Chapter 274: Surveying Konoha's Famous Strong
Ninja Academy Teacher: I Get Stronger Just by Teaching – Main Story Chapter 192: Inventory of Konoha's Famous Strong. The first to arrive was Minato; whenever he had time, he would basically come to help Muyue with some work, never freeloading a meal.
When Minato came in and saw Kakashi and Obito sitting in the living room, he paused slightly, then quickly smiled and greeted them.
"Minato-sensei." Obito and Kakashi weren't surprised to see Minato.
Even though this wasn't their home or Minato's home, they always ran into each other here, so there was nothing unexpected about it.
After a brief greeting with his students, Minato went to the kitchen to help.
A few minutes after Minato went inside, Might Guy also arrived. Seeing Kakashi and the others there, he showed a surprised expression and greeted them with a bright smile:
"My eternal rival! Even though we're not on the same team anymore, our bond is stronger than ever! How about a lively taijutsu battle?"
"No, we're about to eat." Kakashi flatly refused.
"What a shame." Might Guy felt a little regretful; he had sensed his taijutsu had improved a bit recently and wanted to test it against Kakashi.
"Guy, who are your teammates after the reassignment?" Obito asked curiously.
"Genma and Ebisu." Might Guy glanced at Muyue, who was busy in the kitchen, then sat down and answered.
Since he was already here, Might Guy decided to ask Muyue after the meal whether she was willing to meet with Teacher Chen.
"Oh, them? That's not bad. Their strength is pretty solid for fourth-years, and they're decent people." Obito thought for a moment and said.
"Yeah, they're reliable as comrades." Might Guy gave a thumbs-up and praised with a hearty laugh.
If Ebisu hadn't used a feint technique at the critical moment to confuse Teacher Chen, and Shiranui Genma hadn't timely spat out his senbon, he probably wouldn't have snatched that bell.
After reminiscing with Might Guy for a while, Obito suddenly remembered his grandmother mentioning the Uchiha exchange meeting, so he asked Shisui:
"Shisui, did you receive an invitation to that young ninja exchange meeting?"
Shisui nodded.
"Young ninja exchange meeting? What kind of event is that? I've never heard of it. And besides, isn't Shisui still going to the ninja academy?" Kakashi asked, somewhat confused.
Kakashi felt that the words "young" and "ninja" couldn't be associated with Shisui at all.
"It's an event within the Uchiha clan. In theory, you only get an invitation after becoming a ninja, but the clan leader thought the Uchiha should interact more, so he sent me one too." Shisui explained briefly.
Hearing it was an Uchiha-only event, Kakashi immediately lost interest; such things weren't even allowed for outsiders to watch.
"I heard there are rewards at this exchange meeting. Shisui, do you know what they are?" Obito asked curiously. If the rewards were mediocre, he wouldn't go, since it would waste training time.
Shisui recalled what Fugaku had told him, then replied: "If you perform well, there's a chance to get a high-level fire release, and also some ninja tools and secret medicines."
Hearing "high-level fire release," Obito perked up in an instant. Even though he had just learned a powerful fire technique from Muyue, you could never have too many jutsu. Besides, maybe it would be one Muyue didn't know, and he could practice it with her as a way to repay her.
"So, Shisui, are you going? If you are, we can go together. I got invited too." For the sake of a high-level fire release, Obito decided to check out what the exchange meeting was like.
"Alright, we'll go together then." Shisui nodded in agreement.
He had already planned to go when Fugaku invited him, but not for the high-level jutsu—he wanted to get to know the younger generation of Uchiha ninja.
Having done a lot of Konoha history questions and listened to Muyue talk about history, he had discovered a problem: the state of the Uchiha today had a lot to do with many of its members.
Not long after the village was founded, the clan leader defected from Konoha, later returned and caused a huge disturbance, and finally ended up fighting the First Hokage to create a famous Fire Country landmark, the Valley of the End.
That still wasn't the end. After Hashirama Senju died and Tobirama Senju became the Second Hokage, another Uchiha incident occurred. Regardless of the nature of the sabotage, this time was even worse than the Madara Uchiha incident, because the Uchiha hawk faction wanted to launch a coup to seize the Hokage position.
Therefore, Shisui wanted to observe whether the younger generation of Uchiha had more doves or hawks. If there were more hawks, he feared that the coup attempt from the Second Hokage era might repeat itself.
When the food was almost ready, Muyue called her students to the table to prepare for the meal.
Minato picked up his lunchbox, said goodbye to Muyue, Obito, and the others.
"Minato-sensei, why don't you just eat here? You don't have any missions for the next few days, right?" Obito asked, puzzled, watching Minato pack up to leave.
He felt Minato's behavior was really strange—coming every day to help Muyue cook but always taking the food away to eat.
Minato looked pensive, trying to think of a reasonable explanation for his actions.
Smack!
Muyue shot out a qi force, accurately hitting Obito's forehead with a crisp sound, and said:
"The world doesn't only have missions that keep people busy. Besides, the food Minato packed in the box can be eaten anytime. If you don't hurry, the tasty stuff will be finished by others."
At Muyue's reminder, Obito noticed that Kakashi, Might Guy, and Shisui were already silently engrossed in devouring their food.
Obito quickly activated his Sharingan to enhance his perception and began eating at full intensity, no longer concerned about Minato's dining.
Minato smiled and exchanged a glance with Muyue, then took Muyue's dish to find Kushina.
After the meal, several disciples helped Muyue clean up, and then it was time for after-dinner chat. Might Guy and Muyue brought up the matter regarding Teacher Chen.
"Muyue-sensei, do you have time recently? My instructor, Teacher Chen, wants to discuss some training issues with you."
"Teacher Chen, huh? No problem. Tell him tomorrow. I'm free all this week, so he can choose the meeting time." Muyue thought for a moment and replied.
In his previous life, neither the anime nor the manga had any information about Might Guy's instructor, so after the team assignments came out, Muyue used his authority at the Ninja Academy to get a look at it as soon as possible.
What surprised him was that Might Guy's instructor turned out to be Teacher Chen, the one who developed the Wood Leaf Dragon God.
However, Muyue quickly realized that this was the result of his butterfly effect. In the anime, Might Guy's interaction with Teacher Chen didn't seem like that of a master and disciple.
He guessed that it was because Might Guy had displayed such outstanding taijutsu talent that the assignment changed. Such a taijutsu genius couldn't just be assigned to any jonin.
"I can use this opportunity to reveal part of my taijutsu ability," Muyue thought.
When taijutsu users discuss training, it's only natural to spar. If Teacher Chen used the Wood Leaf Dragon God, it would lay the groundwork for Muyue using it later.
"Mm, I understand." Might Guy nodded.
"So your instructor is Teacher Chen, Guy. If it's him, he really is a good fit to be your instructor." Kakashi recalled some information about Teacher Chen.
Teacher Chen was hailed as Konoha's strongest taijutsu user, proficient in all kinds of taijutsu.
"Who is Teacher Chen? Is he strong? I've never even heard that name." Obito heard Kakashi's words and asked curiously; he had no impression of the name.
"How many strong ninja names do you actually know? Aside from Muyue-sensei and Minato-sensei." Kakashi glanced at Obito and said flatly.
Kakashi thought that other than being strong in one-on-one combat, Obito was a total mess in every other aspect.
Seeing Kakashi belittle his knowledge, Obito became defiant. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Third Hokage, the Toad Sage, and…"
After saying the second name, Obito stalled. His mind raced but he couldn't come up with a third.
Kakashi sighed in exasperation, lightly rubbing his forehead, and said, "You might as well say you don't know any. The Third Hokage's name is Sarutobi Hiruzen, and Lord Jiraiya isn't called 'Toad Sage.'"
"Tsunade!" Obito suddenly thought of a name—the kunoichi Rin admired, one of the Sannin along with Jiraiya.
"So you know one. And then?" Kakashi asked calmly.
Obito scratched his head, unable to think of any other notable strong ninja, so he said defiantly, "Then how many can you name? And you can't mention the ones I already said."
"Shimura Danzō, the village's Hokage advisor, a disciple of the Second Hokage, and very powerful.
Orochimaru, a disciple of the Third Hokage, also one of the Sannin like Lord Jiraiya…" Kakashi rattled off the names of many strong Konoha jonin as if reciting a list.
"As expected of my rival, you sure know a lot." Might Guy gave Kakashi a thumbs-up. In this area, he and Obito were about the same.
Realizing he was completely outmatched, Obito could only steer the conversation back to Teacher Chen's strength. "So just how strong is this Teacher Chen?"
"I heard from Ebisu that he is Konoha's strongest taijutsu user, but I feel that Muyue-sensei's taijutsu is probably not inferior to Teacher Chen's." Might Guy said honestly.
He was relatively knowledgeable, having once witnessed the battle between Might Duy (using the Sixth Gate) and Muyue.
Neither side used their full power in that battle—Might Duy didn't open the Seventh Gate, and Muyue only opened two Gates plus Total Concentration Breathing—but it was still shocking enough to Guy at the time.
"Muyue-sensei, can you beat that Teacher Chen using only taijutsu?" Blunt Obito chose to ask Muyue directly.
"Teacher Chen is very strong in taijutsu, but I shouldn't lose." Muyue replied with a smile.
"So that means you'll definitely win." Obito interpreted Muyue's words in his own way.
Whack!
Muyue knocked on Obito's head.
Obito chuckled twice, feeling that what he said wasn't wrong. The other disciples also believed Muyue was capable of it.
Especially Might Guy, who simultaneously cultivated the Eight Gates and Rock Breathing, knowing just how terrifying the power could be when these two forbidden techniques were used together. With only a year of training, he had already reached this level—how strong must Muyue be after training for who knows how long?
There's still one more chapter later.
