Chapter 94: Security Team

~7 min read 1,289 words

In this era, America had just finished the First Gulf War, added to the reunification of East and West Germany, and the red empire to the north was teetering on the brink of collapse. Thus, American soldiers of this era felt themselves invincible and unstoppable.

Even if this soldier did not necessarily participate in that war, using the same equipment would inevitably make others think, "If I were up there, I could do it too." And this was probably not an illusion, but the true fact.

Even if this soldier retired, the habits of the military would not be worn away by ordinary life so quickly.

But Brian and the others did not possess that piercing sharpness; they were reserved and steady. For two superstars who had seen countless people, such an aura made them trust the other party a little more.

After all, a person who acts calmly and remains unperturbed in the face of change is always more trustworthy than those fiery, impetuous young lads. The latter's probability of messing things up is far higher than the former's.

However, Audrey, once seated, did not rashly trust anyone in this team completely. She took a document from her bag, placed it on the table, and pushed it forward.

"This itinerary was set by the people of the Children's Fund. Look at this itinerary and tell me what kind of coordination you can provide, and whether there is a need to change the planned itinerary to coordinate. If possible, please tell me roughly."

Regardless of which Lady He Ben it was, they had all encountered so-called security teams, not necessarily the few burly men before them.

After all, during their peak popularity, who didn't have a few bodyguards following them? Even during the film promotion period, when running all over America, the film team would inevitably have security personnel following them to avoid unnecessary accidents.

So Audrey He Ben took out the itinerary arranged by the United Nations Children's Fund and handed it over to the other party as a test.

Even without relevant knowledge, having been protected for so long, one's eye for judgment had been honed. Whether the other party was good or bad could be known just by listening to their plan.

If they just sat there holding in a fart, knowing only to stand like a post beside the protected person, the quality of such a team would not be good either.

However, Brian Mills was a very organized person. He flipped through the itinerary plan provided by the United Nations while explaining, for each item, what kind of coordination and deployment his team members could make.

He also pointed out the deficiencies in the original plan and what adjustments were needed. Item by item, case by case, everything was explained quite clearly.

At least to the laymen present, it would only feel that this person seemed very impressive, and what he said must be true.

Regarding Brian's explanation and corrections, Audrey naturally found no fault. She said, "Mr. Mills, could you organize what you just said into a plan?"

"You should know that to correct the itinerary proposed by the Children's Fund, we must also propose a reasonable plan. It is not a matter of arbitrarily modifying the plan and demanding others to coordinate only when the time comes."

Brian Mills unexpectedly revealed a shy smile and said, "I take this to mean we have got this job?"

"Of course, welcome." Audrey stood up and shook hands with Brian in greeting.

Brian added, "If we are to formulate a plan, may I keep a copy of this original itinerary for reference?"

"Of course, this is not a confidential document." Audrey replied. Immediately, an assistant from the management company took the document to make copies.

Audrey said, "I am very sorry, but time is a bit tight, and there are not many days left before departure. You may have to trouble yourselves to move quickly."

"We understand that." Brian nodded. "—I wonder, once our new plan is written, how should we contact you?"

"Please give it to my new assistant, Henry Brown." Henry did not sit down with the two superstars but stood behind them. When Audrey introduced him, he nodded to the other party in greeting.

Having thought of something, Audrey turned and asked, "Henry, do you have a fax machine?"

"I only have an answering machine. If you want to use a fax machine, you just need to apply for another telephone line."

In this era where the internet was just sprouting and email addresses were still hatching eggs in some corner, document transmission relied on fax machines or mail.

Although this thing could be bought at any hardware or electrical store, to avoid competing with the telephone for the line, one had to apply for another telephone line. This was not something one could buy and have immediately; one had to wait for the telephone company personnel to come and install it.

So Audrey turned to look at her insurance manager and said, "Then Mr. Wales, may I borrow your fax machine?"

"Of course, Madam."

"Then Mr. Mills..."

Brian Mills interrupted, "Madam, just call me Brian."

"Alright, Brian. Then you call me Audrey too. If you want to fax documents, please fax them to Mr. Ronny. If you want to schedule a time to negotiate, please contact Henry."

Henry wrote a phone number by hand and handed it over. He said, "Sorry, I don't have business cards yet."

Jumping from an extra to a star's assistant was a big change in identity, so Henry had not yet made changes to the things around him.

Fortunately, Brian was not a rigid person. After taking the phone number, he asked again, "At that time, how many people will be in the Madam's team accompanying her? I need to confirm how many people I am protecting."

Audrey replied, "The United Nations personnel will have members of the peacekeeping force accompanying them, so we don't need to worry. A few of you are mainly responsible for the safety of me and my assistant, Henry."

Although that young man who couldn't be shot didn't need to be worried about either, Audrey didn't choose to be so big-mouthed as to spread it everywhere. This was also Henry's private instruction; such things really didn't need to be said everywhere.

Moreover, in her understanding, Henry was only invulnerable to bullets; if he was left behind during an operation, it would still be a tragedy.

However, Brian was looking at the other superstar present. Catherine noticed the gaze, waved her hand, and laughed, "Come on, you don't think I, an old woman in my eighties, would go and trouble myself, do you?"

"Leave the work in the Dark Continent to you young people. I came today just to join the fun and see what you are like. If you want to protect Audrey well, a shell that looks strong on the outside but is weak on the inside won't do."

"Then... are we qualified, Lady He Ben?" Brian asked.

The talkative Catherine retorted, "Which Lady He Ben are you asking about?"

As she spoke, the two old sisters with the same surname but no blood relation chuckled again.

Only then could one see the immature side of Brian Mills; he blushed and scratched his head shyly. But his few comrades-in-arms didn't let him off just like that; they started playing around directly.

Fortunately, they remembered they were in front of ladies and on someone else's turf, so they didn't go too far. But they still ruffled Brian's hair, which he had painstakingly combed neat, into a complete mess.

The two old sisters found this even more amusing.
