Chapter 517, can you take me in? (Third watch)
Mo Chen tugged at the corner of his lips, feeling stinging pain wash over his face.
He lifted his head and looked at Mo Su with determined eyes, his tone resolute, "I can also tell you with certainty now, between you and Ye Jiuliang, I choose her."
As the words fell, he dropped the torn-up documents and walked out without looking back.
Mo Su froze, her hand supporting her forehead, her expression chillingly cold and horrifying.
Since he chose Ye Jiuliang, then he couldn’t blame her, his elder sister, for being ruthless toward him.
This was all forced upon her by him.
"Mengzhu, freeze all his bank cards, and throw his luggage out. From today on, he is not allowed to take one step into this place," she ordered.
"This... Miss, Is this really okay?" Mengzhu looked troubled, "If this gets to Madam’s ears, then..."
It’s known that the young master is the apple of Madam’s eye. If something truly happened to the young master, it would be troublesome.
"Do as I say, I’ll explain it to Mother," Mo Su gave her a cold glance, brooking no dissent.
"Also, when Alei returns, tell him that from today on, he doesn’t need to follow Mo Chen anymore. Whatever happens, let Mo Chen deal with it himself."
Seeing she was truly being harsh, Mengzhu dared not speak further, lest she provoke her anger, "Yes."
The young master was really something, insisting on being stubborn against the Miss. What was so good about Ye Jiuliang that he could compare with his own elder sister? Truly childish.
...
As evening neared, a fine drizzle fell.
Pedestrians hunched their shoulders, hurrying home, their faces unable to hide their fatigue.
Having played the entire afternoon at the racecourse, on the way back, sleepiness suddenly overcame Ye Jiuliang. Leaning against the car window, she lazily half-closed her eyes.
Suddenly, she sat up straight, "Mohan, pull over."
Li Mochan slowed the car and glanced at her, "What’s wrong?"
Ye Jiuliang’s eyebrows quirked slightly, "Saw a familiar face."
The black sports car pulled over, and Ye Jiuliang took the umbrella and got out of the car.
The light drizzle wasn’t heavy, but the cold wind was relentless.
Without the warmth of the car, Ye Jiuliang couldn’t help but shiver from the cold.
Suddenly, a black jacket was draped over her shoulders, and the umbrella slid from her hand into the man’s well-defined one.
"Put the jacket on," Li Mochan held the umbrella and freed one hand to help her straighten her collar.
Ye Jiuliang curved her lips, hooking her arm into his, and pulled him forward.
At the convenience store entrance, it was somewhat deserted.
Mo Chen sat on the steps taking shelter from the rain; the downpour had come so suddenly that he hadn’t brought an umbrella, and his coat was soaked through.
He hung his head low, eyes falling on the suitcase at his feet, the tip of his nose slightly sour.
Now, he truly became a wanderer with nowhere to go.
Suddenly, two pairs of shoes appeared in his line of sight, one black and one white.
Before he could lift his head, a cool voice came from above, "Why aren’t you going back in the rain?"
The familiar tone ignited a spark of light in Mo Chen’s eyes, and he abruptly lifted his head to see that handsome face still wearing a roguish smile.
Overwhelmed with surprise, he was momentarily unable to react.
Ye Jiuliang looked down at him from above, noticing the mask on his face and a flicker in her eyes.
Thinking he was hallucinating, Mo Chen pinched his own thigh.
It hurt.
He abruptly stood up, brown eyes brimming with mirth, "Sister."
Ye Jiuliang noticed the suitcase by his feet and raised an eyebrow, "Going on a trip?"
Mo Chen’s eyes once again dimmed. He shook his head and said in a muffled voice, "I have nowhere to go."
His wallet and mobile phone had been confiscated. Apart from a few clothes, he had nothing left.
"Nowhere to go?" Ye Jiuliang expressed surprise, speculating, "Were you kicked out?"
Could it be that Mo Su, having been frustrated at her place today, went back and took out her anger on him?
He guessed right, Mo Chen nodded and cautiously reached out, gently tugging at the sleeve of her coat.
"Sister, can you take me in?"
The tone of Nuonuo was with a hint of pleading and expectation.
Li Mochan watched the hand that was tugging at his wife’s sleeve and warned in a cold voice, "Let go."
Mo Chen shrank his neck and tightened his grip on the sleeve, his knuckles turning white.
Ye Jiuliang held Li Mochan’s hand and looked at Mo Chen with a suspicious gaze, "You didn’t bring any money?"
Mo Chen shook his head once more and said honestly, "My phone and wallet were confiscated."
Even Alei was no longer helping him.
Ye Jiuliang bluntly asked, "Did your sister kick you out?"
Mo Chen hummed gloomily.
The next moment, his stomach rumbled.
Mo Chen’s eyes darted around, slightly embarrassed.
Ye Jiuliang didn’t tease him, but asked indifferently, "You didn’t have lunch?"
Mo Chen shook his head again. He had run out after arguing with Master Extinction and had been thrown out as soon as he got back.
The rain became heavier, and the cold wind whistled into his collar, making Ye Jiuliang’s teeth chatter with cold.
Seeing him looking so pitiable and alone, she softened for once, "Let’s talk in the car."
Hearing Ye Jiuliang agreed to let him follow, Mo Chen quickly nodded, grabbed his suitcase, and hurriedly followed them.
Once inside the car, the warmth of the heater washed over them, and Ye Jiuliang breathed out comfortably.
She turned to glance at the person in the backseat and, noticing the mask on his face, asked casually, "Why do you keep wearing a mask?"
Mo Chen was speechless, "Uh..."
"Not convenient to say?"
"Not exactly."
It didn’t matter anyway, he wouldn’t be able to hide it from her later. Mo Chen raised his hand and removed the mask.
The dim light shone on his face, revealing a stark palm print, shockingly conspicuous.
Ye Jiuliang was stunned, not at all expecting this to be the reason he was wearing a mask.
"Your sister did this?"
Mo Chen nodded.
"Because of me?" Ye Jiuliang asked tentatively.
Mo Chen remained silent, which to Ye Jiuliang, undoubtedly confirmed her guess.
She turned her face away, a flicker of surprise crossing the depths of her eyes.
On the way back to Mo Garden, Mo Chen stayed quietly in the backseat, not daring to speak freely, afraid that Ye Jiuliang would leave him behind.
The fog from the rain filled the air, while Mo Garden was brightly lit.
Jiang Yisheng’s tour had begun; he had packed his bags and flown to City A last night, leaving only the three people with Madam Jiang at home.
"Madam, the meal is ready, we can have dinner now," Mumu announced as she came out of the kitchen in a gentle voice.
Madam Jiang set aside the half-finished little gloves, "Let’s wait a bit longer, Ahan and Xiaojiu should be back soon."
Ever since Li Mochan and Ye Jiuliang had registered their marriage, Madam Jiang had started to prepare things for her great-grandchild, first and foremost, a pair of "great-grandmother" brand little gloves.
"Speak of the devil." Jiang Hai said with a smile upon seeing the figure at the door.
"Grandma." Ye Jiuliang switched to slippers, her smiling eyes endearing her even more to Madam Jiang.
"Xiaojiu is back, wash your hands, it’s time to eat," the elder said.
Ye Jiuliang took off her coat and handed it to Li Mochan, then turned to look at the person still standing outside the door, her face showing helplessness.
"Come in."
Veya and the two others were puzzled, was there a guest?
Under their inquisitive gazes, Mo Chen dragged his suitcase and shambled in.
