Chapter 24
Although he wanted to keep cursing, his super-hearing had already picked up the voice of the assistant director calling the background actors.
Henry hurriedly grabbed a few donuts and stuffed them into his mouth. Then he downed the cola in one gulp and, holding a belly full of resentment, continued today’s work.
The young man, who had been cursed into a daze, had never felt so wronged in his life. But he wasn't discouraged or helpless; he was just thinking about words for a counterattack.
But before the words could come out, his opponent had run away! How is this any different from a low-class player who wins money at poker and runs off?
He wanted to get up and chase him, but he couldn't bear to part with the half-eaten cheese burger in his hand. "Hey, don't run." Only then did he notice there was a big black guy in a chef’s uniform nearby.
Old Black, of course, wasn't someone like Henry who hadn't seen the world; he knew exactly who this young man, who was loving the burger, was.
It was just that in the scene just now, he had been scared silly. He never expected his new friend to have a conflict with this person!
It wasn't until Henry hurried away and most of the people in the dining area had left that he came to his senses and stepped forward to greet him: "Young Master Stark."
Tony Stark didn't reply; he just looked at this big black guy who recognized him with some impatience.
Old Black introduced himself: "Young Master, I am Wesley Washington. The head chef of the chef team you hired."
"Oh, it’s you. I remember you." Tony Stark held up the food he had eaten a small portion of and said, "The burger is not bad. At least it proves that hiring you was the right decision."
Old Black Wesley wiped the sweat from his forehead and said, "Um, Young Master, I have to be honest with you. This is a new recipe that I developed together with the person just now. I am honored to add it to my cooking, and you can enjoy it again in the future.
"But regarding what just happened, could I ask you to be magnanimous and forgive him this once? I will tell him your identity so he understands respect, and there won't be a next time."
Old Black pleaded on Henry’s behalf.
At this point, if he still didn't know who the biggest name in the film production team was, it would be a waste of his frequent sightings of these wealthy people in the sky.
Stark—a surname that Americans have been unable to get around since World War II. Stark Industries’ products, from civilian projects to military projects, although not many types are produced, are inevitably boutique items in their field as long as they are made.
The key point! Howard Stark had a very good relationship with the U.S. military. As an unlisted scientist, he frequently appeared in military research projects, sometimes as the lead, sometimes as a consultant.
With such a background, pulling the active-duty battleship *Missouri* out for a stroll wasn't a difficult task. Even if they needed to, they could probably pull out an aircraft carrier strike group.
Wesley certainly didn't want his new friend to offend this person to death, so he helped plead for him. From this point of view, he could be considered a very loyal person. Not the kind of person who, when encountering danger, only thinks about running faster than their companions.
Tony Stark didn't answer directly, but asked, "What was that about him leaving right after cursing someone?"
"He should be preparing to film. The actors who are the same as him have also mostly left."
"He’s also an actor? A lead? A supporting role?" Tony Stark only remembered who the female lead of this movie was and the two points about needing to borrow the battleship *Missouri*. He hadn't kept anything else in mind, which is why he asked now.
"Young Master Stark..."
"Don't call me Young Master, and don't call me Mr. Stark; that reminds me of another Stark. You can call me Tony." The young man, still in his rebellious phase, emphasized.
"Okay, Tony. He’s just a background actor, not a lead, nor a supporting role. He really isn't worth you dealing with..."
Old Black’s words were interrupted again. Tony Stark, while eating the burger, said, "This taste is really not bad. If I say I want him to be my personal chef, would he agree?"
Wesley was stunned, then said, "I believe this would be Henry’s honor, but I don't think he would agree."
"How do you know?"
"Because I also tried to recruit him to be my assistant, and even helped him start his own business. But Henry didn't agree."
"Refused? You didn't pay enough." A child from a wealthy family’s first instinct is that the money wasn't enough.
Old Black said in fear, "No, no, no, I offered him a fixed salary of 150,000 dollars a year. If he goes out on catering jobs with me, there’s a separate bonus every time. This is much higher than his pay as a background actor."
Tony Stark, of course, wouldn't understand that an annual salary of 150,000 dollars was already more than three times the average American salary.
He just recalled another matter, related to several keywords spoken by that man.
Caltech, stupid question, idiot. Especially the last one; he only associated it with Justin Hammer.
This, of course, doesn't mean that there is only one idiot at Caltech. It’s just that the only idiot worth being remembered by Tony Stark is that one.
So many hints were enough for Tony Stark to recall the time at the library’s outdoor lounge when Justin Hammer used a question about a space shuttle returning to Earth to fish out a background actor who could calculate the answer at a glance.
Possessing superb calculation ability is nothing to Tony Stark. Especially those students from the Eastern country, each one comparable to a human electronic calculator.
But this person also has good culinary skills, which can only be said to be a genius who hasn't given up on the taste of life. This is good; much better than those eccentric geniuses who can't take care of their own lives.
And then this person’s job is to be a background actor in Hollywood... Is he sick?
Any one of the above three traits appearing on someone alone wouldn't be worth Tony Stark’s attention.
But to have all three together—I have to say, with Tony’s extensive experience, he would also be interested in such a patient. He’d want to cut the person’s brain open to see where it’s knotted or missing a screw.
"With better jobs, why does that guy have to be an actor? Does he really want to be a big star that much?" Tony Stark asked.
At the same time, he was thinking in his heart that if the other party wanted to be a star, what he would have to do to make the other party submit.
However, on this point, Old Black also knew what Henry was thinking. He said, "I asked him, and he doesn't want to be famous. He just likes Ms. Audrey Hepburn, so he came to Hollywood to see the world. Maybe when he gets tired of it, he’ll go find another job."
"Oh, when he gets tired of it." Tony Stark repeated this sentence with interest.
