Chapter 534, it feels like a fight is about to break out (a meme)

Ye Jiuliang and Gu Xinuo exchanged bewildered glances.

What was happening?

A whiff of gunpowder?

After being snubbed in the private room last time, and now mocked by him once more, even the most good-tempered person would feel indignant.

Jiang Yisheng’s brows furrowed with anger welling up inside him.

His approach was menacing as he clenched and unclenched his fists.

After a moment, he lifted his head, his face still wearing its usual gentle smile, the mist in his eyes concealing all of his emotions.

The serene smile fell into the other person’s deep black pupils.

Their eyes met.

Time seemed to stand still, eerily quiet.

Suddenly, Jiang Yisheng spoke, his voice cool and his tone choking, "If I fell, that’s my own business, what does it have to do with you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the scent of gunpowder grew even thicker.

Ye Jiuliang’s gaze shifted back and forth between the two, inexplicably feeling like they were about to fight.

Having never seen Jiang Yisheng angry, she was also unsure whether he was actually angry now or not.

Suddenly, someone tugged on her arm. Ye Jiuliang turned to see Gu Xinuo’s puzzled look. They communicated with their eyes.

Gu Xinuo asked, "Are they arguing?"

Ye Jiuliang replied, "I’m not sure."

"Should I chime in with some awkward small talk?"

"No need, just watch."

"Isn’t that a bit bad? What if they start fighting?"

"Look at Asheng, how can he fight?"

"Alright then."

Their exchange concluded, Gu Xinuo looked away and turned his gaze back to Ji Mingqian and the other.

Confronted directly and brusquely, Ji Mingqian’s complexion changed slightly, his thin lips pressed tightly in a straight line.

Fuming with anger, he retorted with a laugh, "Indeed, it’s none of my business, it seems you’re not badly hurt." At least, he could still talk back.

Jiang Yisheng remained silent, the smile on his lips becoming more pleasantly indifferent.

Yet, that very smile seemed piercingly bright to Ji Mingqian, irritating him to the extreme.

He should not have come.

To think he had fetched so many good medicines from the pharmacy for him, it was just his own wishful thinking.

On the couch, Li Mochan looked up from his phone and glanced at Ji Mingqian, recognizing the gloomy expression all too well.

Just as the situation seemed on the verge of collapse, Feng Yi made an unexpected visit.

Seeing Ye Jiuliang and the others present, he cracked a smile, "Everyone’s here, it looks like I’m the last to arrive."

He then looked at the person on the hospital bed, "Asheng, you fell not too long ago, why did you fall again?"

Jiang Yisheng’s smile became a touch more genuine, "Maybe I’ve just been unlucky lately."

Feng Yi patted his shoulder, "You’re still joking, so it seems the concussion hasn’t affected you too much; your IQ is still online."

His body covered in bruises, it was quite a painful pat from Feng Yi.

Jiang Yisheng inhaled sharply with a mix of a laugh and a wince, "Yi, are you here to visit me or to finish me off?"

Feng Yi laughed awkwardly, touching his shoulder, "Sorry, I forgot you were still injured."

Across from them, Ji Mingqian watched the two chatting amiably, feeling as though his throat was constricted and he couldn’t breathe.

He turned and left, running straight into Ye Jiuliang, "Aqian, where are you going?"

"To eat," Ji Mingqian said without looking back as he walked out.

Ye Jiuliang moved her gaze to Gu Xinuo, "Haven’t you eaten?"

"I ate on the plane, but Aqian didn’t," Gu Xinuo said.

Hearing this, Ye Jiuliang stepped out.

By the time he reached the corridor and saw the person leaning against the wall smoking, Ye Jiuliang slowed down his pace.

The man had a cigarette between his fingers, the faint halo of smoke drifting into the air, blurring the expression between his brows.

Hearing approaching footsteps, Ji Mingqian looked uninterested.

"Weren’t you going to eat? Why did you come here to smoke?" His cool voice carried a hint of amusement as it pierced into his ears.

Ji Mingqian blew out a breath of white smoke, lifting his eyelids, "What, are you going to treat me to a meal?"

Ye Jiuliang clucked his tongue, sizing him up with interest, "You’re speaking weirdly today, there’s something off about you."

"Thinking of taking up fortune telling?" Ji Mingqian sneered, "If you’ve got nothing better to do, go find your man Li Mochan to hang out with."

"Did you and Asheng have a fight?"

"Who had a fight with him? I’m not even close to him," he retorted immediately.

Seeing Ji Mingqian’s tail-stepped expression, Ye Jiuliang felt even more that something was wrong with him, "I haven’t even said anything, why are you so worked up?"

"When did I get worked up." Ji Mingqian rolled his eyes, pinched out the cigarette, flicked his finger, and the butt landed squarely in the trash can.

His gaze drifted to the man approaching to find someone, his tone full of disdain, "Your Li Mochan is looking for you, go to him."

Ye Jiuliang turned back and saw the figure of that person leisurely walking towards him, a slight curve forming on his lips.

Turning back around, Ji Mingqian had already walked away.

"This guy," Ye Jiuliang muttered under his breath.

Suddenly, an arm was slung over his shoulder, and a crisp voice sounded in his ear, "What are you doing here?"

"I felt like Aqian and Asheng had an argument, came out to check." Ye Jiuliang looked up, "Why did you come out too?"

Li Mochan let out a soft laugh, "Afraid you’d get lost."

"..."

She wasn’t a three-year-old child, how could she possibly get lost.

Mo Garden.

After finishing her call with Jiang Yisheng, Madame Jiang finally felt somewhat relieved.

With nothing better to do, the old lady suddenly felt the urge to go to the supermarket with Aju to buy groceries.

"Madam, why don’t I go myself, and you stay home, listen to music, and have some tea?" Aju suggested.

By her side, Madame Jiang was already dressed, "It’s alright, I still have the strength to stroll around the supermarket and buy some groceries, it won’t be a problem."

"Grandma Jiang, are you going out?" Mo Chen emerged from his room and saw them at the door, curiously asking.

Madame Jiang replied, "We’re going to the supermarket to buy groceries."

Hearing this, Mo Chen became interested, his eyes shining as he looked at the old lady, "May I join you?"

Madame Jiang’s smile was kind, "Sure, let’s go together."

A moment later, the three of them left together.

This being his first time grocery shopping at a supermarket, Mo Chen found everything fascinating.

He pushed the cart, following beside Madame Jiang, his bright eyes surveying the food on the shelves.

Seeing his eager expression, Madame Jiang couldn’t help but want to laugh, "Mo Chen, take whatever you want to eat, Aju will cook it for you tonight."

Mo Chen licked his lips, "I want to eat beef."

"Alright, we’ll have it for dinner," Madame Jiang nodded cheerfully.

After finishing with the fresh food section, they moved on to the snacks aisle.

"Aju, pick out a bit more, for Xiaojiu and the others when they come back," Madame Jiang instructed.

Mo Chen carefully noticed that Madame Jiang occasionally rubbed her legs, and he asked softly, "Grandma Jiang, are you tired? Do you want to sit down over there for a while?"

Having walked for a while, she was indeed a bit weary, Madame Jiang nodded slightly, and Mo Chen helped her to the rest area.

Sitting on a bench, Madame Jiang watched the children running about and a tinge of envy flashed in her eyes.

When would her family have a great-grandchild?

Through the glass door, Mo Chen caught a glimpse of a figure in the distance, with eyes as cold as ice, not a hint of warmth in them.
