Chapter 346, Stand Back a Bit (Second Update)
Appraisal complete, this guy really is missing a screw.
"Kid, go hang out wherever it’s cool, we’re not familiar."
"I’m not a kid, I’m already sixteen years old," Mo Chen retorted, but then met Ye Jiuliang’s half-smiling gaze and immediately chickened out.
"Who is he?" Li Mochan leaned over, asking close to Ye Jiuliang’s ear.
Ye Jiuliang laughed softly, lowering her voice, "I’d like to know the answer to that question too."
Just then, the waiter, with practiced ease, began to push the cart over and serve the dishes.
As he poured the red wine, the waiter bent slightly, "Please enjoy your meal."
Looking at the dishes on the table, Mo Chen’s stomach growled at just the right moment.
He licked his lips and asked quietly, "Sister, may I eat with you?"
"There are other empty tables over there," Ye Jiuliang reminded him.
Mo Chen’s head drooped in disappointment as he told a little lie, "I didn’t bring my wallet."
Ye Jiuliang looked at his designer clothes, thinking, if he hadn’t brought his wallet, what was he doing here?
Can’t even concoct a decent lie.
"Eat up before everything gets cold," Li Mochan said, placing the sliced beef in front of her, then raising his eyes to Mo Chen with a somewhat warning glare.
When Mo Chen got nervous, he would unconsciously lick his lips; meeting Li Mochan’s stare always gave him the sensation of falling into an icy cave.
He’s scarier than my father and grandfather.
"Sister," he looked to Ye Jiuliang for protection, who was busy eating and had almost forgotten his existence.
Ye Jiuliang glanced up at him, her hand pausing as she reached for her wine glass, "You want to sit here and eat with us?"
"Yep, yep," Mo Chen nodded frantically like a pecking chicken.
Ye Jiuliang put down her wine glass, "Sit down then."
Upon hearing this, Mo Chen smiled broadly, pulled out a chair, and happily sat down opposite her.
"Order whatever you want," Ye Jiuliang said, sliding the menu toward him, the corner of her mouth curling into an intriguing faint smile.
Mo Chen nodded with a beaming smile, flipping through the menu.
"Kid, what’s your name?" Ye Jiuliang casually asked.
"Mo Chen," the boy blurted out.
Ye Jiuliang asked, "Your surname is Mo?"
Mo Chen nodded, glanced at what Ye Jiuliang was eating, and pressed the call button on the table.
The waiter came over, and he pointed to Ye Jiuliang’s plate of steak, saying, "I’ll have the same as her."
"Certainly, please wait a moment," the waiter replied.
"Are you from here?" Ye Jiuliang continued.
Mo Chen nodded, hands crossed on the table, leaning forward. "Sister, are you here on vacation? I could be your guide; I’m very familiar with this place."
"Sister, I’ve seen your racing videos, so cool."
"Sister, could you teach me how to ride a motorcycle too?"
"Sister, can I come to find you to play in the future?"
The young man’s rosebud lips opened and closed as he prattled on without end.
Ye Jiuliang felt a headache coming on, cutting him off, "Shut up."
Mo Chen immediately clamped his lips shut, silence falling at once.
Blinking his clear eyes, his innocent look made it hard for anyone to be mad at him.
Finally enjoying some quiet, Ye Jiuliang inquired, "How did you end up here? Are you investigating me?"
Fearful of being misunderstood by Ye Jiuliang, Mo Chen hurriedly explained, "No, no, I just came here to eat, I happened to see you at the door."
"Didn’t you say you didn’t bring your wallet?" she asked.
Mo Chen replied, "I was supposed to meet up with a classmate, but he had something come up last minute."
Ye Jiuliang stared at him intently for a moment, then turned her head and exchanged a look with Li Mochan, the smile fading gradually from her lips.
