Chapter 495, got drunk and clung to him (late at night)

~7 min read 1,315 words

Jiang Yisheng cradled his head in one hand, feeling as though the person opposite him wouldn’t stop swaying. He slurred, "The alcohol, tastes good."

"Good alcohol..."

Ye Jiuliang saw Jiang Yisheng drunk for the first time and couldn’t help but laugh.

Veya held her forehead, lamenting her unmanageable son.

"Ahai, help Asheng back to his room to rest."

"Uncle Jiang, let me do it. You continue with your meal." Feng Yi, who was closer, reached out and grabbed Jiang Yisheng’s arm.

"Asheng, you’re drunk. I’ll help you back to your room to rest."

Jiang Yisheng stood up with shaky legs, unstable on his feet.

"I don’t want your help." He shook off his hand, and without support, a wave of dizziness struck him.

He reached for the dining table, the heat on his face spreading to his neck, red as spilled blood.

Feng Yi was covered in metaphorical black lines, "..."

Was this the prelude to a drunken rampage?

"Asheng, stop making a scene. You’re making people laugh," said Veya as she walked over and tried to steady him.

Jiang Yisheng shook his head and brushed away Veya’s hand just the same.

Off to the side, Ji Mingqian, uninvolved, quietly continued to drink and eat, clearly bearing a grudge against Jiang Yisheng’s previous words, still sulking.

Veya, with her hand brushed away, stood with it awkwardly in the air, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

The little rascal, if he really threw a tantrum here, how would he have the face to see anyone tomorrow?

"Asheng, then what will it take for you to go back to your room?"

Jiang Yisheng, unsteady on his feet, turned around, his unfocused gaze sweeping over everyone.

Finally, his eyes landed on the person beside him, still drinking.

An abrupt word popped out, "Him."

Ye Jiuliang and the others, puzzled, all looked toward Ji Mingqian.

What’s going on?

Caught off guard, Ji Mingqian’s eye muscles twitched.

He put down his drink and turned to face Jiang Yisheng, "What are you pointing at me for?"

"You, you said I couldn’t drink. It was you," Jiang Yisheng spoke haltingly, "You... look down on people."

Putting together the meaning of his words, everyone suddenly understood.

So he was upset about his drinking ability being underestimated, and that’s why he drank in defiance.

Ye Jiuliang looked at Ji Mingqian, asking with a teasing smile, "Aqian, what did you say to provoke him, making Asheng drink like this?"

"I’m wronged, I am. His tolerance was always one drink down, I simply stated the truth. Who provoked him?" Ji Mingqian protested, inwardly cursing Jiang Yisheng for being such an ass. He had tried to stop him earlier but clearly, he hadn’t listened.

Ye Jiuliang chuckled lightly, "Alright, he wants you to help him, so just help him back to his room."

"Help me." Jiang Yisheng, unsteady, demanded Ji Mingqian’s assistance.

Ji Mingqian, "..."

He truly owed him something.

Every time he drank and went on a rampage, it ended up being Ji Mingqian’s problem.

Ji Mingqian got to his feet and pulled Jiang Yisheng over.

He muttered softly, "I really owe you, Jiang Yisheng."

This time, Jiang Yisheng finally cooperated and let Ji Mingqian help him back upstairs.

"Come on, everyone, continue with your meal," Jiang Hai called out.

Though Jiang Yisheng was lean, he was still a man with a not-so-small frame; his whole weight leaning on Ji Mingqian’s shoulder made breathing difficult by the time they reached the room.

Ji Mingqian shook off his arm and tossed him onto the bed.

"There you go."

Luckily the mattress was soft, or the fall might have been harsh.

Jiang Yisheng collapsed on the bed, warm all over from the alcohol, finding even his wool sweater too hot to wear.

"So hot."

He tugged at the sweater, drunk and confused, unable to take it off properly.

He propped himself up to sit and grabbed Ji Mingqian’s hand.

He stubbornly chanted, "Open the window, open the window."

Ji Mingqian gave him a sidelong glance, touching his flushed cheek with an annoyed snort.

Just a moment ago he was so haughty, daring to turn his face away from him.

He reached out and pinched his cheek, with a hint of retaliation.

"Jiang Yisheng, do you think I’m someone you can boss around?"

Jiang Yisheng frowned, his green jade-like eyes staring at him, puffing up with anger, "Don’t pinch my face."

"I’ll pinch your face if I want, how about that, who asked you to get drunk and cling to me?" Ji Mingqian saw his angry expression and mischievously didn’t let go.

Even a rabbit bites when it’s pushed, let alone a person.

The blush on his cheeks deepened, whether from anger or not, Jiang Yisheng grabbed Ji Mingqian’s hand, ready to bite.

Having learned his lesson before, Ji Mingqian now had a psychological shadow and quickly withdrew his hand to avoid further injury.

"Jiang Yisheng, why do you always bite people?"

Jiang Yisheng ignored him, staggered to his feet, and walked toward the patio door.

"Don’t wander off, stay put and rest here." Ji Mingqian grabbed him, exerted strength in his wrist, and easily pulled him back.

"When you’re drunk, behave yourself. I’m going to eat, don’t cause trouble, alright?"

"Hot." Jiang Yisheng sulked, his eyes looking at Ji Mingqian with a touch of grievance.

"Open the window."

Ji Mingqian had a headache; he was truly defeated by him.

In such cold weather, sleeping with the window open would lead to a cold tomorrow, and then it would be his fault again.

He glanced at the thick wool sweater on him, "Stand still, don’t move."

The stern voice intimidated Jiang Yisheng, prompting him to put down his flailing hands.

Ji Mingqian smirked with satisfaction and reached out to help him take off the sky-blue wool sweater.

He tossed the sweater casually on the bed, "There, happy now? Can you rest properly?"

Without the wool sweater, only a white T-shirt remained.

A sudden chill hit, and Jiang Yisheng shuddered, his flushed face even turning a hint paler.

He pathetically said, "Cold."

Ji Mingqian, "..."

He really wanted to be rid of this troublemaker.

He’s so indecisively hot and cold, and his demands are endless; couldn’t he just knock him out with a punch to save everyone the trouble?

"If you’re cold, then cover up with a blanket." Ji Mingqian pushed him back onto the bed, pulled over the blanket, and wrapped him up.

A series of actions, without a moment’s pause.

"There, stop nagging and try to sleep."

Ji Mingqian straightened up, about to leave when his wrist was suddenly grabbed.

He let out a soft sigh, looking down at him with a resigned tone at the end of his question, "What now?"

"Stay with me," muttered Jiang Yisheng.

Ji Mingqian doubted his ears, "What?"

The glazed eyes covered in mist, "Stay with me."

Ji Mingqian was mentally disheveled; he must be really drunk, thinking he’s a woman—what nonsense was he spouting?

Wait a second, maybe in his drunken stupor he mistook him for the "girlfriend" he mentioned earlier.

He leaned over, patting his face, "Jiang Yisheng, look carefully. I’m Ji Mingqian, not the girlfriend you’re imagining."

"Stay with me." Jiang Yisheng ignored him, raising his hand to grasp Ji Mingqian’s collar, "You’re not going anywhere."

An excessive pull caused Ji Mingqian to lose his balance and topple onto him.

Ji Mingqian couldn’t help but complain, "Damn it, Jiang Yisheng, try drinking again next time."

Before he could prop himself up, a long leg lay across him, pinning him down, preventing him from leaving.

Ji Mingqian was speechless, as a herd of mental alpacas stampeded through his mind.

He should never have been so kind as to help him up.

"Jiang Yisheng, if you don’t behave, I’m going to punch you," he threatened in a lowered voice, fiercely.
