Chapter 9: Shocked Obito
Obito, who was doing the questions, couldn't help but look up when he heard the two talking, and then froze.
He recognized Shisui.
The Uchiha clan lived together, all within the clan grounds designated by Konoha, so members of the same generation more or less knew about each other.
After all, they were from the same clan; even if you hadn't met someone, you'd heard about them—for example, a genius like Shisui often appeared in the conversations of elders as "someone else's child," making it hard not to know him.
Obito was a little puzzled: why was Shisui here, and why did he seem so familiar with Muyue?
"Could Teacher Haryū be a distant relative of Shisui?" An unreliable guess popped into Obito's head.
"Teacher, I'm done!"
While Obito was lost in thought, Might Guy next to him suddenly shouted in a vigorous voice.
"That fast?" Obito was stunned; he didn't think he'd stopped for long, so how had Guy finished already?
Curious, Obito craned his neck to look, and saw that Guy had only done the first three multiple-choice questions, leaving the rest blank.
Obito didn't know what to say for a moment, because the whole test had only ten questions—four multiple-choice and six short-answer.
Even though he didn't know how to answer many of them either, he would choose to fill in as much of the test paper as possible to make it look better.
Hearing Guy's words, Muyue walked over and checked his answers; he got two wrong, only the first one right.
"Sorry, teacher, I…" Guy looked at the three questions he'd answered, two of which were wrong, and was momentarily at a loss for words.
"It's fine. It's normal not to know; if you already knew, you wouldn't need me to teach you." Muyue consoled him with a smile.
"Don't let a low score get you down. Look at it from another angle—you have a lot of room for improvement. After all, going from five points to twenty-five is definitely easier than going from eighty to one hundred."
Hearing Muyue's words, Guy's body trembled. Having always been treated as the dead last and left to his own devices, he received encouragement for the first time from someone other than his father.
"Teacher, you're right! I have a lot of room for improvement!" Guy's momentum instantly soared.
After that, Guy listened very attentively to Muyue's explanations, trying his best to understand even the difficult parts.
Next was Obito. Obito had filled in six questions, but only got two right.
Muyue treated Obito the same way as Guy—first comforting him, then explaining the problems.
After finishing the explanations, Muyue took out two more test papers of the same type and handed them to the two.
"We have to do more?" Obito's eyes strayed toward Shisui, who had started practicing Fire Style.
"Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique!" Shisui formed hand seals at lightning speed, instantly spitting out a huge fireball two meters high toward the river.
Watching the enormous fireball, Obito was deeply impressed, thinking to himself that this was the renowned genius of the clan for a reason.
As an Uchiha, he also knew this classic technique, the Great Fireball.
But his own Great Fireball—in both size and power—was nothing but a tiny fireball compared to Shisui's.
"Another genius like Kakashi?"
Might Guy, who didn't know Shisui, looked at his figure and appearance—at most six or seven years old—and was amazed that he could use such a powerful technique.
This reminded Guy of Kakashi, the rival he had sworn to surpass.
The Ninja Academy had three terms: first term from April to July, then summer break; second term from September to December, then winter break. After winter break came the third term.
And Kakashi hadn't even finished the second term before applying for early graduation—and passing. One could imagine how much of a genius he was.
And right now, the feeling Shisui gave Guy was the same as a young Kakashi.
Next, Shisui began practicing the Great Dragon Fire Technique.
Seeing that Shisui even knew another Fire Style technique, Might Guy became even more astonished—he had been practicing the three basic academy techniques for three years and still felt he was barely learning them.
Watching Shisui control the fire dragon as it soared through the sky, Obito was extremely envious. If he could pull off something like that, he would surely impress Rin.
"I can see that your shape transformation has improved a lot since the first time; the fire dragon is faster. You must have practiced a lot when you went home yesterday." Muyue commented, praising him.
"It's mainly because your training manual helped me a lot, Teacher Muyue." Shisui smiled at the praise and said.
"Let me demonstrate it for you one more time."
Muyue walked to the front of Shisui, clapped his hands together, rapidly gathered and compressed the chakra in his body, and in an instant opened his mouth to spit out three enormous fire dragons.
Looking at the three enormous fire dragons burning fiercely and ferociously, Obito was dumbfounded.
A second ago, he thought Shisui's Great Fire Dragon was cool, but after Muyue's Great Fire Dragon appeared, Obito's opinion changed.
The two weren't using the same jutsu at all — the fire dragon Shisui released and the one Muyue released were like the difference between a snake and a loach. And why was the speed so fast? It felt like he didn't even form hand seals.
The three enormous fire dragons flew swiftly across the sky, leaving trails of fire in their flight paths, and finally formed several large characters in the air.
"Stop staring and hurry up with your problems." Obito read the characters in the sky aloud, and then noticed Muyue looking at him with a harmonious smile.
Obito was startled for a moment, then explained:
"I was just tired from studying and looked at the sky for a bit."
He glanced sidelong at Might Guy and saw that Might Guy, who had been watching with him, had instantly picked up his pen and was doing problems, reacting very quickly.
"So, have you seen enough now?" Muyue asked.
"Enough, enough." Obito also hurriedly picked up his pen and began working on the problems.
After doing problems for a while, Obito couldn't help but stop his pen and ask, "Teacher Yusheng, what is your relationship with Shisui?"
"Teacher and student. What did you think it was?" Muyue glanced at Might Guy's test paper and replied.
"Hehe, I thought it seemed like master and disciple too." Obito didn't mention his earlier far-fetched guess.
"Teacher Yusheng, if I pass the exam, can you teach me that jutsu you just used?" Obito continued.
In his mind, he was already imagining the scene of showing off his new jutsu to Rin Nohara — in other words, he was ready to pop the champagne.
"Of course you can." Muyue nodded.
"Really?" Obito's face was full of surprise.
"Really."
"Teacher Yusheng, what taijutsu have you mastered?" Might Guy looked at Muyue with expectation.
Although he also thought Muyue looked cool using the Great Fire Dragon Technique, Might Guy's goal was clear — he only trained in taijutsu!
Muyue didn't say anything but walked up to a large tree, gathered chakra in his foot, tensed his muscles, and then kicked out a whirlwind kick at an extremely fast speed.
With a crack, the large tree quickly fell, stirring up a cloud of dust.
"Do you like this taijutsu?" Muyue retracted his foot, dusted off the dirt, and smiled at Might Guy.
