Chapter 365, others do not feel it (first more)
"What’s that?" Feng Yi asked curiously, looking at Ye Jiuliang, "What did you buy?"
Ye Jiuliang sat down opposite them and reached for the bag that was thrown on the sofa.
Li Mochan glanced at Ji Mingqian and the others, a provocative smile pressing at the corners of his lips.
"This is it." Ye Jiuliang opened the box roughly and placed the Lie Detector on the table.
"Ever played?"
Ji Mingqian and his companions looked at the item on the table, completely clueless.
What the hell is this.
"What is this?" Feng Yi picked up the Lie Detector, examining it closely.
Ye Jiuliang revealed, "Lie Detector."
"Just this?" Ji Mingqian scoffed, "Can this determine who’s lying?"
Ye Jiuliang spread the instruction manual on the table, a mischievous smile hooked at his lips, "Well, wouldn’t we know if we tried?"
Ji Mingqian instinctively sensed danger, his gaze towards her filled with increased caution, "You’re not planning to have us try this, are you?"
This is nothing short of a banquet laying a trap.
Meeting their wary eyes, Ye Jiuliang’s lips twisted into a smile.
"If you don’t believe this thing can detect lies, then what are you afraid of?"
Ji Mingqian snorted with laughter, "If this crappy toy could detect lies, the world wouldn’t have so many liars."
"How about this—we spin a bottle, and whoever it points to has to answer a question posed by anyone else," Feng Yi suggested eagerly, always curious about such novel trinkets.
Ye Jiuliang agreed, "Sounds good."
If she agreed, then Li Mochan definitely had no objections. Feng Yi looked at Ji Mingqian, taunting him, "Mingqian, you’re not scared, are you?"
Even though he knew it was a dare, Ji Mingqian still agreed. After all, the lie detector was just a novel gadget—the reliability was probably no more than ten percent.
Now only the last person remained. Jiang Yisheng met everyone’s gaze and said with an embarrassed laugh, "Can I just watch from the sidelines?"
Feng Yi raised an eyebrow, "What do you think?"
"Then why are you all looking at me?" Jiang Yisheng said with a mournful face.
There wasn’t even a chance to choose, so why ask at all.
Feng Yi rubbed his hands together eagerly, "Then it’s happily decided."
Jiang Yisheng, "..."
What’s so happy about it? It’s clearly by force.
"I have another question, what’s the punishment if someone doesn’t want to answer a question?"
Ye Jiuliang’s lips curved up lightly, "Then they take a shot, a full glass."
Hearing this, Jiang Yisheng felt a chill.
This is practically lethal.
Everyone gathered around the table on the carpet, except Jiang Yisheng, who sat on the sofa.
As Feng Yi poured the drinks, he said, "Asheng, why are you sitting so far away? Come join us here."
Jiang Yisheng slid down and casually sat on the carpet. With the heating on in the room, he pulled off the scarf around his neck, revealing his pale neck with faint blue veins visible beneath the light.
To have an empty wine bottle to spin, Feng Yi poured a full glass of red wine for each person, except Jiang Yisheng, who had juice.
Ji Mingqian sipped his wine, his peripheral vision catching the person diagonally across from him drinking juice in small sips, recalling the time when the latter had drunkenly vomited all over him.
"Mingqian, I heard your movie is premiering soon. Looks like the Best Actor trophy will be yours again next year," Feng Yi said as he clinked glasses with him. Ji Mingqian’s acting was beyond doubt, and with a top director like Director Xu, it was the icing on the cake.
Ji Mingqian pulled at his lip, tilting his head back, the full glass of wine quickly reduced by half.
He teased, "Feng Yi, with your deep pockets, why don’t you book a couple of shows to support it?"
"Sure, Asheng and I will both come to your premiere to support you," Feng Yi agreed generously.
Jiang Yisheng quietly continued with his cold dish, never joining the conversation.
"It’s starting," Feng Yi said as he put the bottle on the table and gave it a skillful spin.
The body of the bottle kept rotating, its speed gradually slowing down.
The sound of breathing uniformly slowed in unison.
With clear eyes fixed on the slowing bottle, Ye Jiuliang felt an uneasy premonition at the bottom of her heart.
It couldn’t possibly end up pointing at her.
Sometimes, what you fear most really does come to pass.
The bottle wobbled and swayed, finally coming to a stop pointing squarely in Ye Jiuliang’s direction.
In that moment, Ji Mingqian and Feng Yi cheered together, with Ji Mingqian even more smugly whistling.
"Ajiu, you’re not very lucky today."
Ye Jiuliang cocked her head, her head resting on Li Mochan’s arm, her expression sullen.
Damn.
She had screwed herself over on the very first go.
It really was like she had run into some bad mojo.
Li Mochan looked down at her, a helpless chuckle escaping him, and raised a hand to touch her head.
Little wolf cub, I can’t save you this time.
Accepting her fate, Ye Jiuliang lifted her eyelids and glared at them, "Ask whatever you want."
"Was Ahan your first love? Before Ahan, did you ever have feelings for another man?" Feng Yi couldn’t wait to jump in, his tone full of gossip and the rhythm of stirring up trouble.
No sooner were the words out, than Ji Mingqian’s mouth twitched slightly. Such a technically deficient question, he already knew the answer.
Ye Jiuliang, this wild one, only Li Mochan could handle her.
Ye Jiuliang let out a light chuckle, tilting her head up to meet the man’s gaze, the amusement in her eyes deepening.
"What if I say no?"
Li Mochan stated decisively, "Impossible."
Ye Jiuliang laughed out loud, "Well, that’s not necessarily true, you know I’m quite popular."
"So is it or isn’t it?" Feng Yi didn’t want to be force-fed more dog food, and urged for an answer.
Ye Jiuliang turned to look at him, placed her hand on the Lie Detector, pressed the start button, and said calmly, "He was my first love, and I feel nothing for any other man besides Li Mochan."
Multiple gazes converged on the Lie Detector, watching as the lights flickered before stabilizing.
With a "beep", she passed.
"See?" Ye Jiuliang said with raised eyebrows, boastfully.
A smile spread across Li Mochan’s features, clearly very pleased with Ye Jiuliang’s answer.
Unexpectedly shown another display of affection, Feng Yi felt sour enough to lose his teeth.
Not quite trusting the Lie Detector, he looked to Ji Mingqian for confirmation, "Is it true?"
Ji Mingqian shrugged his shoulders and nodded, "You should just ask me for this kind of question, don’t waste the opportunity."
He reached out to take the Lie Detector, "Let’s play another round; I don’t believe this thing works."
"Asheng, you spin," Feng Yi snatched Jiang Yisheng’s chopsticks away, prompting him to join the game.
Jiang Yisheng glanced at him, placed his hand on the bottle, gave it a clockwise spin, then withdrew his hand.
The more they played, the more addictive it became. Feng Yi watched as the mouth of the bottle hovered and swayed between him and Ji Mingqian, growing increasingly nervous.
He swallowed hard, praying that it wouldn’t be him.
It seemed the heavens heard his prayers, as the mouth of the bottle finally came to a stop facing Ji Mingqian’s direction.
Ye Jiuliang immediately whistled in celebration, "Aqian, looks like it’s your turn now, huh?"
"Ask away," Ji Mingqian gave her a wry look, placed his right hand in the finger slot of the Lie Detector, and hit the start button.
"Are you still a virgin?" The gossipy Feng Yi was back at it, with a question that absolutely crossed the boundaries.
