Chapter 368: Take me

~9 min read 1,622 words

Our new home is in the New Development Zone, a high-end residential complex that carries significant weight in Hengyue City.

In the mid-nineties, Hengyue City followed the trend and established a High-Tech Development Zone, but with no high-tech enterprises moving in, the Municipal Committee and Municipal Government simply relocated all administrative organs there.

Our new home is right behind the new Municipal Government building, in a garden-style complex. The complex is filled with lush trees and flowing water. Rockeries, fountains, and exotic flowers and plants—everything one could want is here.

At the entrance to the complex stands a security guard in a crisp uniform, eyes fixed straight ahead, ignoring the people coming and going. Beside him, another guard checks the identification of those entering.

As our car entered the gate, the barrier lifted, and the guard gave a standard military salute.

"These security guards are all retired veterans," Huang Weiwei said, turning her head to introduce them to her parents sitting in the back row.

Minister Huang Shan smiled slightly and said, "Mm, not bad."

Like me, Minister Huang Shan was here for the first time. Minister Huang Shan was used to the ways of the world and remained calm regardless of favor or humiliation. I was different; this was the first time in my life I had seen such a high-end place. Moreover, this was my new home. Thinking of this, my palms began to sweat, and my mood naturally grew excited.

We got out of the car, entered the elevator, and went straight to the eighteenth floor.

This building has twenty-three floors in total; it is said that the developer's family lives on the top floor, which comes with a sky garden.

The building is very quiet, which seems a bit out of place for the Hengyue people, who are accustomed to liveliness.

Huang Weiwei took out her keys and waved them in the air. The keys gave off a crisp sound, making my heart jump wildly.

Opening the door, there is an entrance screen wall, a hollowed-out carved screen; one look at the material, and you know it wasn't cheap.

Turning past the screen, what catches the eye is the floor-to-ceiling window opposite, covered by thick purple curtains. In the middle of the room sits a set of high-end leather sofas, and opposite the sofa is a feature wall covered in cultural stone. Below the wall is a television of astonishing size.

Bureau Chief Chen Yazhi, arm-in-arm with Minister Huang Shan, smiled and asked, "Old Huang, are you satisfied?"

Minister Huang Shan looked around and nodded with a smile.

I followed behind them, stealing glances everywhere, not daring to make a sound.

Huang Weiwei was like a happy little bird, chirping and calling out to me.

I followed her into the bedroom, a room so large it left my mouth hanging open. The master bedroom is equipped with a bathroom, a wardrobe, a television, and surprisingly, a computer placed next to the vanity.

The style of the curtains in the bedroom is quite different from the living room; inside is a layer of white gauze, and outside are thick pink ones. A large bed is covered with a quilt patterned with white clouds and flowers. On the wall opposite the bed hangs an oil painting; one look and you know it's not some street-stall item.

"How is it? Satisfied?" Huang Weiwei asked me, looking smug. She threw herself onto the bed, bounced high, and giggled.

I nodded and praised, "Very good! It exceeds my imagination."

"This place contains my hard work, my aunt's contribution, and my mother's effort." She beckoned to me, "Come over and see if our bed is soft."

I reached out and pressed the mattress; a wave of comfort hit me immediately.

"Close the door," she ordered me.

"Your parents are still outside," I whispered in refusal.

"I told you to close it, so close it. This is our home; I can do whatever I want." Huang Weiwei smiled and shouted toward the door, "Mom, we have something to discuss, you two go ahead and do your own thing."

Bureau Chief Chen Yazhi, outside the door, responded, poked her head into the bedroom, and said, "Xiao Feng, Weiwei, I'm going to take your father downstairs to walk around the complex."

Seeing the two elders out, Minister Huang Shan stood by the door, patted my shoulder, and said meaningfully, "Xiao Chen, you're a lucky man."

I grinned. The old man before me was clearly a bit lonely; once a daughter has a lover, she will shift her love away from him.

Minister Huang Shan's words were not jealousy, but envy and blessing. They were also like a small whip, gently lashing at me.

As soon as the elevator door closed, Huang Weiwei couldn't wait to pull me into the room.

She wrapped herself around me like a snake.

The warm light in the room was incredibly ambiguous, the air conditioner hummed to life, and the hot air blowing on our bodies made it impossible to keep wearing thick winter clothes.

"Kiss me," she said, looking at me, her eyes unmoving.

In this scene, how could I not lean in?

"Chen Feng, do you love me?" she asked, getting straight to the point.

"Of course," I said with absolute certainty.

"I want to ask you something, and you aren't allowed to get angry," she said, staring into my eyes, speaking cautiously.

"I won't get angry."

"You promised not to get angry." She smiled, reached out to wrap her arms around my waist, and whispered, "Between Xue Bing and me, which one do you want?"

"What do you mean?" I was secretly shocked.

"You should understand what I mean, right?" Her expression was somewhat desolate, and she trembled nervously, "Tell me, don't all men have a sense of responsibility?"

"Of course. If a man has no sense of responsibility, he might as well be dead."

"And you?"

"I'm the same."

She sighed, let go of her hands around me, walked to the bedside, lay down, buried her head in the pillow, and said nothing.

"What's wrong?" I moved over to sit down and reached out to touch her shoulder.

She rejected my hand and asked in a muffled voice, "Chen Feng, if two women love you, do you feel especially happy?"

I laughed, "In this world, there are at least three women who love me."

"What?" Huang Weiwei sat up from the bed like a startled deer, staring at me nervously, "Tell me, which three?"

"My mother, my aunt, and you," I said, amused by her reaction.

"Your mother and aunt don't count."

"Then there's only you."

"Is there no one else besides me?"

"No one else."

"No, there is one more."

"Who?"

"Xue Bing."

"How is that possible! We stopped loving each other long ago," I said, feeling guilty. But inside, it felt like I had been cut by a knife. Xue Bing and I had never spoken of love, nor had we ever spoken of not loving.

But do I love her? I don't know. Does she love me? The answer is certain.

"Do you know what Xue Bing said to me?" Huang Weiwei's eyes welled with tears, looking pitiful.

"What did she say?"

"She wants me to give you back to her!"

A giant thunderclap seemed to explode over my head, and I was instantly at a loss.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" She hugged me from behind, pressed her head against my back, and didn't move.

"When did she say that?"

"Just today."

"She must have lost her mind!" I said dismissively, though inside, a storm was raging.

"Do you think she really came to pay me a New Year's visit and thank me today?" Huang Weiwei blew a breath of air by my ear, teasing me until I was restless and distracted: "She came to find me to ask for someone."

"Are you going to give him to her?" I asked teasingly, turning around to pull her to my chest, staring into her eyes with a wicked smile.

"No!" She laughed shyly, not daring to look at me, and buried her head in my arms.

"That's right, don't give him up," I said, lowering my head to find her lips and kissing her deeply.

She let out a soft sound, and before she could speak, my tongue had already slipped inside, tangling with her sweet little tongue in a flurry of kisses.

After kissing for a while, she broke free, stared straight at me, and said, "You said you were a responsible man."

"I am," I said, still wanting more.

"I don't care about the past. From now on, you must be."

"I was in the past, I am now, and I will be in the future." I pulled her into my arms again, looking at her brows and eyes, my mood blooming like a flower.

"Feng, take me," she murmured, her face as red as a cockscomb.

I was shocked. This flower-like woman—except for the final bottom line, I was as familiar with her as I was with the lines on my own palms.

In the past, she would always reject me at the final moment. But now, she was taking the initiative.

"We haven't held the ceremony yet," I said, testing the waters.

"We are already at home; is the ceremony more important than the home?"

"Are you willing?"

"I am willing."

"You won't regret it?"

"I won't regret it."

I gathered my courage and said in a trembling voice, "Wife, I'm coming."

"Come!"

She spread herself out like a delicate, beautiful flower, blooming one petal at a time on the bedsheet covered in white clouds and flowers. ===== CHAPTER 369 =====
