Chapter 25
"I regret to inform you of such news, Henry."
This was the first sentence the Kryptonian who traveled to this world heard when facing the big star.
Steven Seagal stood in front of Henry with a serious face and said, "We already know about the conflict in the dining area yesterday. Regardless of the ins and outs of the matter, you did say impolite words.
"Although Mr. Stark did not make such a request, other producers believe that letting you continue to stay in the team is not conducive to the filming of the movie.
"After all, being able to borrow the battleship *Missouri* as a filming location would have been impossible without Mr. Stark’s assistance. If there were another conflict, it wouldn't be good for anyone. You can agree with this, right?"
Mr. Stark?
Motherfucker!
Henry, who was stunned, figured out the cause and effect of the matter in an instant.
In this world, on the American side, there are only two Starks who can be valued so highly. One is the genius scientist and entrepreneur who has been active since World War II, Howard Stark; the other, of course, is the future owner of Stark Industries, Tony Stark.
In other words, judging by his age, the bastard who snatched his burger yesterday was Tony Stark. And he had cursed him out—it really... wasn't a wrongful accusation!
With that attitude, he actually didn't treat him to a Kryptonian iron fist—he must have been protected by the protagonist’s luck!
Henry, having figured it out, said with a serious face, "I understand, Mr. Seagal. So how should we handle it now?"
Steven Seagal took out a check and said, "Your work ends today. This is the settlement of your previous salary. If there is a problem with the number, you can go to finance."
Henry didn't say a word and accepted the check. His status in the production team was originally that of a dispensable background actor. Insisting on staying and arguing about the contract would only make everyone look bad.
Seeing that the person in front of him was so sensible, Steven Seagal also felt relieved. He shook hands with Henry and said, "It’s a pity we have to handle it this way.
"Actually, I think highly of you. Your performance in the action scenes we worked on was better than anyone else’s. I even thought about signing you to my personal team, but unfortunately, this happened today. I hope we have another chance to cooperate."
Henry said, "Thank you, Mr. Seagal."
Whether it was polite or sincere, big stars are busier than others. After Steven Seagal finished speaking, he left first. As for Henry, naturally, someone would watch him leave to ensure he didn't cause trouble.
Going to the locker room to change out of the villain henchman costume, Henry was light and ready to leave. Passing by the dining area, he saw Chef Old Black directing people to clean up the aftermath of breakfast. Henry thought he would say hello to him before leaving.
Henry first said to the two set security guards following him, "Hey, brothers. I’ll chat with the chef for a few words, then go back to the hotel to pack up and leave. Is that okay?"
These two big guys also had a friendship with Henry from smoking together.
They looked at each other and said, "Brother, don't stay too long. There’s no scene for the female lead this morning, so you and that person shouldn't run into each other again during this time. You have to guarantee you won't cause trouble, so we can explain it to the producers."
"Guaranteed not to cause trouble," Henry vowed, touching his heart.
As for the hints from the two security guards, they were already obvious enough. Whether the female lead had no scenes in the morning or it was a temporary arrangement, it always had to do with that young master. But that wasn't something Henry could worry about.
Henry went over and did a fist bump with the black chef. Old Black, whose racial talent was speaking with a built-in rap rhythm, said enthusiastically, "How come I didn't see you come for breakfast this morning? Brother."
"I met the big star, Mr. Steven Seagal," Henry said honestly.
Logically, this should be a good thing, but Old Black sensed something wrong from Henry’s face, which didn't have much of a smile. He asked, "Brother, what’s wrong?"
Taking the check out of his pocket and shaking it, Henry said, "My work ends today. I don't need to come tomorrow."
"How could they do that?"
"Why not? The termination clause in the contract is for when it’s needed," said Henry, who was very open-minded.
He patted the check in his chest pocket and said, "And the other party followed the rules; they didn't deduct a single cent. Even if I wanted to cause trouble, I have no reason."
Henry remembered the contract content clearly. His daily wage plus the compensation for the crew’s active termination indeed equaled the number on the check; he couldn't find a single flaw.
"Then they..." He wanted to discuss why, but Old Black suddenly widened his eyes and said, "Could it be because of what happened yesterday?"
"Yeah, it’s because I offended the young master of the Stark family."
"You know that person’s identity now."
"I just found out," Henry said with an innocent face.
"But I pleaded for you yesterday, and Mr. Stark agreed not to pursue it. Is there some misunderstanding in the middle?" Old Black complained.
First surprised by Old Black’s loyalty, Henry then felt angry at Tony Stark’s broken promise. But thinking about it for a moment, he knew things might not be like that.
Henry said, "It’s probably not that young master who took the initiative to pursue it. Otherwise, he should have come forward himself and humiliated me; that would have been satisfying. But when I met Mr. Seagal, he was just doing business, and he was quite polite on the surface."
"Then what’s going on?"
"I guess the producer didn't want me to have another conflict with that young master, so they wanted me gone. If it was that Stark family young master who borrowed the ship, then he is indeed very important. By comparison, I am insignificant."
Chef Wesley certainly understood that Henry wasn't wrong at all.
Those in power don't need to command others to do anything for things to be pushed forward. Instead, there will naturally be people around them who guess their intentions and then exert initiative.
Then they just need to pick an appropriate time to state their actions. Although they may not necessarily reap the gratitude of these powerful people, as long as they can be remembered, it is a big step forward.
Although Old Black knew quite a few rich people through catering, he only knew them. He understood their thoughts better than ordinary people, but he couldn't change anything.
By comparison, Henry was thinking about another matter. That person yesterday was the first superhero he had encountered since coming to this world... well, the human body before becoming a superhero.
But the other party didn't look like the actor in his memory at all. Henry asked casually, "Chef, do you know Robert Downey Jr.?"
