Chapter 69: The One and Only Female Master
Gu Mianmian was certain that at this Reading Club, Gu Wenyan would definitely embarrass herself.
So she was very much looking forward to seeing Gu Wenyan show up…
And Gu Wenyan, knowing exactly what Gu Mianmian was thinking, was happy to play along.
It's just a Reading Club, isn't it?
Gu Wenyan was quite curious to see just how cultured these so-called young masters and misses of high society actually were.
But the Reading Club was still two days away, so Gu Wenyan wasn't in a hurry. Right now, she wanted to spend time with Bao Sihan.
So in the evening, she didn't eat at the Gu Family either. After getting in touch with Bao Sihan, she headed straight for the Bo Family estate.
Having been there several times now, Gu Wenyan was becoming more and more familiar with the place. However, the butler must have received advance notice today, so he specifically arranged for Lan Tian to stay in the back courtyard, not letting her wander around in front of Gu Wenyan.
Not seeing Lan Tian, Gu Wenyan actually felt a bit of regret. She always felt that… if Lan Tian appeared before her, she would surely leak all sorts of provocative attitudes again.
Bao Sihan rushed back almost the moment Gu Wenyan arrived home.
"Don't you still have a meeting to attend?"
"Cancelled. We'll deal with it tomorrow."
The man walked up to her, took her hand directly and held it in his palm: "What do you want to eat tonight? I'll have the kitchen arrange it."
"Just some home-cooked food will do. Mainly… I missed you, so I wanted to come keep you company."
The man's gaze darkened: "Yan Yan, you saying things like that only makes me more and more reluctant to send you back."
He raised an eyebrow: "How about staying here tonight?"
Bao Sihan's ink-black eyes stared fixedly at Gu Wenyan, making her heart pound, and even the heat of her body began to burn.
She flustered and looked away: "How's your company been lately?"
"No problems, don't worry." Bao Sihan dismissed everyone and sat with Gu Wenyan on the living room sofa.
His scorching gaze always lingered on her face. Every time she was watched by him like this, Gu Wenyan would become especially nervous.
She always felt as if she were a pitiful prey on the grassland, and Bao Sihan… was a fierce beast lurking in the bushes, already baring its fangs, aimed at her neck, ready to bite through it at any moment.
A chill crept up Gu Wenyan's back. Besides that indescribable panic, there was also a sense of shyness.
Seeing the unease on the woman's face, Bao Sihan curled his lips, took mercy, and decided to let her off for now.
He shouldn't bully her too much, or he'd scare her off and she'd be afraid to come back. That would be more loss than gain…
Dinner was, as Gu Wenyan had said, just home-cooked dishes. But even so, the Bo Family's head chef's standards were exceptionally high.
The food was delicious, stunning.
"This time, the Leiting Charity Foundation's problems were all solved thanks to you?"
Bao Sihan asked casually during the meal.
"Yes." Gu Wenyan smiled, not hiding anything. "Originally I planned to talk to them about cooperation, but I didn't expect to happen upon them running into a problem with counterfeits."
"If I hadn't helped at that moment, I suppose there wouldn't have been anyone else who could have helped them."
Bao Sihan said in a low voice: "Gu Yeting should be the one counting himself lucky to have a sister like you. And yet he still dares to…"
Thinking of his attitude toward Gu Wenyan, Bao Sihan snorted coldly, and his dissatisfaction with Gu Yeting grew more and more.
If it weren't for Gu Wenyan's sake, he reckoned he would have gone straight for Gu Yeting to teach him a lesson.
Because of Gu Wenyan, now he couldn't do anything, afraid of making her unhappy.
Once you have someone you love, no matter what you do, you start to have reservations.
No longer so reckless and unrestrained.
Even though to the outside world, Bao Sihan was precisely this kind of person who always acted on impulse, ruthless in his methods, never leaving any room for sentiment.
"Can I go take a look at your room?" After dinner, Gu Wenyan suddenly asked Bao Sihan.
The man narrowed his eyes: "Yan Yan, do you know what you're saying?"
Gu Wenyan blinked innocently: "I didn't mean it that way, I'm just really curious about your room…"
She hadn't overthought it at all, yet this man could take a simple sentence and turn it into a loaded hint.
Her face red, she found him a little hard to take.
Bao Sihan laughed softly: "Alright, I was just teasing you. Come on, I'll take you to my room."
Gu Wenyan was genuinely just curious about what Bao Sihan's room would look like. She wondered if a man like him, his room would be…
Monotonous and cold to the extreme, without a shred of warmth?
Reality proved her guess correct. Bao Sihan's room was dominated by gray tones. The spacious bedroom had almost no extra furnishings—nothing but a bed and a nightstand.
It was filled with a cold, austere texture.
"Later, we can move into the newly renovated building. You won't have to stay in this room anymore. Whatever style you like, we can design it all according to your preferences."
Standing behind Gu Wenyan, Bao Sihan stared at the back of her head and told her, word by word, that for him, her preferences were what mattered most.
As for Bao Sihan himself, he found it troublesome and disliked anything beyond his habitual perception, so he didn't like excessive decoration in his room.
But he couldn't bear to let Gu Wenyan live in such a monotonous room.
He liked simplicity, but he knew Gu Wenyan might prefer something warm and lively.
Gu Wenyan tilted her head slightly: "If I put lots of flowers and plants in the room, would you allow it?"
"Why wouldn't I?"
The man stepped forward, his burning chest almost pressing against Gu Wenyan's back. From a distance, it looked like a posture of embracing her from behind.
Bao Sihan's fingers rested lightly on her shoulder. Head lowered, his breath, faint and warm, sprayed behind Gu Wenyan's ear: "You are my wife. Whatever you do is as it should be. In this home, you are the one and only female master."
The tips of Gu Wenyan's ears flushed red. She turned around hurriedly: "Got it. Let's talk about it after I move in… I'm going to the washroom."
She needed to wash her face and bring the temperature of her cheeks back to normal, otherwise…
Gu Wenyan felt she was about to burst into flames any second.
Whoever dares to say Bao Sihan doesn't understand romance again—she would definitely think that person has a problem. Isn't he quite good at flirting?
Every single time, it left her with absolutely no way to fight back!
When Gu Wenyan found the restroom... she happened to run into Lan Tian as well.
Lan Tian was wearing the Bo Family servants' standard uniform, while Gu Wenyan was in a simply-cut dress, light gray, with a very nice texture, lending her an extremely elegant air.
It formed a stark contrast with Lan Tian's ordinary appearance at that moment.
Lan Tian's face changed, and she lowered her head: "Miss Gu."
Gu Wenyan couldn't be bothered to correct Lan Tian's form of address. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard her call out to stop her.
