Chapter 556, accidentally sprained an ankle (before dawn)
Jiang Yisheng came downstairs after his bath, only to find everyone gathered in the living room, their faces showing surprise.
It was nearly ten o’clock, on any normal day his grandmother would have retired to her room by now, yet there she was, still sitting there.
As he adjusted his sleeves, he walked over, "Grandma, why are you still drinking tea? Be careful or you might have trouble sleeping tonight."
"It’s fine, I’m so happy tonight that even if I can’t sleep, it’s okay," Mrs. Jiang said, her smile so wide she could barely close her mouth, dispelling her previous worries.
Jiang Yisheng was puzzled, "What’s there to be so happy about?"
"Xiaojiu just called to say that Ahan woke up, and they are on their way back," Veya explained softly as she came out of the kitchen.
"Cousin woke up?" Jiang Yisheng exclaimed with joy, "That’s really great news."
Could it be that he was stimulated into waking up by what Ji Mingqian said?
Veya said, "They haven’t had dinner yet, so Jiuma and I prepared some food. If anyone is hungry, let’s eat together as a late-night snack."
Just then, the sound of a car engine came from outside.
Everyone instinctively looked towards the door.
Mo Chen, in particular, ran to the door and peered out eagerly.
Underneath the dim streetlights, three figures walked slowly towards the house.
Seeing Ye Jiuliang return, Mo Chen broke into a beaming smile.
He jogged out and stepped down the porch, "Sister."
Stopping in his tracks, his eyes shone with the bright look of a child who had long awaited the return of a loved one.
Ye Jiuliang smiled, her gaze inadvertently catching sight of the bandaged wrist he was hiding.
"What happened to your hand?"
"Just a little sprain," Mo Chen said rather sheepishly, hiding his hand behind him, "It’s nothing serious, it will heal with a couple of days’ dressing."
Ye Jiuliang was somewhat skeptical, remembering that Ji Mingqian had mentioned Mo Su’s visit to Mo Garden that afternoon, giving her an idea of what might have happened.
She patted his shoulder, "It’s chilly outside, let’s talk inside."
Mo Chen smiled, his gaze shifting to Li Mochan, and he greeted him respectfully, "Brother-in-law."
Li Mochan gave him a glance and grunted softly, unusually void of his usual "fierce" demeanor.
As the group entered the living room, Jiang Yisheng caught sight of the last person to come in and surprise flickered in his eyes.
Why had he come along?
"Grandma, Uncle, Auntie," Li Mochan greeted each person in the living room.
"It’s good that you’re awake," Mrs. Jiang sighed with relief as she saw her grandson return safe and sound.
Li Mochan’s normally icy voice softened a bit, "Sorry, Grandma, for worrying you all."
Mrs. Jiang patted his arm, her wrinkled face twisting into a big smile, "As long as you are alright, that’s what matters."
Jiang Yisheng scrutinized Li Mochan carefully, noticing something different in his tone.
After his memory loss, he seemed somewhat alienated from them, but now he seemed as if...
He ventured a question, "Cousin, have you recovered your memory?"
At his words, everyone froze, then turned to look at Li Mochan with hopeful eyes.
Li Mochan nodded slightly.
There was a second of silence before a cheer erupted.
"Really? Mohan, have you really regained your memory?" Mrs. Jiang asked excitedly.
Li Mochan hummed affirmatively, "It’s true."
Mrs. Jiang couldn’t stop smiling, her excitement was beyond control, "That’s wonderful, such a blessing from heaven."
Veya’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she called out, "You haven’t had dinner yet, right? Come on, the food is ready, let’s eat while it’s hot."
