Chapter 65: Husband and Wife Duo, Double the Pain!

~7 min read 1,223 words

In the Changle River.

A shadow crept along the shore, using the moonlit shadows of the embankment as cover, silently closing in on An Sheng, ready to launch a lethal bite and death roll.

But due to an accident, the predator lurking in the river revealed its presence.

The wild boar sprinted and leapt from the ground, landing in the river to swim to the opposite shore and escape the fox.

But the boar’s leap was high, not far.

Its two-hundred-jin weight, combined with the force of its fall, smashed directly onto the shadowed edge of the riverbank.

And precisely onto the bow of the lone boat’s shadow.

The predator in the river, utterly focused on the fox’s silhouette, gave not a single moment’s slack—completely unaware of the leaping wild boar.

As the heavy weight crashed onto its head, the shadow lurking beneath the water startled, its tail snapping up above the surface.

“Huff-puff—”

After hitting the water, the wild boar clearly noticed the predator in the river, let out a shriek, and frantically scrambled up the riverbank slope.

“Splash—”

The crocodile in the river, enraged, exposed its upper body and snapped its jaws toward the boar’s fleeing direction in a death threat.

A seven-meter-long, armored crocodile lay atop the river’s surface, revealing only its small head and eyes, radiating intense hostility as it locked its gaze on the fox’s silhouette.

‘It wants to tear open my big butt!’

In that instant of eye contact, An Sheng read the hostility in the crocodile’s gaze.

No doubt—such intelligent eyes, and scales shimmering with metallic luster—this crocodile was surely one of the extraordinary beings the Lin patriarch called “spirit beasts,” just like the wild boar from Shou Gou Jian.

“Ying—”

An Sheng frowned, staring into the crocodile’s mouth and letting out a soft whimper.

Just as the fox and crocodile faced off, the terrified wild boar rolled and scrambled into the electric fence of Changping Pet Paradise.

The wild boar’s piercing scream echoed through the pet park under the moonlight, triggering a chorus of barking from the boarded-up animals within.

“Splash—”

In the blink of an eye, the crocodile in the river sensed the fox’s fleeting moment of distraction.

The nearly seven-meter crocodile shot up from the water, jaws wide open, surging through the air with a torrent of water, lunging to bite the tiny An Sheng.

“Bang!”

As the crocodile’s jaws snapped shut, a low, muffled clang of metal striking metal erupted.

But the fox had already withdrawn in time.

Yet the crocodile’s attack did not stop—once on land, it moved its long limbs with astonishing speed, lunging at the evading fox.

All electric fences and reinforced concrete barriers along its path were shattered without resistance.

On land, the crocodile moved like a camouflaged armored vehicle, shaking its head and tail, sweeping everything aside—the riverside viewing platform crumbled inch by inch under its tread.

Countless broken branches and splintered wood, whipped by the crocodile’s tail, crashed into the pet park amid clouds of dust.

“Roar—”

The crocodile let out a roar; every living thing in the pet park felt the overwhelming, tyrannical presence of a demon king descending.

“Ying.”

An Sheng landed gracefully, but a look of pain crossed the little fox’s face.

He had perfectly dodged the crocodile’s ambush, its chain of bites, and its steel-like tail sweep.

But the pet park’s facilities had suffered terribly.

Especially the broken concrete pillars—after the crocodile’s tail strike, they rolled and slid over a hundred meters, destroying every tent, facility, even a decorative food cart and the entire lawn.

Even the underground electrical wires and water pipes were exposed, sparking violently.

The entire pet park plunged into darkness.

“Ying-ying!”

The pain on the little fox’s face turned into furious rage, his two tails snapping upright in anger.

“You bastard! How dare you act so recklessly!”

The fox let out a furious whimper, rearing up and charging straight at the crocodile.

Compared to the crocodile’s massive form, the fox was no thicker than its finger—but its speed was blinding, a streak of white light under the moon, directly slamming into the crocodile as it retreated, preparing to launch another strike from the water.

“Roar—”

The crocodile opened its jaws wide, halted its retreat, and its eyes blazed with ferocious malice as it lunged forward without fear.

“Boom!”

In the instant of collision, the colossal crocodile was blasted backward by the terrifying force, flying upright and crashing into the embankment.

The crocodile slammed into the reinforced concrete embankment, shaking the night sky with a deafening crash.

“You vermin! How dare you force An into disgrace!”

After landing, the little fox did not relent—his fury still burning—he reared up, extended both paws, seized the crocodile’s tail, spun, and executed a perfect over-the-shoulder throw, slamming it hard into the ground.

“Boom!” Dust exploded as the nearly seven-meter crocodile sank into the artificial turf.

Yet in that very instant—

A swift whistling sound pierced the air—a metal arrow, propelled with tremendous force, flashed past the fox’s head.

“Fuli! Behind you!”

Chen Zhi’s shout followed, as several arrows shot down from the rooftop of the crescent-shaped building.

But after flying hundreds of meters, their force had been halved.

They could not affect the shadow in the river—a dragon-like form at least eight meters long.

Chen Zhi had seen that dragon-snake shadow before, reappearing on the river at night.

An Sheng, alerted by Chen Zhi, whirled around to meet a pair of eyes emerging from the water.

Those vertical pupils gleamed with absolute confidence and fierce hostility toward An Sheng’s intrusion into its territory.

The true ruler of the Changle River revealed its ink-black snout, its massive body slowly rising from the water, clad in pitch-black scales, three pale white bony ridges running along its back.

The black-and-white long-snouted crocodile differed from any common crocodile.

Though it had a long snout, it was far wider than any known long-snouted crocodile—not merely for catching fish.

Its head was the smallest, but its body grew increasingly massive toward the rear; its thick, two-toned tail was nearly as thick as the crocodile’s waist.

“Sss—”

The two-toned long-snouted crocodile, now on land, glared at An Sheng with hostility and hissed a warning.

“Shh-shh-shh—”

It paid no attention to Chen Zhi’s arrows, its gaze fixed solely on the white fox.

“You want me to back off?”

An Sheng reared up, his two large tails pressing backward to brace his body as he leaned back.

The little fox spread his arms in a hugging gesture, his paws sweeping across the ruined viewing platform littered with debris.

“Tell me—how am I supposed to back off?”

“The losses here today—over a million—either you two crocodiles pay, or my Qing sells her car and house to pay. Clearly, An will never drag Qing into disgrace!”

“One of us has to go live in a zoo dormitory!”

The enclosed viewing platform was destroyed; dozens of square meters of lawn were upturned, soil exposed.

Even the flood-control embankment was ruined.

That unlucky crocodile had devastating power.

It tore such a massive hole—no matter what else, someone has to pay for this, right?

Yu-jie is watching right behind me—how could An let these two crocodiles walk away?

Crocodiles have no rights, can’t speak—perfect for taking the blame!
