Chapter 440, Admit Defeat or Not ( - One)
She playfully threw a mock punch at his shoulder, and Allen teased, "You don’t take care of me like that."
"Get lost," Ji Mingqian laughed and cursed.
In his eyes, since he had brought Jiang Yisheng along, he naturally had to take extra care of him.
"Enough talk, I’m off."
Opening the car door, Ji Mingqian got in.
Allen let out a chuckle, just about to leave when the car window behind him suddenly rolled down and Ji Mingqian stuck his head out to look at him.
Over the noise of the chilling wind, his magnetic voice sounded, "No need to come see me off tomorrow, and pass the message on to the others."
Allen’s lips curled into a smile, "Safe travels."
Ji Mingqian waved at him and then turned his gaze to the driver in front, "Let’s go."
As the car faded into the distance, Allen turned around to take care of the "Drunken Cats."
...
Late at night, the bedroom light was still on.
Having finished processing the documents, Li Mochan closed his laptop and looked up to see the person playing games on the tablet not far away. He stood up and walked over.
Hearing his footsteps, Ye Jiuliang remained focused on the game, "Are you done with the documents?"
Li Mochan hummed in affirmation and lay down beside her, pulling her into his arms.
He nuzzled her cheek with his own and said in a low tone like that of a cello about to be played, "Little wolf cub, want to come with me on a business trip, hm?"
"A business trip?" Ye Jiuliang was surprised and casually threw the tablet aside, turning around to face him.
"Where to?"
"To Country Y," he said.
Confusion tinged Ye Jiuliang’s eyes, "What for?"
"To sign a contract and discuss the details.
The deal in the eastern part of Country Y had been settled; he needed to go see it for himself and also discuss the contract details with Matt.
A round trip would probably take about two or three days.
"When are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow."
Ye Jiuliang leaned her body and laid her head on his chest, "Then forget it, I won’t go."
Beisen had an exam in the next two days, she couldn’t ask for leave, and Aqian was coming back tomorrow. She also needed to check on the situation on Matt’s side; if necessary, she would have to make a trip herself.
The hand that had been threading through her hair paused slightly, and Li Mochan looked down at her, his eyes slightly raised in question, "You can bear to let me go?"
His voice was steady, a dangerous signal hidden within.
Ye Jiuliang looked up at him, her bright eyes curving, and she pinched his jaw lightly, "It’s just two days; what’s there to miss?"
"Heartless little brat, who will warm up your bed when I’m gone, huh?" Li Mochan teased, his forehead against hers and his warm breath brushing her cheek.
"And there’s also Erbao," Ye Jiuliang borrowed his words, purposely teasing him.
Before she could finish, her wrist was suddenly grasped, and as the room seemed to spin, Ye Jiuliang looked up, a shadow falling over her.
Li Mochan leaned over, his deep gaze fixed on her, "If that dog dares to enter our room, I’ll slaughter it."
Thinking it could hog his bed was wishful thinking.
Ye Jiuliang laughed unrestrainedly, "Getting angry so easily?"
His voice, low and mellow, was utterly enticing, "Little wolf cub, I think we need to have a serious talk."
Ye Jiuliang turned her head away, evading his approaching lips.
With a push of her knee, Li Mochan’s deep gaze darkened as he was forced to sit up and avoid her.
"Ye Jiuliang!" he called out in frustration.
The heartless little brat was actually taking this seriously.
Seizing the moment he let go, Ye Jiuliang sat up, bending her long legs, resting a hand on her head, and taunted with a smirk, "Who told you to sneak attack first, not satisfied? Come, fight me."
Li Mochan gritted his teeth, a dangerous edge forming in his brow, "In need of a lesson, hmm?"
"It’s still not certain who needs a tune-up," Ye Jiuliang licked the corner of her lips, her tone as arrogantly as ever, "If you lose, you’ll stay in the study tonight."
A dark hue flickered in Mo’s eyes before suddenly fixing in place. With a stretch of his iron arm, Li Mochan’s large hand reached out for her.
Her dress fluttered, carrying with it a biting chill.
"Nananana." Ye Jiuliang grabbed a pillow to fend off his hand and still had the leisure to pull a face at him.
The next moment, she slid off the bed and ran towards the sofa.
"You little rascal."
Li Mochan swatted away the pillow, his tall frame rising abruptly with speed like a ghostly apparition.
Their shadows chased each other on the pristine walls.
Ye Jiuliang spun and jumped onto the sofa, sensing the large hand reaching from behind, she turned and met it with a punch.
The cool hand enveloped hers, and with a light tug, Ye Jiuliang tilted forward.
Her eyes shifted, and she let herself fall onto him.
Li Mochan lowered his head and lightly pecked her ear, his voice was husky, "Little wolf cub, do you admit defeat or not, huh?"
"Not at all." Ye Jiuliang elbowed him and lifted her knee with a swift kick in the air.
Li Mochan dodged to the side, and Ye Jiuliang took the opportunity to run towards the French windows.
Upon opening the door and stepping out, the slender figure froze, unable to move another step.
Seeing her stop running, Li Mochan raised an eyebrow, speculating if there was a trick.
"Why are you just standing there?" He approached her from behind and wrapped his arms around her.
Ye Jiuliang tugged at his sleeve, her eyes brimming with laughter, "Mo, look."
Following her line of sight into the vast night, fireflies danced in swarms like twinkling stars in the Milky Way.
Li Mochan’s lips curved up slightly – it was rare for Mo Garden to have fireflies, yet tonight presented a surprising encounter.
He looked down at the person before him, the corners of his lips holding a doting smile, "Do you want it?"
It was as though the moment she nodded, he would immediately catch the fireflies for her.
Ye Jiuliang leaned into his embrace and shook her head slightly. No matter how beautiful the fireflies were, they were best enjoyed in their natural setting, not trapped in a glass jar.
Suddenly remembering something, Ye Jiuliang turned around, looking up at him, "Did you see the meteor shower on the rooftop last time?"
She had been sleepy and fallen asleep that day and forgot to ask him the next morning.
Li Mochan nodded lightly, confirming that he had.
"What wish did you make?" she asked curiously.
Li Mochan held back a smile, "Want to know?"
Ye Jiuliang’s bright eyes gazed at him, genuinely interested in the wish he made.
"I’ll tell you tomorrow."
With that, Li Mochan suddenly swept her up into his arms and headed back to the room.
"Li Mochan, tell me what wish you made first?"
"Li Mochan, are you even listening to me?"
"Li Mochan, you..."
His deep voice cut her off, "It’s too late, stop fussing."
Strands of cold air seeped in through the window gaps, and the light in the room suddenly went out.
...
The next day, Wei Bei arrived at Mo Garden early in the morning.
In truth, he had been enslaved to buy and deliver breakfast.
After breakfast, Ye Jiuliang gazed at the suitcases in the living room and suddenly felt that the candy in her mouth wasn’t sweet anymore.
Li Mochan handed Wei Bei the laptop bag and walked back to her.
He gently traced her lips with his finger, a faint smile on his lips, "Why the long face, huh?"
"Who has a long face, don’t flatter yourself," Ye Jiuliang rolled her eyes at him, saying the opposite of what she felt.
