Wen Gu, a young man from a war-torn modern era who specializes in recovering cultural relics, finds himself transmigrated into a body of a sickly scholar in a different, ancient world. This world is gripped by a terrifying apocalypse where an 'Evil Plague' turns people into mindless monsters. Stranded in a remote village, Wen Gu must navigate a society on the brink of collapse.

Unlike the warriors and Daoist priests who rely on brute force or mysterious rituals to survive, Wen Gu uses his sharp intellect, knowledge of engineering, and pragmatic nature to secure his place. By drafting blueprints for defensive fortifications known as 'Wubao' and maintaining a low-profile, scholarly persona, he transforms from a burden into an indispensable asset. As he balances the schemes of local power players and the constant threat of the infected, Wen Gu must use his wits to survive the harsh reality of a world where knowledge is as vital as a sword.
