Waiting precisely for these words, Madam Jiang’s face brimmed with smiles, "These are your words, so hurry up and find one."

Receiving his own father’s amused smile, Jiang Yisheng nodded helplessly.

A "ding" sounded, and the telephone beside them rang.

Jiang Yisheng reached for the phone. Whatever the person on the other end said, his gaze couldn’t help but drift towards Madam Jiang.

"Alright, I know. Please let them in."

"Asheng, who has come?" Jiang Hai did not miss the way his son’s eyes kept looking toward the old lady and asked gently.

"My cousin’s father is here," Jiang Yisheng said.

The grandmother had never liked Old Master Li, especially after learning that her daughter’s death was related to Li Shaohui and others, her hatred for the Li family had grown even stronger.

As expected, upon hearing that Old Master Li had come to visit, Madam Jiang’s smile vanished instantly, and her tone became stern, "What is he doing here?"

"Mom, it’s been such a long time since those events, and he was kept in the dark as well. Qianqian’s death cannot be entirely blamed on him alone." Jiang Hai took a cup of tea, pulled Madam Jiang’s hand closer, and handed her the teacup.

"Regardless, he is also Ahan’s father. Since Ahan is getting married, his father naturally cannot be absent from his wedding matters."

Madam Jiang wasn’t unreasonable, but she had only that precious daughter, and the pain of a parent burying their child was incomprehensible to others.

She took a light sip of the warm tea, and her expression softened slightly.

Jiang Hai gave a faint smile and signaled Jiang Yisheng with his eyes.

Jiang Yisheng got the hint and stood up, walking towards the entrance.

Outside the door, two figures walked towards them, one after the other, their footsteps growing closer.

"Uncle," said a gentle voice softly.

Old Master Li was taken aback, and upon seeing the leisurely smile on his face, he finally snapped back to reality.

The usually stern face broke into a friendly smile, "Yisheng."

Jiang Yisheng extended his hand in a welcoming gesture, "Uncle, please come inside."

Old Master Li stroked his grizzled beard, feeling a bit uneasy as he walked into the living room.

Tie Shan followed right behind, and during this time, he gave Jiang Yisheng a slight nod as a greeting.

"Mother-in-law," Old Master Li said, looking at Madam Jiang sitting in the middle of the sofa, showing rare respect on his face.

Being of similar age, being called ’mother-in-law’ by him made Madam Jiang feel uneasy all over.

She shifted her gaze away, her tone neither cold nor warm, "Sit down."

Upon hearing this, Old Master Li seemed a bit pleasantly surprised.

This was the first time Madam Jiang had shown him a friendly expression; usually, at their meetings, she almost had him thrown out.

The corners of Old Master Li’s mouth lifted slightly, betraying a touch of silliness.

He sat on the sofa, looking somewhat uneasy.

"Have some tea." Jiang Hai poured a cup of tea and placed it in front of him.

Old Master Li lifted the teacup, and through the cup’s wall, the warmth reached the palm of his hand.

He expressed his thanks and slowly sipped the tea.

Nothing was more anxiety-inducing than a sudden silence, where even breathing felt awkward.

Jiang Hai opened the conversation, "Did you come to Mo Garden to see Ahan?"

They had just arrived in the capital not too long ago; it was unlikely that he had received the news so quickly.

Old Master Li shook his head, placing down the empty teacup, "Mohan called me, saying you had come to the capital and asked me to discuss with you the wedding date between him and Jiuliang."

Talking about Li Mohan’s wedding brought a bit more smiles to everyone’s faces.

"It seems that Ahan is indeed anxious," Jiang Hai teased.

"Although they plan to register their marriage before having the wedding, the date for the ceremony indeed needs to be discussed soon."

Madam Jiang glanced at Old Master Li, her voice calm, "Regarding the dowry, we from the Jiang family have it prepared already."

"I’ve prepared Mohan’s bridal gifts a long time ago," the Li patriarch rushed to say.

He was the only son of him and Qianqian; naturally, he wouldn’t treat him poorly.

Besides, there’s no reason for the bride’s family to provide the bridal gifts; it should rightfully be prepared by the Li Family.

Veya smiled generously, her gentle voice was very comfortable to listen to, "Who gives the bridal gifts doesn’t matter. Since both of our families have prepared them, let’s put them together and give them all to Ahan as the bridal gifts."

"Makes sense, shall we do that?" Jiang Hai asked, looking at the Li patriarch for his answer, waiting for his approval.

The Li patriarch, joyful at the Jiang Family’s noticeably friendlier attitude towards him, naturally had no objections.

"I think this suggestion is good," he said.

The two families reached an agreement, and the conversation that followed was much more amicable.

The topic that dominated the conversation was undoubtedly the wedding date.

"It’s getting late; let’s have dinner together here," Jiang Hai suggested, glancing at the wall clock and inviting the Li patriarch to stay for the meal.

"This..."

The Li patriarch’s eyes brightened with glee, and he was about to agree when he caught sight of Mrs. Jiang out of the corner of his eye and hesitated, fearing she might disapprove.

Jiang Hai, noticing his hesitation, suppressed a knowing smile.

Actually, his brother-in-law was not so annoying after all.

Mrs. Jiang huffed, "Why are you looking at me? Did I say they can’t stay?"

The Li patriarch’s eyes crinkled as he smiled, his facial wrinkles bunching up together.

Jiang Yisheng stifled a smile; it seemed her cousin knew how to handle the situation.

There were still many things to prepare before getting the marriage certificate, and Li Mochan couldn’t stay too long with the K organization.

Before leaving, Wuye caused quite a commotion.

"Li Mochan, boss is about to break my back."

The hoarse voice spilled from his throat.

"Get the hell away from me."

After a moment, the lights in the bedroom came on.

The man’s tall silhouette stood at the bedside, his smooth back covered with several red scratch marks.

Li Mochan reached for his clothes, shaking out a shirt, every move exuding grace.

"Li Mochan, boss isn’t going back, not going back," Ye Jiuliang wrapped in the blanket, lay there pretending to be a corpse, shooting him a sideways glance with her sparkling eyes, and protested in a frenzy.

After straightening his collar, Li Mochan leaned over her, bracing his hands on either side of her, his gaze tender and enticing, "Say it again, and I might consider carrying you back right now."

"I..." Ye Jiuliang bared her teeth.

Bloody hell.

She growled fiercely, her voice husky and without any hint of deterrence, "Just go already."

Li Mochan chuckled silently, his fingertips lightly touching the faint redness at the corner of her eye.

"Aren’t you going to see me off?"

Feeling the touch on her eyelashes, Ye Jiuliang found it ticklish and brushed his hand away, "Nope."

His hand stuck to her cheek again, and Li Mochan lowered his head to plant a kiss on her forehead, "I’m off then, remember to eat on time, and come back early."

Ye Jiuliang blinked, a shimmer of a smile deep in her eyes.

Li Mochan stood up, fetching her clothes and placing them at the foot of the bed before leaving the room.

After the door closed, Ye Jiuliang looked at the clothes placed at the foot of the bed and lifted her hand to her forehead, her fingertips touching where he had just kissed.

Li Mochan, I truly owe you one.

In just two short days, the plot of land that had been bombarded was restored to its original state.
