Chapter 451

The next day, in the country.

While the news about Lin Nan and the Oscars showed no signs of cooling down, Yao Dazui also rapidly shot to the headlines.

A reputation as the "Flower of Evil" was imposed upon her by the entire internet, defining her character.

At the same time, industry insiders exposed a series of her past scandals: multiple affairs during her marriage, falsely accusing her ex-husband...

One incident after another accumulated, like a powder keg meeting fire, and it exploded instantly.

Faced with the public outcry and the insults of countless netizens, the Huayi team truly had no way to wash this clean this time, nor did they have the time.

The entertainment industry knows that this is simply the result of Yao Dazui walking by the river too often; she brought it upon herself, and there is no saving her. A first-tier actress, finished!

On the other side, media reporters were still camping out at the airport for Lin Nan and Liu Yifei.

But after waiting and waiting, they only waited for Liu Yifei's Weibo post:

A selfie of her holding the little golden man and the certificate, as unprofessional as ever, but also as youthful and beautiful as ever.

The text Liu Yifei accompanied it with, slightly carrying a trace of smugness and showing off, was a portrayal of her mood:

"Interstellar needs re-recording for the dubbing, we won't be able to return for a while.

Look, let everyone see my trophy and certificate, they are golden and shiny, so pretty, hehe..."

Those in the circle who like to join in the fun and show support all popped up at once.

"Congratulations to Producer Liu for winning the Oscar little golden man. Eh? Why is it the Screenplay Award? Haha..."

"Lin Dao, there is a thief in the house!"

"Liu Yifei: Although you will get the trophy and honor first, they ultimately belong to me!"

"Lin Dao is like a wage earner, while Yifei is the boss..."

Lin Nan received the messages forwarded by Wang Changtian, Ye Ning, and others.

Although the upper echelons of the circle all knew that Han Sanping had retired since last September.

But it wasn't until today that the relevant departments and Zhongying officially issued the red-headed document, announcing this matter to the outside world.

To summarize simply: "La Peikang succeeds Han Sanping as the new Chairman of Zhongying."

As the news spread, the heat and topic volume of The Taking of Tiger Mountain suddenly made a comeback, rising sharply by a large margin.

This was just a small matter, after all, many people knew about it, but another matter was truly a big deal.

The direct superior of the film industry, the Director of the Film Bureau, had changed.

However, this was not bad news, because Director Tong was still Director Tong.

He was promoted from Director of the Film Bureau to Deputy Director of the General Administration, and it was a position with real power!

For Lin Nan and others, wasn't this a good thing?

After finishing the email message, Lin Nan was in a very good mood.

He chuckled and nodded: "Rest for two days, and we can start Manchester by the Sea."

This film, like The Hunt and The Invisible Guest, belongs to the category of award-chasing films.

It has no special effects, no grand scenes, only bits and pieces of emotion that go deep into the heart, and sadness that is suppressed to the extreme and cannot be vented.

Regarding this, the filming time in Lin Nan's plan is still one month; one month is enough.

After all, the director, actors, and production team are all professional and top-tier.

In the huge villa, it felt empty.

Liu Yifei went to Warner for re-recording the dubbing, leaving only Lin Nan at home, and he was too lazy to go to Crystal Pictures.

In the afternoon, a transoceanic call from the country came through.

As soon as Lu Yang opened his mouth, it was about Brotherhood of Blades 2.

"Lin Dao, I am going to start casting."

"Then choose." Lin Nan nodded immediately.

The person on the other end of the phone hesitated and laughed: "That, Lin Dao. This budget is slightly higher compared to the last one."

"How much?"

"Around ninety million."

Hearing this number, Lin Nan couldn't help but complain:

"I thought it was how high.

In the past few years, salaries have doubled, and costs have increased quite a bit. Your number is already very conservative, go for it!"

"Alright, with your words, I can let go and do it. If it goes over budget, you can't have any objections."

"Haha, rest assured, I won't." Lin Nan could hear the meaning in Lu Yang's words.

When filming Brotherhood of Blades 1, the production budget went over.

So much so that Liu Yifei, who was a producer for the first time, was so busy that her mentality almost collapsed.

After finishing the casting matter for Brotherhood of Blades 2, there was another ten minutes of idle chat.

Lin Nan had just hung up the phone for a few minutes, and good heavens, another one came, this time it was Yue Jun.

He didn't need to think to know it must be about work.

"I am suddenly hesitating whether to fly back for a few days to finish work and then return to Hollywood?"

"Hahaha, Lin Dao, that's not necessary. You can handle it by phone remotely."

Hearing Yue Jun's hearty laughter, Lin Nan knew it must be that the copyright matter was settled.

"Done?"

"Yes, the copyright is obtained, the finance department just paid the fee this morning. In addition, they gave a little after-sales service.

They will send a team to assist during our pre-production, and if we need help later, we will have to pay extra fees."

Lin Nan was amused, these Koreans are quite good at doing business!

"Extra fees, they shouldn't even think about it. After I go back, I will prepare for the variety show matter.

However, Enlighten's team is also very experienced, we can ask them to participate in the production, and take our own people along the way."

"Okay, then I will keep it a secret for now.

Lin Dao, there is one more thing, the scheduling matter for The Invisible Guest has run into some problems."

Lin Nan paused and asked: "What problem?"

"Because this is an imported film after all, and it's our own left hand passing to the right hand. So Chairman La said we can't be too biased, lest people gossip below..."

Lin Nan understood the meaning, which was to let him avoid suspicion and not go to join the fun in the hot slots.

When the moon is full, it wanes; he can't have all the good things to himself.

"What is Zhongying's suggestion?"

"May 16th."

"Hmm? This slot is indeed average."

Lin Nan said subconsciously, but Yue Jun chuckled, "The slot is average, but the date is not."

"How so?"

"Director Zhang Yimou's Coming Home is also on this day. Chairman La wants two big directors to bring along this cold slot."

At this moment, Lin Nan understood instantly. It can only be said that he is worthy of being a big leader, he thinks so much.

"Okay, mid-May it is then.

At least it won two major awards at the Oscars, the promotion is definitely in place. For other matters, keep a close eye on them."

"Hmm, no problem."

Lin Nan calculated the time, the script review for Journey of Flower should be soon too, there are quite a few things in the company this year!

Tom, according to Lin Nan's instructions, has already started connecting with the union.

Once the casting for Manchester by the Sea begins, I imagine actors here in Hollywood will also respond in droves, even more than in the past.

A 15-hour time difference will always cause some news or information to lag.

When Lin Nan and Liu Yifei were still in their dreams, the domestic film and television circle welcomed another series of "bombings".

The interview with Lin Nan by Channel 6 at the Oscars, mixed in the headlines of a crowd of film and television information, appeared on major news websites.

"Lin Dao Nan's The Invisible Guest and Director Zhang Yimou's Coming Home are scheduled for May 16th on the same day, two generations of big directors will fight head-on."

"Movie Channel exclusive interview, exclusive information: Lin Dao Nan's new film has been approved, it is the foreign language film Manchester by the Sea."

"According to Lin Dao Nan: the foreign language film Manchester by the Sea will be exclusively produced by Crystal Pictures, written and directed by Lin Dao Nan, casting is about to begin, and it will start filming soon."

"Produced by Lin Nan Pictures, directed by Director Lu Yang, the film Brotherhood of Blades 2: The Battlefield of Shura has started casting for some roles, the list of main actors will be announced together after the casting ends."

Actors and artists in the film and television circle and entertainment industry were all stunned.

Lin Nan Pictures really doesn't make news unless it's big news.

Calculate it, Lin Dao Nan has been in the industry for so many years, this is the first time competing in the same slot with another big director!

Lin Nan vs Zhang Yimou, The Invisible Guest head-on pk Coming Home, Leonardo, Jessica Chastain and Gong Li, Chen Daoming!

This lineup, just thinking about it is exciting!

Fans and audiences on the internet are even more excited.

In the eyes of the film circle, it was clearly an ordinary slot that was neither here nor there, but now it has a trend of being hot.

Two big directors competing head-on in the same slot is indeed eye-catching.

But at this moment, a large number of actors and film and television brokerage companies are more concerned about the casting of Brotherhood of Blades 2.

Everyone knows that the core leads have already been decided, and they were not decided through casting.

Even many people secretly assumed that Yang Mi had already been internally decided as the female lead.

And among the roles released, only that female supporting role is the most eye-catching.

This attracted the attention of many actresses and agents, and the goal became clear.

The top companies in the production industry and some top actors only care about one thing, and that is Lin Nan's new film: Manchester by the Sea.

The production company's idea is very simple, Lin Nan is the boss of Crystal Pictures, so for the new film, can everyone spend money to buy a ticket?

And the first-tier actors, especially the big stars, their ideas are very simple.

They just want to know when Lin Nan's new film will specifically cast, and if they have a chance?

Because this is highly likely to be another award-chasing film, as for where to chase awards, it must be the three major European film festivals or Hollywood!

This kind of temptation, no domestic actor can resist.

Since they can't wait for the casting news from Hollywood for a while, they can take the initiative to attack.

Most people don't dare to contact Lin Nan directly, but they can tactfully go to Liu Yifei to inquire.

When the girl Liu, who slept until she woke up naturally, saw so many unread messages and missed calls, how could she not guess what it was about with her clear head at this moment.

She simply lay on the bed and flipped through the messages, and as a result, she laughed like a flower in a few minutes.

"This Brother Xun, really! What does it mean to help her blow a pillow talk? I won't... hehe..."
