Chapter 141: Telling Your Parents? Are You Still in Kindergarten?
In the suburbs, at the crash site of Thor's hammer, a small scientific research outpost and defensive barracks had sprung up in just half a day.
"Hello, yeah, okay, I'll try to ask for him; the data might not be retrievable, but the equipment should still have a chance."
Blade stood on the observation tower, the voice on the phone belonging to Huanghun.
After sending Huanghun's family away from the United States, Huanghun had gifted all of his information networks and various hidden resources to Blade.
Having accepted these resources, Blade had moved away from the lone-wolf and small-team model; of course, there was a price to pay, which was that he also had to give up his solitary lifestyle.
Many hidden resources were derived from social favors and exchanges of interest; it was difficult to maintain them without changing his style of conduct, yet these resources truly encompassed every social stratum and were very helpful for finding high-level vampires.
After hanging up the phone, Blade had a bit of a headache; it was fortunate he hadn't been tricked by Nick Fury into joining S. H. I. E. L. D. Could this even be considered an official organization? They just started by forcibly seizing things.
If they were going to seize things, they should at least provide some compensation; having no compensation made them no different from bandits, even worse than bandits!
Soon, Blade found Coulson inside the temporary base. "Let me ask, did you really move every last bit of that person's hard work back here?"
Coulson was a bit surprised. "They found you?"
"The same way you found me; in this world, one cannot escape the web of human relationships," Blade explained.
Coulson hesitated after hearing this. Black Widow hadn't come out of the lab yet, and Hawkeye was halfway through his physical therapy on a hospital bed, which was why Nick Fury had asked Blade to help.
Logically speaking, since Blade hadn't taken any money, it was normal for him to make a small request, but the equipment did indeed contain too many things that ordinary people shouldn't know about.
"Seriously, taking the data is one thing, but why take all of their equipment? And did you pay them?" Blade continued.
Hearing this, Coulson breathed a sigh of relief. "No problem, the data reading is finished, the equipment can be returned to them, and besides, I will apply for compensation for them."
"Fine, do it as soon as possible," Blade replied. Before he had walked many steps, Blade looked up toward a direction under the night sky.
"What's wrong? Is there anything else you need me to do?" Coulson kept a relatively low profile; as someone with a relatively high moral standard among agents, he actually didn't like this kind of forced seizure either, but in this line of work, orders came first.
"Two unfamiliar auras are approaching, along with the faint sound of an engine." Blade felt something was off in his mind; he hadn't encountered the scent of one of these auras before. "Did you set up signs and security personnel on the road?"
"Manpower is severely lacking, so there are no security personnel, but signs and false information were released early on, and the vicinity has been marked as a temporary military zone on various electronic maps," Coulson answered quickly.
Blade continued to sense them, opening his eyes a moment later. "They aren't just passing by; they parked in the distance. I intend to go take a look. What is your opinion?"
"You are the chief security officer, I'll listen to you. Of course, it would be best if you could take me with you," Coulson replied.
"Then let's go." Blade took two steps forward, his bloodline switching silently, and the thick night color shrouded him and Coulson, erasing their figures.
Outside the temporary base, Jane and Thor were carefully approaching.
Thor had been thrown to Earth by Odin along with his hammer. He had run into Jane, who was chasing the Einstein-Rosen Bridge, just as he landed, and after some back and forth, the two could be considered familiar with each other.
"What was that Bifrost you mentioned in the car earlier?" Jane asked while walking.
"A tool that can send you to any location in the universe. Do you want to see it? Once I retrieve Mjolnir, I'll have a chance to show you," Thor answered in a low voice.
As the two were talking, they arrived at the perimeter of the wire fence and lay down.
"You stay here. Once I retrieve Mjolnir, I'll help you get your things back, okay?" Thor covered Jane with his coat; it was thundering in the sky, and it would soon rain and get cold.
"No! Do you really think you can take that thing and walk back out?!" Jane retorted.
"Not walk, fly out." Thor raised an eyebrow, full of confidence.
Just as Thor was about to move, another voice sounded from the side. "You two, excuse me for a moment."
Thor jumped in surprise, blocked in front of Jane, and clenched his fists, watching the night color shrouding Blade and Coulson slowly fade away.
"A Midgardian sorcerer?" Thor stared fixedly at Blade. Now, without his divine power or Mjolnir, he was just a stronger-than-average human, and it was almost impossible to protect Jane in front of a sorcerer.
"I am the son of Odin! You had better be careful!" In his anxiety, Thor could only bring up his father's name.
"I don't care who your father is; this isn't a kindergarten," Blade said, looking at Jane. "Erik has contacted me."
"Erik?! He really knows people..." Jane couldn't quite believe it.
Coulson stepped out at the right moment. "Ms. Foster, I am very sorry, but much of the data you collected is a national secret, so it cannot be returned to you. Of course, we will return the equipment as soon as possible, and the compensation is already being processed."
Jane certainly didn't want to only get the equipment back, but it wasn't a matter of continuing to hold on; if she kept bickering, there was no telling if she and Thor would be in danger. "Okay."
Jane stopped talking, but Thor became unhappy instead. "Listen! I don't care about any national secrets; you had better return everything you took to me exactly as it was, otherwise don't blame me for being impolite!"
Seeing Thor pushing his luck and getting right in his face, Blade reached out, gave a forceful flick, and with a *thwack*, threw him to the ground.
"Damn it! Midgardian, you have made a wrong choice!" Thor climbed up from the ground.
*Thwack*, Blade threw him down again. "Are you planning to tell your parents again? Coulson, is there any king named Odin on Earth?"
Coulson: "No."
"Then you are still an alien. Do you have an entry permit?" Blade looked at Thor on the ground and continued to ask.
Thor stood up again and raised his fist. "You just insulted a warrior!"
Jane hurriedly hugged Thor and kept apologizing to Blade. "Sorry, he's had a bit too much to drink; he didn't mean it."
"Don't worry about me, I'm going to beat this guy until he's missing teeth!" Thor shouted.
Blade rubbed his fingertips; it really hadn't felt like touching a simple human body just now. "Ma'am, since he wants to prove himself, let him come."
Hah!
Thor broke free from Jane's embrace and charged at Blade.
