Chapter 537, you called me stupid (first update)
"I..." Ji Mingqian faltered.
It seemed that he was indeed the first to give him the cold shoulder.
No, no, that wasn’t right, it was clearly after he got drunk...
With that thought, his expression darkened again.
Across from him, Jiang Yisheng, seeing the constantly changing expressions on his face, was also thoroughly confused by him.
Ji Mingqian retorted self-righteously, "What was wrong with my attitude?"
He knew his alcohol tolerance was poor, yet he stubbornly drank, and after drinking, he caused trouble for him.
It was his fault.
Now bewildered by the yelling, Jiang Yisheng became irritated, a sneer curling at the corner of his mouth, "You call this a good attitude now?"
He shifted his stance, adopting a more comfortable position, and continued, "Ji Mingqian, do you realize that ’bad temper’ is written all over you right now?"
Bad temper?
Ji Mingqian’s face darkened, and he was on the verge of exploding.
He got drunk and caused him trouble, and now he’s saying he has a bad temper?
Ha, is there no justice left in the world?
Should he now repay exactly what he did to him, so he could experience the mental trauma he had endured then? Ji Mingqian thought maliciously.
His gaze bore down heavily on him, his tone unfriendly, "Jiang Yisheng, you dare to say I have a bad temper?"
Jiang Yisheng sneered coldly, the frustration in his heart finally bursting out all at once.
"Isn’t that the reality?"
"Nonsense."
So much for rationality.
The veins on Ji Mingqian’s neck bulged as his face grew colder.
His anger flaring up, Ji Mingqian took off his jacket and tossed it onto the sofa.
He rolled up his sleeves, revealing a segment of his toned forearm, ready to get into a fight.
"Jiang Yisheng, let’s settle this once and for all today, who really has the worse temper."
Jiang Yisheng watched him with an indifferent expression, his contemptuous gaze undoubtedly provoking Ji Mingqian.
"You play games so poorly, and I’ve been so patient teaching you. Others probably would have cried at your stupidity, yet I, being so patient, you say I have a bad temper?" he said growing more agitated as he spoke.
He came to realize that Jiang Yisheng, that damned guy, could easily ignite his anger.
Hearing him repeatedly calling him stupid was downright intolerable.
Jiang Yisheng let out a cold laugh, laced with scorn, "Did I ask you to teach me?"
That light statement seemed to choke Ji Mingqian.
"..."
He’d never realized this guy was so sharp-tongued before.
His anger momentarily subsided, Ji Mingqian stubbornly retorted, "When you were injured, wasn’t I there to visit you every time?"
That point made Jiang Yisheng even angrier, his voice turning icy, "Who visits a sick person and starts with personal attacks?"
"When did I personally attack you?" Ji Mingqian flatly denied.
"You called me stupid," Jiang Yisheng roared back, finally feeling vindicated.
The atmosphere was tense, an odd humor lurking within the quiet.
Ji Mingqian, "..."
He might have said he was stupid, but that wasn’t really an insult, was it?
Was he that sensitive?
His silence, in Jiang Yisheng’s eyes, was admission, and he mocked with a laugh, "See, you admit it, don’t you?"
Both were hot-headed, and Ji Mingqian spoke without thinking in response to his provocation, "You are indeed foolish, falling once and then again, if that’s not stupidity, what is it?"
At his words, Jiang Yisheng exploded in anger, his face as dark as ink, "Get out."
Damn it.
Really thinks he can be pushed around, huh.
Ji Mingqian crossed his arms and smirked smugly, "I’m not going anywhere. Jiang Yisheng, if you can’t win an argument you try to send people away, that’s really bad form."
Jiang Yisheng was so angry that his face turned red, and he picked up a throw pillow and threw it at him, "Ji Mingqian, get out."
Dodging to the side with ease, Ji Mingqian sauntered over, "If you want me to leave, apologize to me and I’ll go."
He should apologize to him?
What a joke.
Jiang Yisheng clenched his teeth, wishing he could smash his face with a punch.
"I’ll say it again, get out."
Stopping in his tracks and using his height to his advantage, Ji Mingqian looked down at him, "Then I’ll answer you again, I’m not leaving."
Jiang Yisheng glanced at him coldly and dragged his feet toward the door.
Ji Mingqian paused, then realizing, reached out to grab him, "Hey, where are you going?"
"Hiss—"
The overly strong grip hurt his injured arm, causing Jiang Yisheng’s face to turn pale, his expression slightly twisted.
Realizing he had grabbed his injured arm, Ji Mingqian sheepishly withdrew his hand, "Sorry, I didn’t mean to."
"Get out," Jiang Yisheng said coldly.
Ji Mingqian, looking at his pale face, felt his anger fade away.
Forget it, he’s already hurt like this. If he kept arguing it would seem like he was bullying him.
It was just a minor accident while drunk, he was overthinking it.
He knew that after getting drunk, he wouldn’t remember anything the next day. Let it be, let’s turn the page on this incident.
Ji Mingqian sighed softly, turned around, went back to the sofa, picked up a paper bag from the table, and then came back.
Jiang Yisheng, clutching his arm, couldn’t distract himself from the soreness.
"Here," came a magnetic voice from across, tinged with a hint of awkwardness.
Raising his head, Jiang Yisheng saw the paper bag in front of him, with its brownish bamboo sticks and bright red candied fruits.
It was the sugar-coated haws he had mentioned not long ago.
His heart was sharply poked, and Jiang Yisheng stood there stunned, a mix of emotions brewing within.
After a long while, he turned his head away, his voice hoarse, "I don’t want it."
"You don’t want it?" Ji Mingqian laughed in frustration, "Jiang Yisheng, weren’t you just saying you wanted sugar-coated haws, and now you’re saying you don’t want them?"
Jiang Yisheng didn’t speak, his gaze flitting around, avoiding looking at him.
"For these sugar-coated haws, do you know how many places I ran to? And now you tell me you don’t want them, are you playing me?" Ji Mingqian said frantically.
Jiang Yisheng snorted coldly, and said faintly, "I didn’t ask you to buy them."
"..."
So he was being presumptuous?
Ji Mingqian silently clenched his teeth, his hand gripping the paper bag tightly.
He asked with a grim face, "Do you want them or not?"
"I don’t," he retorted, stubborn as ever.
Ji Mingqian got annoyed, shoved the paper bag into his uninjured hand, "I went to a lot of trouble to buy these, you’re not allowed to refuse them."
For a moment, both of them became childish ghosts, indistinguishable from kids squabbling.
"I said I don’t want it, why force it on me?" Jiang Yisheng frowned, but his tone was somewhat gentler.
Ji Mingqian changed the subject, "Take the sugar-coated haws, can we talk properly now?"
What does he mean, ’take it’? It was clearly forced on him. Jiang Yisheng glanced at him coolly, and cuttingly said, "You were the one who didn’t talk properly first."
"..."
After a few seconds of silence, Ji Mingqian softened again, "I apologize, okay?"
Jiang Yisheng’s lips curved in a barely visible smile, and he cleared his throat, "Weren’t you supposed to fly back to Country Y tonight? Why didn’t you leave?"
