Li Mochan extended his hand to pull her into his arms, hugging her tightly, "Remember to eat on time, I’ll be back soon."

Ye Jiuliang hooked her lips, gave an affirming hum, rose on her tiptoes, and planted a firm kiss on his lips before quickly parting.

Not far away, Wei Bei silently lowered his head.

He saw nothing.

After seeing off Li Mochan, Ye Jiuliang returned upstairs to catch up on some sleep.

**

Towards noon, the calm sea surface rippled only occasionally.

The quiet island, with the intrusion of a group of men in black, lost its usual tranquility and harmony.

As the season passed, a vast expanse of pear blossoms withered, the bare branches exuding a sense of desolation and sadness.

Hurried footsteps trampled on fallen leaves, rustling as they moved.

Immediately thereafter, the men in black stopped behind a middle-aged man in a green Tang suit.

In a mechanical voice, they reported, "Butler Mo, we found nothing, but we did find a gravestone on the back hill."

Butler Mo turned around, asking in a mechanical voice, "Whose gravestone?"

"The name written on the gravestone is Mo Tian," the man in black reported.

Butler Mo gave a cold laugh, "Destroy it."

"Yes."

Soon after, a loud crash was heard nearby.

Massive sledgehammers fell one after another, causing the ground to tremble with each strike.

Time passed, and gradually the crashing sounds ceased.

Butler Mo held a torch, the orange flame illuminating his side profile and a sinister look in his eye as he surveyed the island.

"Butler Mo, all others have already retreated," the man in black standing behind him said.

Butler Mo let out a mocking laugh and carelessly threw the torch in his hand.

As the sea breeze blew, the ferocious fire spread like a wild horse that had broken free, rampaging everywhere, consuming everything on the island.

Fueled by the sea breeze, the fire spread wildly, the flames reaching the sky and turning it red.

Butler Mo watched expressionlessly until he felt the heat approaching, and only then did he turn and board the plane.

"Retreat," he said coldly, and the plane slowly took off.

Thick black smoke billowed upwards, engulfing the entire island, and wherever the red flames reached, everything was reduced to ashes.

...

At dusk, the lights in the courtyard of Mo Garden turned on.

After finishing a video call with Chu Chen, Ye Jiuliang was about to order takeaway when two familiar figures appeared at the door.

Jiang Yisheng, with his backpack, walked in front, followed by Ji Mingqian dragging a suitcase.

Ye Jiuliang raised an eyebrow and put down her phone, "Coming back at mealtime, you two have good timing."

"Why are you alone, where’s Li Mochan?" Ji Mingqian set down his suitcase and made himself at home on the sofa.

Ye Jiuliang gave him a glance, showing a bit of disdain, "On a business trip."

At this, Ji Mingqian paused while pouring water, a hint of contemplation flashing through his eyes.

Jiang Yisheng took his own suitcase and headed upstairs, "You guys chat, I’m going to change clothes."

Once he left, Ji Mingqian straightened his expression.

"I’ve checked on Matt’s side, there’s been a new development."

Ye Jiuliang inquired, "What new development?"

Ji Mingqian sipped his water and lowered his voice, "Recently, Matt has been meeting with people from Dark Hall in private quite frequently. I’ve investigated, that Wei Bei who often follows your family member, went to see Matt a few days ago."

He spoke with some circumspection, but Ye Jiuliang still understood the implication of his words.

If that was what he said, then everything made sense.

No wonder Matt had been hesitant to agree to sign the contract with their K organization; it turns out that Dark Hall had approached him. Both organizations were equally strong, so it was no surprise that the old antique Matt was indecisive—after all, choosing one side would inevitably offend the other.

At this critical juncture, Mohan went to Country Y, the person he mentioned about signing the contract must be none other than Matt.

With this in mind, Ye Jiuliang raised her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose, feeling like it was a case of ’a flood that washed over the Dragon King Temple’—trouble indeed.

Her Li Mochan sure knew how to pose challenging problems for her.

Seeing her expression of mixed amusement and frustration, Ji Mingqian knew she had grasped his meaning and curved his finger, tapping on the table.

With a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, he said, "Li Mochan is on a business trip now, to Country Y no less. You probably know better than I do what he is up to. What do you say we should do about it now?"

Li Mochan was unfathomably cunning; he had snatched away the item that rightfully belonged to their K organization right under their noses—it was infuriating.

"What should we do?" Ye Jiuliang propped her cheek with her hand, responding casually.

Ji Mingqian crossed his legs and snorted lightly, "Without any reason, why would Li Mochan vie with us for that piece of land in the east? Could it be that you’ve done something in the name of K organization to offend him again?"

"I did not," Ye Jiuliang glared at him.

Ji Mingqian wondered aloud, "Then tell me, Dark Hall and K organization always kept to their own waters, Li Mochan could not possibly be unaware that we’re interested in that piece of land. His actions are clearly intentional."

"You seem to have forgotten how many orders we’ve taken from Dark Hall recently." Ye Jiuliang’s mind worked swiftly, and she immediately guessed her Li Mochan’s intentions.

There was no helping it, she and her Li Mochan were just too similar, both in personality and in their ways of doing things.

Ji Mingqian’s lips quivered as he lobbed the problem back at her, "You know how important that land is to our K organization, Chu Chen is waiting for me to bring the contract back. You explain it to him."

Ye Jiuliang felt a headache coming on, "You can’t be that unfaithful, can you?"

"How can I be unfaithful when it’s your man?" Ji Mingqian retorted, "Am I supposed to lead a raid on Dark Hall’s lair right now?"

"..."

Ye Jiuliang grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at him.

Ji Mingqian caught it with ease, and squinting playfully at her, teased her with his biting remarks, "Speaking of which, you should be familiar with the layout of Dark Hall and all its defense checkpoints, why don’t you lead the team? Summon the spirit of Master Jiu who once alone swept through an organization, and take over Dark Hall’s territory for our K organization."

"Ji Mingqian, get the hell out of here," Ye Jiuliang said with a dark aura emanating from her.

Ji Mingqian, showing no sign of relenting, laughed as if he enjoyed her misfortune.

Suddenly, both of their phones rang at nearly the same moment.

The laughter stopped abruptly.

Picking up her phone, Ye Jiuliang exchanged glances with Ji Mingqian.

They spoke simultaneously.

"It’s Achen."

"It’s Anuo."

Ye Jiuliang pressed the answer button, and Gu Xinuo’s voice came from the other end, her tone unable to hide the urgency.

"Ajiu, something’s happened, there’s been a fire on the island."

"What do you mean?" Ye Jiuliang stood up abruptly, her entire demeanor turning ice cold.

"I’m not too clear on the details, Achen and I are heading back now, we’ll meet up on the island. Is Aqian with you?"

Ye Jiuliang’s brows furrowed tightly, "He’s with me, we are on our way back now, be careful."

After hanging up the call, she turned around to find Ji Mingqian had also finished his call with Chu Chen.

Their eyes met, filled with a heaviness and anger.

The island couldn’t have gone up in flames without reason—there must be some trickery at hand.

Whoever dared to pull such a stunt, this grudge was set.
