Chapter 271: The Raikage's Second Loss
Ninja Academy Teacher, I Get Stronger by Teaching Volume 1 Chapter 188: The Raikage's Second Loss "Rin, take the client back a bit; Kakashi and I will hold them off." Seeing the Cloud ninja rushing toward them, Obito said quickly.
Rin Nohara was the weakest among them, so Obito subconsciously assigned her a safer job.
Rin Nohara looked at Kakashi, who nodded. They couldn't just focus on fighting and ignore the client. Letting the weakest, Rin Nohara, watch the client while providing support was the best choice for now.
With their opinions unified, Rin Nohara led the slightly frightened client back a distance while gathering chakra, ready to support at any time.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
Obito rapidly formed hand signs, gathered chakra in his throat, performed fire-nature chakra transformation, and expelled a large amount of flame to form a three-meter fireball, hurling it at the approaching Cloud ninja.
Although the Great Fireball had many drawbacks, its low consumption and great power made it a perfect opening technique. When the enemy's abilities were unknown, using the Great Fireball as a probing attack was best.
Swish! Swish! Swish!!
Kakashi threw out a large number of shuriken, intending to use the weapons to disrupt them and make their dodging less easy.
The four did not try to withstand it; instead, they scattered, each using the Body Flicker Technique to dodge the Great Fireball's attack, drew their weapons to block Kakashi's shuriken, and then continued forward.
"With movements like that, they're all strong." Kakashi exhaled, feeling the pressure.
Although he didn't have the Appraisal Technique to see through the enemy's chakra and jutsu directly, from their reaction to the attack, Kakashi knew these people were no pushovers; none of them were genin.
But this was within Kakashi's expectations, after all, it was a team led by the candidate Raikage.
Last time they encountered the candidate Raikage, just two Cloud ninja had pushed them to the brink. If not for Might Guy and Obito both breaking through their limits, he might not have lasted until he understood his own heart.
Griping the White Light Chakra Saber in his hand, Kakashi thought about countermeasures in his mind.
If his teammate were Might Guy, he would have Obito suppress with firepower and then charge together with Guy.
But now his teammate was Rin Nohara. Rin obviously didn't have the suppressing power that Guy had to steadily and quickly eliminate enemies. The power of the Strength of a Hundred Seal was impressive, but it had to hit the opponent.
"Let's see their strength first. If there are no jonin among them, then there's no problem." The enemies drew closer, and Kakashi decided to probe first.
"Lightning Breathing: Total Concentration!"
Kakashi inhaled a large amount of oxygen to enhance his physical abilities, gathered chakra in his lower body, and quickly performed nature transformation to activate the cells in his legs.
Then Kakashi rushed straight at the leader-like Mothomu. If the leader wasn't a jonin, then the others certainly wouldn't be either.
Clang!
Kakashi's White Light Chakra Saber clashed with Mothomu's longsword, producing a loud metallic impact sound.
"Your speed is decent, but unfortunately it's still not enough before my perception." Mothomu burst out with power, pushing Kakashi back, then gathered a large amount of chakra in his hand, turning his longsword into a lightning sword and thrusting it at Kakashi.
Although he was a sensory-type ninja, his strength was that of a solid jonin, just not outstanding among jonin.
At that moment, a flaming kunai stabbed toward him, forcing Mothomu to abandon his attack and dodge the flame kunai.
Kakashi used the high speed of Lightning Breathing to return to Obito's side, speaking seriously.
"That leading Cloud ninja should be a jonin. The other three Cloud ninja might be three chunin, but there could also be another jonin."
Hearing Kakashi's speculation, Obito felt a headache. He had experienced the strength of a Cloud jonin before. With his two-tomoe Sharingan and Might Guy opening the Second Gate of the Eight Gates, they had fought with extreme difficulty.
Having a jonin was bad enough—he and Kakashi together couldn't kill one but could stalemate it; but if there were three more chunin on top of that, they couldn't handle it. They couldn't let Rin Nohara take on those three chunin alone; that obviously wouldn't work.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
Obito desperately used the Great Fireball to prevent the enemy from approaching, continuously retreating.
"There's too much of a gap in combat strength." Kakashi frantically searched for a solution to the current predicament in his mind.
When he remembered the Flying Thunder God kunai in his tool pouch and Minato, who was currently in a game of strategy with the Raikage candidate, Kakashi thought of the only way to solve the problem.
Although relying on others wasn't good, the only way Kakashi could think of to solve this predicament was Minato.
Just then, Kakashi saw Minato looking their way. Minato had been waiting for an opportunity. Their eyes met, and Kakashi decided to trust Minato.
Kakashi directly took out the Flying Thunder God kunai and threw it at Mothomu.
Since it was a kunai thrown from Kakashi's hand, Mothomu didn't pay much attention and didn't notice the Flying Thunder God seal on it. He sidestepped to dodge and prepared to continue charging forward.
Whoosh!
Minato used Flying Thunder God to appear behind Mothomu, stabbed the Flying Thunder God kunai into Mothomu's body, then grabbed Mothomu, left a Flying Thunder God mark on him, and threw him toward the Fourth Raikage.
The Fourth Raikage A didn't expect Kakashi to still have a Flying Thunder God Kunai on him. He stared cautiously at Minato, quickly caught Moto, pulled out the Flying Thunder God Kunai and discarded it, then let the Kumogakure ninja treat his wounds.
For the Fourth Raikage A, there were two people in his unit he cared about deeply. The first was Killer Bee, who, though not a blood brother, was better than a blood brother. The second was Moto, a very rare sensory talent, and extremely loyal to him.
If others died, the Fourth Raikage A would feel regret and sadness, but if Moto died, it wouldn't be just a simple regret — he would be extremely angry.
"Don't keep acting. Stay quietly by Bee's side," the Fourth Raikage A said sternly.
"Yes sir!" Moto accepted the Fourth Raikage A's goodwill.
Having heavily wounded Moto with one strike, Minato shifted his focus back to the Fourth Raikage A, preventing him from using his extreme speed to surprise attack Obito and the others.
Seeing Minato take away a jonin, Kakashi instantly felt relieved in his heart, picked up his White Fang Short Blade, and burst into speed as he slashed toward the nearest Kumogakure ninja.
"Flame Breathing, Total Concentration Breathing!"
In this crisis, Obito couldn't care about much else. He directly activated his Two-Tomoe Sharingan and entered the Total Concentration Breathing state of Flame Breathing, pushing his strength to the peak he could currently reach. Holding a kunai, he single-handedly held back two Kumogakure ninja.
"Sharingan!" Seeing Obito's eyes turn blood-red, the two Kumogakure instantly recognized it as the Kekkei Genkai of the Uchiha clan of Konoha, so they gave up on attacking Rin Nohara and teamed up to deal with Obito together.
Obito was grateful at that moment that Muyue had given them special dodge training. With the powerful observation ability of his Sharingan and excellent footwork, even two Kumogakure ninja using Ninja Body Art together couldn't touch the hem of his clothes.
However, Obito didn't have a good opportunity to attack either; the saying "two fists can't defeat four hands" was indeed correct. Outnumbered two to one, Obito could only maintain the upper hand but couldn't quickly defeat either enemy.
But Obito was not anxious, because Kakashi only had one enemy. Once Kakashi dealt with that opponent and came to help him, the two Kumogakure ninja wouldn't last a few moves.
Before Kakashi could finish off his enemy and come to help Obito, Rin Nohara saw that the surrounding environment was temporarily safe, so she ran toward the surrounded Obito.
Both Obito and the Kumogakure ninja noticed Rin Nohara's arrival at the same time.
"This Uchiha is not easy to deal with. You hold him off; I'll capture his companion to threaten him," one of the Kumogakure ninja said decisively.
He thought Rin Nohara's strength must be very weak; if she could have helped with ninjutsu earlier, why would she have been watching all this time?
Without waiting for his companion's reply, the Kumogakure ninja dashed straight out.
Although the other Kumogakure ninja was cursing internally with Kumogakure profanity, he also knew that only this way could they have a chance of victory; if they fought normally, their defeat was just a matter of time.
Watching the Kumogakure ninja charge straight at Rin Nohara, Obito realized that this Kumogakure ninja was definitely underestimating the enemy. So he only spared a sidelong glance to observe that situation and focused on dealing with the remaining Kumogakure ninja.
Originally at a disadvantage two against one, now one against one, the remaining Kumogakure ninja instantly gained several bloody wounds on his body.
"Hold on!" Silently cheering for his teammate in his heart, the departing Kumogakure ninja punched toward Rin Nohara's head, trying to knock her out.
"Monster Strength Fist!"
Rin Nohara concentrated a large amount of chakra on her arm and then burst it out, swinging her slender fist to meet the Kumogakure ninja's fist.
Since it was her first real practical battle, Rin Nohara was worried the power would be insufficient, so she directly used half of her chakra on this punch.
Looking at Rin Nohara's fair and slender arm, the Kumogakure ninja was extremely scornful inside. A little girl with thighs not as thick as his arms thought she could compare with him, a ninja who trained in taijutsu for a long time?
Bang!
A figure flew backward at high speed, smashing heavily into a tree, breaking it.
Watching his teammate fly backward, the Kumogakure ninja fighting Obito was dumbfounded. "Is this how you capture someone?"
His teammate was dumbfounded, but the Kumogakure ninja who was knocked flying was even more bewildered. He couldn't believe that his strength had lost to a little girl with seemingly thin arms and legs.
But the sharp pain and blood from his palm reminded him that this was reality. He couldn't even move a finger; he felt as if all the bones in his hand were broken.
Bang!
Seizing this opportunity, Obito used a Leaf Whirlwind to kick the remaining Kumogakure ninja flying.
The Kumogakure ninja on Kakashi's side already had several exaggerated wounds gushing blood, in terrible condition.
Just as the Fourth Raikage A continued his attack on Minato, Minato used the Flying Thunder God again.
The Fourth Raikage A looked around rapidly; he had already memorized all the locations and could use his extreme speed to attack Minato at any time.
But once again, something unexpected happened. This time Minato appeared directly beside Killer Bee, aiming a kunai at Killer Bee's head.
"There should be no kunai engraved with the technique formula there," the Fourth Raikage A's expression turned extremely ugly.
"Could it be that he can also engrave that technique formula on people?" The Fourth Raikage A thought of Moto, who was injured by Minato, and instantly considered a possibility in his mind.
The Flying Thunder God Kunai that was embedded in Moto had already been pulled out by him, and there, only Moto and Minato had direct contact.
Kirābi had extremely fast reaction speed and decisive action. Almost instantly, he pointed his blade behind him.
Unlike A, who had been attacking earlier, Kirābi had been in a state of readiness, and his reflexive reaction gave him a chance to counterattack.
"If you want a mutual destruction, come on. I'm not afraid." Kirābi said calmly without turning his head.
Though young, Kirābi deeply understood the cruelty of shinobi, and he believed his big brother would avenge him. By then, the injured Minato Namikaze would be no match for his brother.
"Although you're an opponent, I admire you. Your reaction and decisiveness qualify you as a shinobi killer." Minato praised.
From seeing through the Flying Thunder God technique at the start, to reacting to his attack with extreme reflexes now, Minato believed Kirābi would surely have a place in the future shinobi world.
"How about everyone stop and each take a step back? We have no conflict in missions, nor are we fighting on a battlefield." Minato then spoke.
He did not intend to kill Kirābi, because that would drive the Fourth Raikage into a furious rage. The Fourth Raikage was far too strong; if he suddenly attacked Obito and the others, Minato would have a hard time protecting them.
Previously, he hadn't killed Motemu but instead severely wounded him and threw him back, partly to prepare for the next attack and partly to avoid burning bridges during future negotiations.
He was optimistic about Kirābi's future, as well as Obito and Kakashi's. Once they all truly grew, who would be stronger was still uncertain.
The Fourth Raikage thought for a moment and also called for a halt to the battle, letting the three Kumogakure shinobi support each other back and cease attacking.
Kirābi was willing to trade his life for injuring Minato Namikaze, but the Fourth Raikage did not want his dear brother to die like that. Even if he could later kill the wounded Minato, he wouldn't accept it.
Minato's and the Fourth Raikage's words seemed to hit a pause button. The enemies stopped attacking, and Minato's side also spoke up. Obito and the other two halted and stood together to protect the client.
"Minato Namikaze, I'll remember you. You're not bad." The Fourth Raikage said in a deep voice.
Before encountering Minato Namikaze, aside from once being at a disadvantage against that Kirigakure shinobi who also used Lightning Release Chakra Mode, he had never been bested by any other shinobi. This was the second time.
"I won't forget you either." Minato said seriously.
He had a feeling that this would not be their last battle.
Kumogakure and Konoha were at war. With their strength, they might cross paths again during a major conflict.
In the end, the two sides went their separate ways. The Fourth Raikage took his subordinates to find a place to heal, while Minato and the others continued their escort mission.
Because of this encounter, as soon as the mission was completed, Minato quickly led Obito and the others back to the Land of Fire to avoid encountering such a dangerous situation again.
Wanted to finish it all in one go, so it's a bit late. Going to sleep now. Goodnight, everyone.
