Chapter 272: Teacher Chen and Muyue
After returning to Konoha, Minato told the three of them about the next arrangement: "For the next four days, you should rest well. No training, no missions."
Minato felt that this mission was too dangerous for Obito and the others—they had just become official ninjas and encountered such a powerful enemy, experiencing this level of battle.
If it weren't for the fact that Obito and the others had only recently joined the team, Minato would have wanted to give them a whole week off to rest and adjust.
"Resting for such a long time?" Obito scratched his head, feeling this vacation was a bit too long.
Taking four consecutive days off felt strange to him, because after finishing a mission, Mu Yue usually rested the same day and resumed training the next. Sometimes, if he was especially tired, he might take an extra day or two, but basically, he had never taken four days off in a row.
"That's pretty normal, since we encountered that kind of enemy." Kakashi didn't think resting for four days was a big deal.
Back when he was in other squads, after completing a C-rank or higher out-of-village mission, he would usually rest for a few days.
However, Kakashi felt it didn't matter whether he rested a few days or not. If every instructor were like Mu Yue, he thought it would be fine even without extra days off.
Although Mu Yue's pace was relatively intensive, he didn't force his students to train; in fact, the students voluntarily went to train even during holidays.
"Anyway, just rest well for the next few days. Don't worry about the mission—I'll report it right away." Minato said with a gentle smile.
The new AB combination appeared in the Land of Hot Water. Minato had to report this news to Hiruzen Sarutobi.
This was a bad signal for Konoha, indicating that Kumogakure might gather forces from the Land of Hot Water to strike the Land of Fire's border.
"Then good-bye, Minato-sensei." Obito smiled and waved goodbye.
"Good-bye, Minato-sensei." Kakashi also said farewell.
"Minato-sensei, remember to rest well too." Rin smiled and said with concern.
At first, due to previous impressions, Obito and Kakashi had always called Minato "senpai" or "captain," but during this mission, they got to know Minato anew, felt his care for them, and realized the shift in their relationship, so they started calling him "sensei."
"I will." Minato smiled and waved goodbye, then walked toward the Hokage Building.
"A four-day holiday... I almost don't know what to do these four days. Rin, what are you planning?" Obito asked Rin curiously.
"Today and tomorrow, I'll probably rest and look at some medical ninjutsu materials. The day after tomorrow, I might go to Mu Yue-sensei and ask him some training questions. According to the schedule, the ninja academy will start soon, so Mu Yue-sensei might not have as much free time in the future." Rin thought for a moment and answered.
Obito's eyes lit up. He felt Rin made a lot of sense, but he didn't plan to wait until the day after tomorrow to see Mu Yue; instead, he intended to go to the South Border Forest to train tomorrow.
This wasn't his first time encountering a candidate for the Raikage, and Minato had protected them well, so Obito didn't feel tired, neither physically nor mentally.
"If I go train with Mu Yue-sensei these four days, Kakashi will never be able to catch up to me," Obito thought.
He was destined to lose to Kakashi in theory, but he didn't want his practical strength to be overtaken by Kakashi either.
"What about you, Obito? You're not planning to sleep at home for four days, are you?" Rin teased.
"Sleeping for four days is a bit too much. Training, of course I'll train." Obito didn't reveal his specific training plan, answering vaguely.
"What about you, Kakashi?" Obito looked at Kakashi and asked.
"Train." Kakashi answered succinctly.
Kakashi's desire to become stronger was really great right now. He wanted to surpass Obito, Might Guy, and even Shisui, defeating them in actual combat.
Rin's words reminded Kakashi. Since they were on break and Mu Yue was free at this time, training at Mu Yue's place for these four days was absolutely perfect.
Seeing Kakashi acting like a training maniac, Obito changed his mind—he wouldn't rest today. He would go home first and then head straight to the South Border Forest to train.
If Kakashi worked hard training for a day while he rested, the gap would be narrowed.
After reaching the intersection, the three of them split up, each going home.
After becoming Might Guy's instructor, Teacher Chen finally understood why Might Guy possessed such a powerful body at his age.
Toward other disciples, Teacher Chen would always scold them for not training enough, leading to poor strength, and tell them to train more.
But after seeing Might Guy's training, instead he advised Might Guy not to overexert himself, as it would damage his body.
Because by Teacher Chen's somewhat strict standards, Might Guy's training volume had already far exceeded the limit.
"Haha, don't worry, Teacher Chen. I've always trained like this. Mu Yue-sensei helped me adjust it, so there's no problem." Might Guy laughed and explained.
"Mu Yue-sensei? Who is that? This kind of intensity might be fine when young, but problems will appear in middle age." Teacher Chen said seriously.
He was worried that Might Guy had encountered someone who pretended to know but didn't and was being deceived.
"Teacher Muyue's full name is Hanyu Muyue. In my eyes, he is a ninja whose taijutsu is not inferior to yours." Might Guy said proudly.
Although Ebisu said Teacher Chen is the best in taijutsu in Konoha, Might Guy felt that if Muyue used both the Eight Gates and the Breath Art Blaze Pattern at the same time, Teacher Chen definitely could not beat Muyue.
Of course, because Muyue asked him to, Might Guy did not exaggerate too much; he only said he thought Muyue was not inferior to Teacher Chen.
"Hanyu Muyue? The Hanyu Muyue featured in the Konoha News a while ago?" Having read the newspaper, Teacher Chen had a slight impression of the name.
"Yeah, that time Teacher Muyue took us on a supply mission that went wrong. We happened to encounter a large-scale ambush launched by Iwa on the battlefield, and then Teacher Muyue led us to support the battlefield." Might Guy nodded and said.
Upon hearing this, Teacher Chen could basically rule out the suspicion that Muyue was an impostor. After all, he was a ninja who contributed to fighting a Jinchuriki; with that kind of skill, it was unlikely.
"How about this: find a time to talk to Hanyu Muyue and tell him I'd like to have a chat with him." Teacher Chen thought for a moment and said.
He saw that Might Guy's face was full of respect when talking about Muyue. So if he wanted to solve the problem quickly, he definitely had to find Muyue.
Teacher Chen was also a bit curious about Muyue's taijutsu level, that he could make Might Guy say such things.
"Then I'll go ask Teacher Muyue after training." Might Guy nodded and agreed.
After talking with Might Guy, Teacher Chen reminded Might Guy to rest a bit more before starting training.
So Might Guy walked toward a big tree, where Shiranui Genma and Ebisu were also cooling off and resting.
"What did Teacher Chen talk to you about? I saw his expression was very serious." Shiranui Genma asked with a curious look, lowering his voice.
Upon hearing Shiranui Genma's question, Ebisu also looked at Might Guy; he was also quite curious.
"Nothing much. He was just worried I might overwork myself and told me to reduce training and rest more." Might Guy answered honestly.
Shiranui Genma's mouth twitched, feeling the disparity of the world.
Not long ago, he had just been scolded by Teacher Chen for not training seriously enough. To motivate him, Teacher Chen even demonstrated his thirty years of power on the spot, kicking a large rock to pieces.
"But Teacher Chen does have a point, Kai. Your training volume is indeed a bit excessive; even hearing about it sounds exhausting." Shiranui Genma said with a look of agreement.
Now he no longer asked why Might Guy's taijutsu was so strong, because he had personally seen Might Guy constantly performing all kinds of extreme training.
As Teacher Chen's disciple, taijutsu training was naturally indispensable. After all, although Teacher Chen knew ninjutsu, taijutsu was his forte.
But Shiranui Genma felt that Might Guy's training wasn't even training anymore—it had reached a level of self-abuse. Just hearing about it, he could already imagine how exhausting it was.
Shiranui Genma felt that if he were to do it himself, he would probably be exhausted before he could even finish.
"It's fine. I don't really feel it. I've always trained this way. If my talent can't match those geniuses, then I need to work harder to become a hardworking genius!" Might Guy said with a bright smile and a thumbs up.
"Hardworking genius…" Ebisu muttered to himself and found it really fitting to describe Might Guy.
If hard work could also be considered a talent, then Might Guy was definitely a top-tier genius among them—that was what Ebisu thought.
Earlier, he didn't understand how Might Guy, a student who wasn't from a ninja clan and didn't have a powerful ninja father, had become so strong. After training with Might Guy for a few days, Ebisu had the answer in his mind.
"If I had worked this hard back in the academy, could I have defeated Uchiha Obito too?" An uncontrollable thought appeared in Ebisu's mind.
Unfortunately, he would never know the answer, because they had already graduated and were now official genin.
But fortunately, Ebisu had discovered a new path through Might Guy: if one worked hard enough and kept at it, there would be a day of success.
"Kai, I admire you the most. Among our class, you will definitely be the strongest in the future." Shiranui Genma patted Might Guy on the shoulder and laughed.
Since Might Guy had used powerful taijutsu that he hadn't shown during the exam, Shiranui Genma believed that Might Guy was now far ahead of Obito.
"Kai will definitely be very strong in the future. You'd better worry about yourself. You've rested long enough; why haven't you started training?" Teacher Chen appeared silently behind Shiranui Genma and said.
"How can he walk without making any sound?" Grumbling inwardly, Shiranui Genma quickly got up and started training.
Before Teacher Chen could even speak, Ebisu tactfully stood up and started training. He couldn't change the past, but he could start working hard from now on.
Yesterday, the dog at home kept barking for some reason and I didn't sleep well. I'm not in good shape today, so I'm a bit late. There's still another chapter later.
