner, made all the domestic directors present feel a bit embarrassed.

"Just like *Ghost Rider*, the Chinese market allows imports to be screened, but will not allow its own directors to film..."

As soon as this sentence came out, Lin Nan felt ashamed.

"If he weren't a foreigner, these words would definitely be verbally educated by the leaders!"

Ning Hao complained in a low voice. Not only Lin Nan, but Tsui Hark, Zhang Yimou, and others on the side also smiled helplessly. This is a fact. Film review is so unfair. Others can film and bring them to the country for screening, but our own people can't.

A forum, Lin Nan can see it, it is purely held for Cameron. This treatment is beyond the standard.

"Lin Dao, are there any 3D film plans later?"

Tsui Hark saw Lin Nan listening carefully and couldn't help but ask.

"Yes."

"That's a good thing. Afterwards, we can communicate. What subject?"

"Science fiction, mythology, magic. It definitely won't be related to Xu Dao's martial arts." Lin Nan said with a smile.

Everyone on the side heard Lin Nan's words and nodded one by one, "Wait and see."

By noon, the Director Forum ended.

Rows of reporters at the door pointed their cameras at the directors coming out. Cameron and others were welcomed away by the organizer, presumably for hospitality.

"How about eating a meal together first, and then I'll go back?"

Ning Hao looked at Lin Nan and asked.

"Then I'll call Yifei, together."

"Good."

Lin Nan just took out his mobile phone when he heard someone greeting him from afar, still in English.

"Hi, Lin, long time no see."

He felt he had heard this voice somewhere.

Lin Nan raised his head abruptly, it was really an acquaintance. Ning Hao on the side, and some other insiders were also a bit surprised.

Lin Nan smiled and greeted the wife of a friend, ah no, it's the ex-wife!

"Indeed long time no see. Welcome to the film festival, Scarlett."

Looking at Scarlett Johansson walking over, and a few Hollywood actors, Lin Nan replied.

The few times he dealt with this person, it was almost because of Ryan Reynolds. The first time was their wedding, and the rest were at Hollywood parties Lin Nan attended.

Lin Nan wanted to shake hands, but the other party gave a solid hug.

Hmm, the vast bosom is shocking.

"You will kill me."

Lin Nan muttered, and media reporters on the side were already taking pictures. I don't know if it was captured just now. Ning Hao also had a surprised expression.

"What?"

Scarlett didn't understand Lin Nan's Mandarin.

"Nothing, welcome again to the Beijing International Film Festival, *The Avengers* is great!"

"Thank you, Lin. You are a great director..."
