Thoughts on Completing the Volume and a Request for Monthly Tickets

Another volume has come to an end.

Thank you all for following along this far (bows in salute). This volume may be titled "The Empire's Ambitions, Laughed Over in Idle Talk," but leafing through the annals of history, before those grand ambitions were ever achieved, that stretch was often the most desolate part of the historical record.

Before I started writing, I read through a great deal of history. I noticed that whenever chaos rose, fresh young names would appear, and watching the famed generals those names stood for go forth to punish the rebels, defeat enemy commanders, and stabilize the realm, I found myself paying them a little extra attention for no particular reason.

Sometimes a sense of familiarity would come over me: trouble would break out in some corner of the land, and the moment I saw that familiar name appear, my heart would settle in an instant.

And indeed, more often than not, those familiar names were the ones who quelled the chaos. But then again, sometimes the ending turned out completely different — those names failed, withered, and died on the battlefield.

At those moments, a single plain line of text would suddenly feel unbearably bleak and lonely.

Long union must split, long division must unite; the rise and the end of an age of chaos always follow this pattern.

Since friend and foe alike are all those bold heroes, they ought to have their own resolve and convictions.

Would it not be a shame if they were all nothing but a swarm of petty schemers scrambling after scraps?

This is a muddled mess and I don't quite know what I'm saying. On January 2nd, updates should resume.
