Chapter 85: Supernatural Animal Alliance
On the afternoon of the first day of school, Johnson sat in the teachers' lounge, feeling a bit bored.
The profession of an elective teacher was leisurely, and while other teachers taught several grades and had their weekly schedules filled, Johnson only taught one grade. Once Monday morning passed, he could take the rest of the day off.
"Lupin, is your lesson plan ready? Do you need my help?" Johnson propped his head up and asked Lupin, who was beside him.
"It's ready. I found a Boggart," Lupin said, then remembered Johnson wasn't from this world. "It's a magical creature that changes into the illusion of what a person fears most. Besides being scary, it's basically harmless."
"Is that so!" Johnson became a bit curious. "Where did you put it?"
Lupin patted the trunk beside him. He had stuffed the Boggart into the trunk, mainly because there was nowhere else to put it for the time being; he couldn't just leave it in the teachers' lounge.
"Can I take a look?" Johnson asked.
"Of course." Lupin opened the trunk nonchalantly; it wasn't anything dangerous, and it didn't matter if a colleague was curious and wanted to take a look.
When the trunk was opened, Johnson only saw a black mist rise, then, like a frozen screen, it continued in a mosaic state for a few seconds before finally slowly turning into Johnson himself.
Lupin was a bit surprised. What kind of statement was it to be afraid of oneself?
Johnson, however, stared deeply at the Boggart. He knew the Boggart hadn't simply turned into his appearance, but had turned into what he was before becoming a follower of the Genie.
That ordinary and plain archaeologist who had painstakingly sought mystery but gained nothing at all.
"So this is what I'm afraid of? I didn't even know it myself." Johnson smiled bitterly, mobilizing the spirituality within his body and setting up a barrier around his consciousness.
The Boggart immediately became like a TV with a bad signal, showing static, and its form became unstable.
*Snap*, Lupin closed the trunk. This thing was quite hard to find; if Johnson had solved it now, he wouldn't know what to teach in class.
Just then, a commotion came from outside the window. Johnson and Lupin walked to the window, looking down curiously.
Madam Pomfrey in the infirmary was urgently treating Malfoy's injuries, surrounded by a circle of Malfoy's cronies.
Lupin glanced at the class schedule hanging on the wall and roughly guessed what had happened. "I told Hagrid that students shouldn't be exposed to highly dangerous magical creatures, but he still brought a group of Hippogriffs. Now there's a problem."
Hearing Lupin say this, Johnson roughly understood that Hagrid had probably had a teaching accident. "Lupin, what kind of punishment does the school usually give for this kind of thing?"
"Salary deduction, a formal reprimand, self-reflection—probably one of these three," Lupin listed them very familiarly. "As for the magical creature that hurt someone, it will probably have its activity area restricted. After all, it's nothing major, just an arm injury."
Johnson felt that this time it probably wouldn't be just that; his spirituality was warning him that what had happened this time was definitely not small.
Thinking of this, Johnson subconsciously took out his pocket watch and began to silently recite a divination in his heart.
"Will this incident affect me..."
The pocket watch turned clockwise.
"Will this incident endanger my life..."
The pocket watch turned counter-clockwise.
OK, divination over. Johnson indicated that if there was no life danger, it was nothing. Since stepping into the mysterious world, 99% of the things he encountered had been life-threatening; his threshold for a sense of crisis had been pulled very high.
At the same time, at the Care of Magical Creatures class site, other Hippogriffs surrounded Buckbeak, comforting him. Malfoy was simply unreliable; his actions had scared Buckbeak, otherwise, he wouldn't have launched a defensive attack.
Actually, Buckbeak's attack was just a warning; otherwise, the claws containing magic, combined with the Sharpness Art gained after the Hippogriff bloodline awakened, would have completely torn Malfoy apart in an instant, and Hagrid might not have even had time to stop it.
Buckbeak chirped twice nonchalantly, then tilted his head to look at Hagrid, his eyes filled with a hint of apology.
Hagrid had a very good relationship with this group of Hippogriffs. They were all preparing to migrate, but when Hagrid invited them, everyone gave him face and postponed the migration date.
"It's fine, at worst I'll just get a scolding," Hagrid said, patting Buckbeak's wing carelessly. "It's just that I might trouble you to stay and accompany me for a few more days. After things are over, I'll find a way to send you to a new habitat."
Buckbeak shook his head, then communicated with his companions, letting them head to the habitat first while he caught up later.
After the other Hippogriffs flew away, Hagrid sat beside Buckbeak and asked curiously, "Does that habitat really have many different kinds of magical creatures?"
"Of course, that's an area found by the Fire Dragon Queen, Audasxin. She plans to build a paradise far away from wizards there, and also establish a Supernatural Animal Alliance to accommodate all animals that have gained intelligence. You should come with us this time."
Buckbeak knelt on the ground and said to Hagrid. Staying behind, he actually intended to persuade Hagrid to leave Hogwarts quickly.
"Hmm..." Hagrid hesitated. He couldn't bear to leave this place. Personally, he wanted to finish teaching this year and put a period on his wizarding career before leaving.
"Don't think about it. Now even the Centaurs are preparing to leave gradually. Why are you still staying here?" Buckbeak continued to persuade.
"I'll think about it again..." Hagrid still hadn't made up his mind.
"If you don't go, what will happen if your fellow Giants are bullied? You are their destined leader." Buckbeak continued.
"Buckbeak, I've been a wizard for so many years before my bloodline awakened; there are many things I can't let go of. Let me think about it again," Hagrid sighed. His situation was probably the most complex among magical creatures.
"I think you'll figure it out. When that time comes, we will guard your sky, and you Giants will guard our land. We will be the best alliance!" Buckbeak imagined that day.
"That's for sure." Hagrid laughed. "By the way, tell me more about that Fire Dragon Queen."
"I've actually only seen her from afar once, when she came to invite the Tribal Chief. She is at least thirty meters long, and her dragon scales are especially beautiful. It is said that she was the first to awaken her bloodline, but she dislikes wizards because when she first awakened, some wizards wanted to steal her eggs." Buckbeak introduced while recalling.
"It is said that Audasxin has subdued almost all dragon groups. Now she calls herself the Fire Dragon Queen just because she doesn't want to manage too many things."
Hagrid listened and laughed awkwardly. He had even raised a fire dragon for a period of time before; he didn't know how that child was living now. ===== CHAPTER 86 =====
