Chapter 547

Sitting in the study, Lin Nan opened his computer and sure enough, he saw the email in his inbox, from the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In addition to a very formal email inviting him to become a member of the Academy, there was also a form that needed to be filled out and supplemented.

The information to be entered was mainly personal information and mailing address, because the Oscar "ballots" need to be mailed to the judges themselves.

After filling in the films and creative personnel he supports, he then mails the "ballot" back to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Of course, he could also bring it to the scene and submit it in person, which would complete the Oscar voting.

"Hmm, let's write Lin Nan Film Industry for the address.

Speaking of which, mailing me the nomination and final selection ballots at once, and I have to mail or bring them separately with a month's interval? This is a bit troublesome!"

Lin Nan muttered with a smile. Then he shook his head and began to reply to the email.

At the same time, more and more actors, artists, and practitioners in the circle noticed this news and tagged Lin Nan and Liu Yifei one after another.

"Congratulations to Lin Dao! I'm so happy; now I'll have company every year when I go to Hollywood to attend the Oscar awards ceremony."

"Yifei, your Lin Dao is not authentic; there wasn't even a whisper about competing for the Golden Globe Awards! Next time you open a foreign language film, let him bring me along!"

"Sister Xun, restrain yourself, there are so many people here. Haha..."

"Hey, really, stealing the limelight from my film! Everyone help me promote it more, 'Breakup Buddies' broke 100 million on the first day!"

……

"Doesn't this mean beheading the Golden Globes, riding the Oscars, and grazing in Hollywood? Lin Dao, I'm optimistic about you!"

"Damn, I admire Huang Bo for this flattery!"

"It's a pity, it wasn't approved above. Otherwise, I would have tried the weight of the Oscar Best Foreign Language Film award this year, brother, just in time for you to vote and canvass for me!"

"Congratulations to Lin Dao..."

"Congratulations to Lin Dao."

"Xixi, there are quite a few red carpets early next year!"

……

Spending nearly an hour, until just after ten in the morning, Lin Nan finally finished the email and sent it out.

The reason it took a lot of time was mainly because he also wrote a thank-you letter with carefully chosen words.

This is a matter of etiquette; he can't lose face for Chinese filmmakers!

Going next door, Liu Yifei was holding a tablet, her face full of smiles, chatting with someone, but it must be about Lin Nan.

"Come and sit next to me, they are all 'arranging' you."

Miss Liu stretched out her hand, patted the seat beside her, and said to Lin Nan with a giggle.

"Hmm, let me see, what are they saying about me?"

"Saying you have completely abandoned domestic film festivals and taken root in Hollywood, and the old men of the Golden Rooster are gnashing their teeth... haha..."

"I won't take these black pots."

Lin Nan squeezed next to Liu Yifei, his head resting on her shoulder, looking at those comments and messages on the screen.

A faint fragrance came from between her neck, cheeks, and hair, lingering at the tip of his nose, very comfortable. Miss Liu's collarbone was right in front of him, and further down were the small hills inside the short-sleeved neckline...

"Hey, don't look around."

Rolling her eyes at Lin Nan without pain or itch, Liu Yifei leaned over; was she calling him to be a back pillow?

"My ticket has already been booked, on the morning of the 4th."

"Good, I'll drive you to the airport that day."

"Hmm."

The two leaned against each other like this, and an abrupt atmosphere of parting and reluctance appeared, very magical, maybe because they had just gotten engaged.

Phone calls always come in at inappropriate times, and they can't be ignored, because it's very likely to be serious business.

"Hello?"

"Lin Dao, 'Lost in Hong Kong' will start filming in Shanghai in two days..."

Listening to the phone, Lin Nan nodded from time to time and responded.

Xu Zheng's intention was very obvious, he wanted to invite him to attend the opening ceremony.

Lin Nan hesitated, "I won't go, Chairman Wang can go. Yifei is going on a business trip these two days, I'll just help her pack."

"Uh, that's fine. I wish Yifei a smooth business trip, and by the way, I wish Lin Dao success in winning the Golden Globe, and congratulations on becoming an Oscar judge."

"Thanks."

After hanging up the phone, Lin Nan curled his lips, a bit emotional; Xu Zheng is truly a smart person.

Lin Nan also learned something a few days ago.

Xu Zheng used "Lost in Hong Kong" to connect all the human capital he could reach; he replaced a confirmed actor and invited Zhao Liying to play a supporting role with few scenes but great importance. Zhao Liying, isn't that capital!

"Are you not going to the opening ceremony to accompany me these two days?"

Looking up, Liu Yifei smiled brightly.

"Tsk, consider yourself smart, okay." Lin Nan complained, revealing a smile.

"Hmm, hehe..."

…………

Influenced by the "Ban," the promotional activities for the two films "The Dead End" in the New Year slot and "Monster Hunt" in the Spring Festival slot clearly showed a trend of dying down.

Although the producers hadn't issued any announcements or notifications yet, everyone in the industry could guess that the producers and distributors must be struggling, hesitating, and feeling the pain right now!

Think about it, a lot of promotional expenses and resources have been thrown out, but now they have to face this situation; who can be reconciled? No one is reconciled!

The day ended, and time crossed September, officially entering the National Day long holiday.

The film market has been completely driven by "Breakup Buddies."

"Directed by Director Ning Hao, produced by Lin Dao Nan, the road-trip comedy film 'Breakup Buddies' was released for the second day, and the box office won another 122 million, leaving everyone else in the dust!"

"As Lin Dao Nan said, 'Breakup Buddies' is expected to help Director Ning Hao achieve a leap and be promoted to the 1-billion box office club director!"

"'The Golden Era', 'Black & White: The Dawn of Justice', 'Quacker 3' and 6 other films were released today, competing for the National Day slot."

"Produced by Tang Ren, starring Liu Shishi, Peng Yuyan, and Hu Ge, the costume TV series 'Sound of the Desert', adapted from 'Ballad of the Desert', will be grandly broadcast on Mango TV tonight."

"The 51st Golden Horse Awards announced the nomination list today, with many mainland films shortlisted, and Gong Li's 'Coming Home' is as expected..."

……

"Regarding Lin Dao Nan being invited to be an Oscar judge, many industry seniors and senior filmmakers of the association have expressed different views."

"Stating: Lin Nan, who already possesses excellent achievements and great fame, should not have avoided the responsibilities and obligations that a major director in the Chinese film circle should bear for many years.

He should not blindly alienate domestic important film awards activities, only knowing about foreign film festivals, 'worshipping foreign things,' and deliberately belittling and ignoring important Chinese film activities and grand events such as the Golden Rooster, Hundred Flowers, and Huabiao...

Lin Nan should play a good leading role in the industry and cannot forget his roots..."

……

It's really entering the National Day holiday, and the entertainment circle is also "celebrating the festival"!

A piece of news about old men and women "naming" Lin Nan ignited the entire film and television circle.

Is this considered eye drops? No one in the circle dared to make a sound! Because what others said was very righteous!

Lin Nan only found out about this after returning from the pet hospital with Liu Yifei and receiving many calls and messages.

He sat in the yard and was so angry he laughed; these people are really shameless!

"This is a rake-back, standing on the moral high ground to kidnap me? Those who don't know might think I was the villain from the beginning?

I'm just going to be an Oscar judge, there are thousands of people, although there are few Asians, but this stimulates them?"

Lin Nan spread his hands, looking at Liu Yifei sitting cross-legged on the lawn, with a few kittens and puppies circling around.

"Oh wow, did they really guess right? Gnashing their teeth?

But it's understandable, look at which big director in the country is like you, not having any dealings with the Golden Rooster for so many years? Hehe..."

Miss Liu tilted her head and smiled playfully, then grabbed the fat orange cat beside her and hugged it into her arms.

"Still have to reply a few words, can't say nothing, letting these 'seniors' who have half their bodies in the soil get an inch and want a mile."

Lin Nan muttered, taking the tablet from the blanket.

"To be honest, over these years, I seem to have done quite a few things. Refreshing box office records time and time again, the first to shoot sci-fi blockbusters, the first to shoot fantasy blockbusters, the first to shoot mainstream commercial blockbusters... I haven't failed to fulfill the responsibilities and obligations that a Chinese major director should fulfill as some relevant people said?

In addition, I didn't belittle the Hundred Flowers; I once went to receive an award; I didn't ignore the Huabiao; I will go to the next session; I have also been to the Golden Horse several times. As for the Golden Rooster, there are too many masters, it's that I'm not worthy!

Isn't it good for us to be safe and sound and not bother each other? Why come to find trouble with me? Can't just because you are old, you can 'preach' to others at will? Even my teacher didn't say that to me!

Also, I recommend everyone to watch my Golden Lion film 'The Hunt' more, don't stand in the sun and talk to others all day, you can't even see your faces clearly, the sun is too dazzling!"

A few minutes later, Lin Nan's Weibo was updated, and the picture was taken on the spot, it was the Wang Wang team beside him!

When Lin Nan and Liu Yifei were sitting on their lawn, basking in the sun, the circle began to get lively.

"Lin Dao's Weibo didn't have a single dirty word, but every word was a counter-retort, every sentence was a slap in the face. He has done more than 99% of the people in the association!"

"This last sentence is awesome, don't stand in the sun... the sun is too dazzling! In other words: don't rely on your age to sell your age, don't stand on the moral high ground!"

"Learned it, I'm going to review 'The Hunt'! In the future, when I retort to those who morally kidnap me, I'll use this sentence from Lin Dao!"

……

"I told you not to provoke him, you didn't listen, right? For so many years, when has that kid ever softened? It made the relationship between Tian Zhuangzhuang and us stiff for so long!"

"Just wanted to knock him a bit... The key is how to do the Golden Rooster Film Festival next year? 'The Taking of Tiger Mountain' is very difficult to handle now, this is a task..."

"Can't do it like this even if it's difficult? Messed it up, right? Knocked out a problem, right? And was humiliated without dirty words!"

"In the final analysis, the little bastard has a rebellious bone, no rules... when the qualifications are reached, and the hair is smoothed, naturally give him the award..."

"Is it useful to say this? He eats soft and not hard, how to deal with this mess later? 'The Taking of Tiger Mountain' was named from above..."

……

There were many people in the circle watching the fun, and everyone didn't expect that Lin Nan had already withdrawn from the association for 5 years, and could still be found trouble with by that side, resulting in a "conflict."

It can only be said that these old people and people in charge who are used to being held high are really not stopping, and they don't recognize the situation!

…………

The first day of the National Day slot ended, although the screening rate was cut by 10 points, to 36%.

But "Breakup Buddies" still beat all other films, including the six newly released films.

On the third day of release, the daily box office made another strong 110 million, and the box office trend continued to advance, making people envious.

The industry still remembers what Ning Hao said when he led the team to promote it; in this film, Lin Nan's investment share is as high as 50%.

This also means that Lin Nan Film Industry will have another fat year this year, and there are not many peers who are jealous; there are too many!

On the morning of the 2nd, two films that received much attention from the industry both had movements.

"Co-produced by Zhen Le Dao, Enlight, and Lin Nan Film Industry, directed by Xu Zheng, the third part of the 'Lost' series, 'Lost in Hong Kong', officially started filming in Shanghai!"

"Director Xu Zheng bluntly said that although it is a pity that the original cast could not be gathered, he believes that Bao Bei'er will definitely not disappoint the audience."

"Enlight Film Industry actor Bao Bei'er is full of confidence, saying that he is from a professional class and is not inferior to Wang Baoqiang..."

……

"Co-produced by Starry Night, China Film Group, Shanghai Film Group, and Lin Nan Film Industry, directed by Zhou Xingchi, starring Deng Chao, Lin Yun, Zhang Yuqi, and others, the sci-fi romance blockbuster 'The Mermaid' grandly started filming in Pengcheng this morning."

"Kept secret for a long time, 'The Mermaid' male lead Deng Chao made his first appearance, self-deprecating: 'Star Man's joy, finally don't have to hold it in anymore!'"

"At the opening press conference, Zhang Yuqi avoided talking about Wang Quanan the whole time..."

……

On the side of "The Mermaid," it was Han Jia who called Lin Nan. Like what he said to Xu Zheng before, he also refused to attend.

During the two days before Liu Yifei left, Lin Nan stayed at home, staying at home with Miss Liu.

On this trip, she will first go to Hollywood to meet up with the crew.

And the accompanying personnel are three assistants and two bodyguards. After all, the itinerary is not short, so they have to be well-prepared.

If there is any need on the way, Crystal Film Industry will also support at any time.

……

Facts have proved that after a drama has been deleted, greatly modified, and re-dubbed more than a dozen times, it will really be rotten to the extreme, and Tang Ren proved this point.

Cai Yinong is really perfunctory to the audience; the reputation of "Sound of the Desert" is simply unbearable to look at, and there is a chorus of scolding online.

Four episodes into the broadcast, this drama has already become the most failed TV series of Tang Ren for so many years, and it is a rotten drama that dragged the first brother and "first sister" in at the same time!

Reluctance to spend money to re-shoot is like this; the plot is cut so that it is completely incoherent, jumping so that it can't be watched; and whether it is lighting or photography, it is rough to death, completely incomparable to Tang Ren of that year.

The mouth shape shouts the names of historical figures such as "Huo Qubing," but the dubbing is another title; one can imagine how awkward it is!

A "Sound of the Desert" can be considered to have shown Tang Ren's current situation and drawbacks nakedly to the film and television circle!

Thinking back to those years, a Zhou Yi, a Tang Ren, were both top companies in the TV series field, but what about now?

Although the former is gone, it has been integrated into Lin Nan Film Industry in its entirety.

The production team only shot TV series before, but now they are both movies and TV, shooting both. Isn't this a blessing in disguise?

Tang Ren, on the other hand, although it has reached now, it has long been riddled with holes and has become a second- or third-rate film and television company.

To be more absolute, they are more like an agency, relying entirely on Hu Ge and Liu Shishi to support it!

On the morning of the 3rd, a flight from Hollywood landed at Capital Airport.

The two giants, Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures, with a team of twenty people, attracted the attention of a large number of media reporters.

And the China Film Group team responsible for picking up the plane made the media's lenses unable to stop.

"With this battle, is there any big move?"

"Found it, the two foreigners leading the team are global business executives of Legendary and Universal, one of the vice presidents!"

"Damn! In that case, does China Film Group have a cooperation project with them?"

"I'm only curious now, what kind of project can make so many people from two big Hollywood factories come over?"

A group of reporters were chattering and analyzing, and the cameras in their hands didn't stop shooting for a moment.

They knew very well in their hearts that this would likely be big news in the film and entertainment circle today and even in the next ten days and a half months!

……

China Film Group.

La Peikang sat in the office, looking at the caller ID on his phone with a playful expression.

After the secretary walked in and saw that La Peikang had no intention of answering the phone, he reported:

"Chairman La, the people from Legendary and Universal have already gone to the hotel where they are staying. Our people also told them that you have time to meet tomorrow morning, and they can come to China Film Group."

"Hmm, I know, then arrange it for tomorrow morning.

Hehe, still calling, the news is quite well-informed, right?"

La Peikang waved his hand, the secretary understood instantly, turned and walked out, and closed the door.

"Hello, what kind of thing can make Chairman Ren call me three or four times in a row? I didn't answer, and you kept calling, haha..."

The phone was on speaker, but the other side paused, very quiet.

Two seconds later, Ren Zhonglun's voice sounded, echoing in the large office.

"Chairman La, can China Film Group handle such a big project?"

"What project, why don't I know? What is Chairman Ren talking about?"

La Peikang teased lightly. He knew that Ren Zhonglun already knew, but he still played dumb.

"In terms of power, Shanghai Film Group can't compare to China Film Group, but in terms of news channels, Shanghai Film Group doesn't lose to China Film Group. How long does Chairman La want to hide the co-production project with Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures?"

"Oh, this matter. I didn't think about hiding it, didn't Chairman Ren know? You called, wouldn't it be for this matter? Hehe..."

Although La Peikang said it with a smile, the indifference in his tone was not hidden at all.

"Chairman La, make a condition, how can Shanghai Film Group enter the game and get a share of the pie?"

Ren Zhonglun's words sounded like a joke to La Peikang, ridiculous to the extreme.

"Chairman Ren, what are you thinking? Does Shanghai Film Group have anything worth me thinking about? It seems, not really, right?

You are very rich, this is a big killer for Xi'an Film Group, Ningxia Film Group, etc. But for China Film Group, it's just like that; neither of our two families is short of money, what do you say?"

These words left Ren Zhonglun unable to refute.

Looking at the domestic film and television industry, Shanghai Film Group has always been unfavorable, but in front of China Film Group, it is always inferior.

Because money cannot compare to power, and what both families want most is political performance, and there is a natural competitive conflict!

And in "political performance projects," China Film Group is far ahead of Shanghai Film Group.

Before calling this time, Ren Zhonglun had made a great determination, and even prepared for a big bleeding, but he didn't expect La Peikang to be so impenetrable.

"Shanghai Film Group can pay a 50% premium to purchase investment shares."

"Chairman Ren, my meaning is very clear, money is the least valuable thing, haha..."

La Peikang said resolutely, his laughter didn't stop.

In his view, giving Lin Nan a share is reasonable, after all, he has to count on Lin Nan to shoot movies.

But give it to Shanghai Film Group? Why? Does China Film Group lack that little money? Joke!

…………

The film and television circle is already in an uproar, all about the gossip of China Film Group picking up the Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures team at the airport.

Insiders are guessing that there might be some film project to talk about.

Lin Nan didn't pay much attention to these, he was answering Wu Ershan's call right now.

After nearly three months of filming, "Mojin: The Lost Legend," with an investment of 200 million, finally reached the finishing stage.

Just this morning, the crew officially opened for media visits. It is estimated that there will be news online in the afternoon.

"If it's about the same, let the people from Tiangong Color come back first, and the wrap-up banquet will be held in the capital. By the way, about which day do you estimate you can wrap up?"

"Lin Dao, I estimate that it can wrap up around the 10th, and all the special effects shots have been filmed."

"Some minor details and shots that don't pass, just finish shooting them. The Tiangong Color team can pack up this afternoon and set off back to Beijing tomorrow."

Hearing this, Lin Nan nodded subconsciously:

"That's good, with the blessing of this film's IP, your resume achievements will take a big step forward. Hmm, that's it, I'll hang up first..."

Without waiting for Wu Ershan to react, Lin Nan had already ended the call, because Liu Yifei was calling him to go next door for lunch.

"Mojin: The Lost Legend" crew.

Looking at the hung-up phone in his hand, Wu Ershan was a bit helpless.

He originally wanted to probe Lin Nan's tone; if he prepares to shoot the series he has in mind in the future, can he find Lin Nan Film Industry to pull investment?

"Am I thinking a bit too far? There's not even a shadow yet, hehe..."

……

At the dinner table, Liu Xiaoli picked up dishes for Liu Yifei and Lin Nan respectively.

"If you two have time, go see him before the wedding next year. Don't wait until the wedding, you can only meet in a hurry... Even if he comes back, he can't stay too long."

Lin Nan and Liu Yifei looked at each other, and both knew who Liu Xiaoli was talking about.

"This time the promotional itinerary for 'Interstellar' includes Paris, I will go see Dad." Miss Liu looked at her mother and said softly.

Lin Nan also pondered in his heart and had an idea:

"When Xixi and I attend the Berlin International Film Festival, we can take time to go to Paris together; the distance between the two cities is actually not far, and it happens to be on the eve of the Lunar New Year."

Hearing Lin Nan's words, a smile appeared on Liu Xiaoli's face, "Good, good. Then at that time, you two go together."
