Chapter 68: Call Me Husband Again
Gu Wenyan suddenly felt her ears burning, becoming incredibly hot.
She reached out to rub her earlobes, her voice soft and gentle: "I think I miss you a little bit, too."
"Just a little bit?"
"How about... a little bit more than a little bit?"
Bo Si Han laughed: "Alright, have you been happy today?"
"I wouldn't say happy or unhappy."
Gu Wenyan told him what was in her heart; she could only tell him.
"You know, I just hope they can care about me, instead of giving the love and care that should have been mine to the person who stole everything."
Bo Si Han listened silently as Gu Wenyan poured out her feelings, then comforted her softly: "I know. Whatever you want to do, I will support you."
"Then you must not be jealous or angry, okay? Although it is true that... I might spend a little more time on them, your status is different from theirs."
"What? What is my status?" the man asked, knowing the answer perfectly well.
Gu Wenyan's face flushed red; she bit her lip, and after a long silence, she said: "You are my... my husband. We are married, aren't we?"
The reflection of Bo Si Han in front of the floor-to-ceiling window darkened; he wished he could rush to Gu Wenyan immediately, grab her waist, and kiss her lips fiercely...
As time passed, his feelings for Gu Wenyan became increasingly uncontrollable.
Yet, she kept tempting him, even though she might be completely unaware of it herself.
But when Gu Wenyan said those words in her soft, light tone, the blood in Bo Si Han's body surged uncontrollably, like magma building up immense energy before an eruption.
"Yan Yan." Bo Si Han's voice had become hoarse at some point; he lowered his voice and coaxed her, word by word, "What did you just call me?"
"I didn't call you anything; I didn't say anything at all..."
Gu Wenyan refused to admit it, but Bo Si Han was not the type of person to let her brush him off so easily.
"You should get used to it." A low laugh circled in Gu Wenyan's ear, that magnetic tone truly too alluring, "We are already married, so will you call me that again?"
"Are... are you sure?"
"Why wouldn't I be sure?" Bo Si Han called her name softly again, "Or do you need me to call you that first, and then you can..."
"No, never mind, I'll call you, okay?! Goodnight, husband!"
After saying that, Gu Wenyan hurriedly hung up the phone; she didn't dare to hear Bo Si Han call her "wife."
She would surely die of embarrassment.
Gu Wenyan felt that she really did like Bo Si Han a little bit now.
This man... despite the many paranoid and dangerous elements in his personality, what he brought to her was always different.
So at this moment, Gu Wenyan hoped she could learn to gradually enjoy this relationship; at the very least, in this world, there would never be another person like him who, when she was dying, could hold her and walk toward death with her.
Therefore, Gu Wenyan would never betray his feelings.
After gradually becoming familiar with Bo Si Han, she also felt a trust from him that she had never experienced before.
While sleeping, Gu Wenyan was still thinking that she still had some regrets about not waking up to this sooner, which caused her and Bo Si Han to waste many days.
But it's alright... it's not too late for all of this now.
As long as Bo Si Han is there, Gu Wenyan believes in her future, and she will eventually, one day, give Bo Si Han the sincere heart that belongs to him.
Waking up in the morning, neither Gu Yeting nor Gu Mianmian were at home; Gu Wenyan guessed that she must be clinging to Gu Yeting today, trying to maximize her presence in front of him.
That way, Gu Yeting wouldn't waste time on her...
In Gu Wenyan's view, everything Gu Mianmian was doing now was a desperate struggle, so she couldn't be bothered to interfere.
She went to the courtyard to take a look at the flowers Gu Mianmian had planted, then curled her lips slightly and returned to her room to attend to her own affairs.
While upstairs, Gu Wenyan received a call. On the other end, a very kind and gentle voice spoke up: "Little Yan Yan, when are you planning to come back and visit us old folks?"
"Grandpa Song! It's just that I've been busy with a lot of things lately, you know? How about I come back to see you all in a few days?"
"Fine, as long as you still keep us in your thoughts, don't just forget about us entirely once you've left..."
"I won't, I won't! Please don't worry, I'm not that kind of person!"
"Haha, I'm just teasing you. We old folks watched you grow up, of course we know you aren't that kind of person!"
Gu Wenyan chatted with Grandpa Song for a while, and only hung up when she heard a knock on her door. She walked out to see that the person standing outside was Gu Mianmian.
"When did you get back? I thought you went out to play today."
Gu Mianmian wore an innocent and kind smile, showing off a little: "Brother took me out for an excursion today, but the sun wasn't very good in the afternoon, so we came back."
"Sister, are you very bored at home?"
"Why?"
"If you're very bored, I signed you up for an activity that's quite fun. Do you want to go take a look?"
Gu Wenyan narrowed her eyes: "You already signed me up?"
"Ah, Sister, I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you first. If you don't want to go, I'll go help you apply for a cancellation now. Although it's a bit troublesome, they probably won't mind."
Gu Wenyan curled her lips slowly: "What is this activity you signed me up for?"
"It's just a Reading Club. Everyone participating is a friend from our circles. Actually, this Reading Club is quite interesting. I thought you were bored at home... you might as well learn something. After all, you didn't go to university, and Mom would definitely be very happy if she knew you went to participate!"
A Reading Club? How interesting.
"What do people do at this Reading Club?"
"It seems like everyone just reads a book and talks about their feelings. Don't worry, it won't be very hard. Everyone can communicate and meet more friends..."
Gu Mianmian persuaded her: "And they are all from our circles; everyone knows you are a member of the Gu Family, so they won't make things difficult for you."
Gu Wenyan looked at the registration form in Gu Mianmian's hand and pulled it out directly: "I will go."
After saying that, she closed the door.
"Hmph... this time at the Reading Club, I will definitely make you lose face..."
Gu Mianmian smiled eerily at the door.
In fact, this Reading Club, while called a reading club, is just a gathering of young masters and misses from the circle who have studied abroad or have excellent academic backgrounds, chatting about what they consider to be high-brow literature.
Most of the time, it is just to build a studious persona for themselves; they are not actually very serious.
But at the very least, they have good academic backgrounds, unlike Gu Wenyan... who didn't even attend university.
