Chapter 354, Are you sick? (Second update)
Jiang Yisheng, "..."
Since when had his pet dog become an ingrate?
Seeing this, Veya chuckled lightly and teased her son, "Asheng, you’ve been snubbed by Erbao, it seems Erbao thinks Mingqian is more handsome than you."
A hint of helplessness flashed in Jiang Yisheng’s eyes.
Ji Mingqian was a good conversationalist and was getting along very well with Madam Jiang and others, occasionally making them burst into laughter with his jokes.
"Mingqian, can you drink alcohol?" Jiang Hai, standing in front of the liquor cabinet choosing a bottle, turned his head to ask Ji Mingqian.
Ji Mingqian said, "Yes."
"Didn’t you drive here?" Jiang Yisheng hesitated for a long time before he still ended up asking.
Ji Mingqian glanced at him sideways, the profound look in his eyes made Jiang Yisheng feel a bit uneasy, and he internally regretted his unnecessary comment.
With his driving skills, he probably could handle driving after drinking two bottles of liquor without a problem.
Ji Mingqian leaned in and lowered his voice, "Don’t worry, no matter how much I drink, I won’t recklessly mistake people when I’m drunk."
Jiang Yisheng’s lips thinned, "..."
"Asheng, Mingqian, dinner’s ready, come over," Veya called out from the dining room.
Ji Mingqian put down Erbao and stood up, lifting his hand to brush off the dog hair on him.
Jiang Yisheng got up with the help of the sofa, his bandaged foot made it difficult for him to put weight on it, so he had to hobble along slowly.
Ji Mingqian took a step forward, then turned back upon seeing him limping, and reached out to help him.
"No need." Jiang Yisheng avoided his hand, his expression indifferent, hard to read his emotions.
Ji Mingqian casually withdrew his hand, his long legs taking strides that could cover several of Jiang Yisheng’s.
"Jiang Yisheng, I’ve discovered you’re really quite petty," Ji Mingqian said as he walked beside him, deliberately slowing his pace.
Getting upset over a joke, was it necessary?
Moreover, what he had said was true; he did indeed mistakenly recognize people when drunk.
"You’re only realizing this now proves you’re not very observant," Jiang Yisheng said with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
The smile on Ji Mingqian’s face froze, heh, pretty quick response.
He scoffed, "Yes, I’m indeed not observant, or else how could I mistake someone I barely know as a friend."
Before the words had fully left his lips, Jiang Yisheng’s figure came to a halt, his legs as heavy as if filled with lead, unable to take another step.
He lowered his eyes, his heart a mix of complex emotions.
"Asheng, what are you two doing just standing here? Come in and eat," Jiang Hai holding a bottle of wine came over and, seeing them both standing there, urged them to come in.
Jiang Yisheng hid the despondency in his eyes and said softly, "Dad, I’m not hungry. I’ll go rest in my room, you guys go ahead and eat."
"Not hungry?" Jiang Hai was surprised and frowned, "You barely ate anything for breakfast, how can you not be hungry? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, I’m really not hungry, I just ate two pastries and I’m a bit full," Jiang Yisheng lied casually.
"How full can two pastries make you? Hurry up and sit down to eat," Jiang Hai insisted sternly.
If he didn’t eat, he would become as thin as a rail in a few days.
Ji Mingqian glanced at Jiang Yisheng and spoke up before him, "Uncle, he’s joking. You go ahead; I’ll help him."
Jiang Hai agreed and, inspecting the wine in his hand, went inside.
Ji Mingqian withdrew his gaze and reached out to grab Jiang Yisheng, who was attempting to leave.
He reminded him, "It’s time to eat."
Jiang Yisheng broke free from his grip, his voice gentle yet distant, "I’m not hungry."
"Then you can just watch us eat," Ji Mingqian suggested brazenly.
Jiang Yisheng clenched his back teeth, losing his patience.
His voice lowered with a hint of anger, "Ji Mingqian, are you out of your mind?"
At that moment, he couldn’t help but suspect that Ji Mingqian remembered what he had said that day, and had specifically come today to annoy him.
