Chapter 385
"The boss is dead, and the safe has been opened—I'm in big trouble as his bodyguard. I can't stay here." The burly youth spoke without hesitation.
"I need that box. Without it, I can't report back." The fat man patted his belly, a hint of helplessness crossing his face.
"Sir, you've already taken the documents—may I leave now?" The brown-haired man replied cautiously.
"Of course you can leave. But plenty of people saw you bring me in here, and now you've taken money from the safe—are you sure you won't run into trouble once you step outside?"
"I don't care if you live or die, but first think about how you'll ensure you don't betray me if you're caught. Only when you're certain you can keep your mouth shut can you go." Wang Yu waved his hand toward the brown-haired man.
These words turned the brown-haired man's face pale; the bundle of cash suddenly felt unbearably heavy.
"I need to confirm what's inside this box before deciding whether to deal with your employer. Until then, don't show yourself to me again—or don't blame me for turning hostile." Wang Yu spoke coldly to the fat man.
"Alright, but at least give me a way to contact you. What if you decide to make a deal later?" The fat man hesitated, then glanced at the melted hole in the safe door and let out a bitter laugh.
"Give me a phone number you can always be reached at." Wang Yu thought for a moment, then said.
"Fine." The fat man hesitated briefly, then recited a mobile number.
Wang Yu nodded, memorizing the number silently.
"This number doesn't need to be answered—just dial it three times in a row, then send this number an address. I'll arrive immediately to meet you. I hope our next meeting comes soon. Then you may call me 'White Wolf.' For now, I'll take my leave." The fat man added two final warnings to Wang Yu, then removed his hat, bowed politely, replaced it, tapped his cane twice on the ground, and suddenly blurred out of existence before everyone's eyes.
Though the burly youth and brown-haired man had expected something strange, they still looked stunned.
Wang Yu's expression remained calm, but in his spiritual sense, the 'White Wolf' had silently walked toward the door, growing steadily farther away—clearly gone for good.
He turned to the burly youth and spoke slowly:
"I have a question for you, but this isn't the place to talk. Let's go somewhere safe first."
"Alright, but wait a moment—I need to gather my things. I can't come back here." The burly youth paused briefly, then nodded and hurried out of the room.
"Sir, he won't go call for help, will he?" The brown-haired man whispered to Wang Yu the moment the burly youth left, his tone ingratiating.
"If he really calls others, I might be fine—but he won't be able to explain himself. Why aren't you leaving yet?" Wang Yu glanced at the brown-haired man, his tone indifferent.
"Sir, the boss's backer is the Miao family. Since he's dead, I can't possibly stay in Xitie City."
"You want documents too—you must want to leave Xitie City as well. I'd like to leave with you. Let me serve you." The brown-haired man looked at Wang Yu, speaking carefully.
"Come with me? Why should I take you on?" Wang Yu said with a faint, knowing smile.
"You're a superhuman. You'll accomplish great things in the future. I have no other skills, but I can run errands for you and handle daily chores."
"I don't even need this money—just let me join you." The brown-haired man suddenly seemed cleverer—he gritted his teeth and offered the bundle, though the pain in his eyes was unmistakable.
Wang Yu's face showed a flicker of surprise. After studying the brown-haired man closely for a moment, he smiled slightly and asked:
"What's your name? Do you have any family left?"
"Sir, I'm Xin Di. I'm an orphan—grew up alone in Xicheng City. No burdens at all." The brown-haired man's spirits lifted immediately.
"Since the money's yours, keep it well."
"You're local—you should know how to get a clean car. Get a sturdy one. Meet me tonight at the entrance of Huanglong Entertainment City. I'm leaving Xitie City tonight." Wang Yu paused, then gave orders without hesitation.
"Yes, Boss! I'll find a car right away—I won't delay you!" Xin Di beamed, bowed to Wang Yu, then hurried off with the bundle.
But Xin Di didn't notice that as he turned, Wang Yu flicked his finger—a tiny white speck, no bigger than a grain of rice, flashed once and vanished silently into the bundle he carried.
Wang Yu glanced at the safe, now melted open with a gaping hole, and the charred corpse nearby. He raised an eyebrow, flicked his finger toward the corpse, and a wisp of flame landed on it—reducing it instantly to ash.
He then walked to the silver safe, placed one palm against it, and activated the silver talisman in his spiritual sea.
"Whoosh."
The next instant, the entire safe vanished from the wall, appearing directly inside the talisman's storage space.
The safe had blocked his spiritual sense—he was curious about its material and planned to study it thoroughly when he had time.
In that brief moment, the burly youth returned, carrying a leather sack. Seeing Wang Yu, he blurted out:
"I deleted all the bar's surveillance footage. Luckily, the explosion wasn't loud—I already handled the questions. Everyone else in the bar has been sent away. I'll put up a 'Closed Tonight' sign until noon tomorrow. No one will notice what happened here."
After speaking, the youth glanced at the empty wall, froze, then looked down at the small pile of ash on the floor—his expression shifted slightly.
"Let's go. I'm hungry after all this. I remember there's a nice restaurant across from Huanglong Entertainment City. Let's eat there first."
…
Over two hours later.
In a private room of the restaurant across from Huanglong Entertainment City, a round table was piled high with food. Wang Yu and the burly youth sat opposite each other, eating silently.
Wang Yu tossed aside the chicken leg he'd been eating, swallowed his last bite, and finally showed a satisfied expression. He poured himself a glass of water and watched the youth wolfing down his food—something like envy stirred in him.
The man's body must be truly well-trained—he had such a huge appetite.
If he were still in his cultivation world's physical body, without pills or beast meat to nourish it, he'd eat even more than this man.
I really need to train this body properly when I have time.
"Enough eating. Ask your questions now—I'm leaving tonight." The burly youth finished his bread in a few bites, drained a large bowl of soup, wiped his mouth, and spoke directly to Wang Yu.
