Chapter 804: The Most Unique Aspect (Thank You, Mr

~8 min read 1,554 words

The One True God... what does that mean? There cannot be another "Primordial Witch," whether in a mirror or in a painting? Fleurca pondered the final words of the "Black Witch," sensing they concealed profound and crucial esoteric knowledge.

As for Clarisse's speculation that the Primordial Witch's reflection in the mirror had undergone some anomaly, Fleurca had already thought the same—when the "Black Witch" obtained the jet-black statue of the "Primordial Witch," she had casually remarked, "Those 'Mirror People' worship the Primordial within the mirror, but that is merely a reflection of the Primordial in the mirror," without elaborating further; at the time, Fleurca had already suspected the Primordial Witch's mirror reflection might have become anomalous.

But the problem lies in this: if we build upon this speculation, it explains well why, after the Pale War, the "Witches" further lost control over that special mirror world—because, as Fleurca knew, during the Pale Catastrophe, the "Death God" fell and the "Primordial Witch" suffered severe damage; such a Primordial could not possibly prevent the mirror reflection from descending deeper into anomaly, thus losing effective control over the corresponding special mirror world and its reflection, which also caused her to remain crippled for over a thousand years.

Fleurca reasoned that if even her shallow understanding of the Pale Catastrophe could lead to this conclusion, the "Black Witch" could not possibly fail to explain it—unless she was completely unaware of the outcome of the Pale Catastrophe, or had already obtained other compelling evidence ruling out the possibility that the Primordial Witch's severe injury during the Divine War caused the "Witches" to lose further control over that special mirror world.

After some thought, Fleurca carefully asked:

"Was the black statue I submitted earlier possible evidence of the Primordial's mirror reflection becoming anomalous?"

The "Black Witch" neither nodded nor shook her head, but instead taught like an instructor of esoteric knowledge:

"The most unique node in our 'Assassin' Path is Rank 7, 'Witch'—not only because it changes our gender, but because it imprints upon us a distinct, intense mark within the mirror world; it is precisely this mark that allows us to wield corresponding mirror magic."

This was about the issue of every "Witch's" mirror person... Fleurca suddenly had a flash of insight and seized the opportunity to say:

"Earlier, Moran Avini said the mirror version is truly ourselves—the exiled and sealed self..."

Clarisse shook her head slightly with sorrow:

"I believe Moran Avini didn't lie to you; these 'Mirror People' truly believe that—they believe they are the real ones—but can you fully trust a conclusion drawn from their own standpoint?"

"Have you forgotten your past self, forgotten that indelible pain?"

"No," Fleurca answered sincerely, "I often recall my former self and my former life, often imagining how things might have turned out differently if I hadn't chosen the 'Assassin' elixir."

The "Black Witch" nodded with pity:

"We still remember; we have not forgotten—so there can be no true exile of our original self. If one day we no longer suffer from loss, forget the past, and become immersed in our current state, only then might the intense mark we left in the mirror become mystically activated, causing cognitive confusion and gradual loss of control."

In this regard, having once been male and always longing for our former male self is our primary advantage in preserving our identity and avoiding loss of control.

"Then aren't purely female 'Witches' extremely dangerous?" Fleurca feigned sudden enlightenment, letting her thoughts wander.

She was actually worried about Jianna.

"There are no purely female 'Witches,'" Clarisse replied coldly.

Should one be killed if encountered? And if not for the underground burial ground's ritual plaza, Jianna would have lost control and died during her ascent to 'Witch'... Fleurca did not probe further, fearing suspicion from the "Black Witch."

Clarisse continued:

"Apart from products of the special mirror world, everyone has a mirror person; every time we look into a mirror, a mirror person is generated—but for those outside the 'Witch' Path, such mirror persons are temporary projections; once the person leaves the mirror's reflection, the corresponding mirror person rapidly dissipates and ceases to exist."

"But we 'Witches' are different: the mirror person formed by the intense mark will always exist, growing stronger as we ascend in rank; at the divine stage, due to the One True God principle, the mark returns to the self and fuses with it—after that, one exists simultaneously as both physical reality and mirror entity, possessing both states at once."

This resembles what Moran Avini said—the "Black Witch" also did not deny that the intense mark we leave in the mirror can be called a mirror person... Both she and Moran Avini spoke partial truths, but not the full truth; perhaps only by piecing them together could we reconstruct some believable facts... Fleurca nodded thoughtfully:

"So the appearance of that black statue is abnormal—it should have already fused with the original self?"

"This is also why we suspect the Primordial lost some of its qualities and its mirror reflection may have become anomalous," Clarisse affirmed Fleurca's statement.

But by this logic, the white statues on every member of the Witch cult should not exist either... The "Primordial Witch" is also called the "Chaos Witch"—she should be neither white nor black, unless the white of the white statue and the black of the black statue represent not the real self and the mirror self, but another kind of opposition... Fleurca dared not voice these spontaneous thoughts.

The "Black Witch" continued:

"Jet-black statues are rare—not every special 'Mirror Person' possesses one, not even someone like Moran Avini, who holds considerable status and importance."

"Who exactly can possess one remains unknown."

Of course... Fleurca froze, regretting she hadn't asked Moran Avini about the black "Primordial Witch" statue.

She and Lu Mi had both assumed it was unimportant to investigate:

Wasn't it just the special entity worshipped by the "Mirror People"?

Why not directly ask for the deity's true name and related information? No need to dwell on the origin of one statue...

Fleurca showed signs of frustration, then cautiously asked:

"Shouldn't we strive to break the seal on Fourth Era Trill, so that the special mirror world is no longer restricted, allowing the Primordial to regain control and complete the fusion?"

"Then why do we still need to eliminate 'Mirror People'?"

The "Black Witch" spoke solemnly:

"Opening it ourselves is entirely different from them opening it."

Was it about which statue—the white or the black—dominated? Fleurca, a transmigrator well-read in countless books, had no shortage of imagination.

The "Black Witch" gave her no chance to ask:

"What we must do now is eliminate the 'Mirror People' of Trill, destroy their schemes; if we can gather vital intelligence from the deepest layers of the special mirror world during this process, so much the better."

"Yes, Madam," Fleurca seized the moment to make a request, "I am tracking a 'Mirror Person' and need items that allow travel through mirrors and communication via mirrors—I've nearly exhausted the uses of my 'Mirror Clasp.'"

The "Black Witch," Clarisse, nodded gently:

"Very well, I will prepare them for you."

She paused, then added:

"Remember, the mirror world is both mysterious and dangerous, yet also a primary source of our 'Witch' power—do not resist approaching it, but do not underestimate it either."

"Compared to the 'Hunter' Path, the mirror world is our most unique aspect."

The most unique aspect... Fleurca suddenly felt the "Black Witch" was hinting that the mirror world's importance far exceeded her imagination.

After further exchanging secrets of the Witch cult and esoteric knowledge of the "Assassin" Path, Fleurca raised her final question:

"Madam, can the 'Pain Witch's' 'Disease' expand the types of pathogens?"

"You mean?" The "Black Witch" furrowed her brows slightly, looking pitiable.

"I mean, can we seek out special pathogens and find ways to integrate them into our 'Disease' ability? Pneumonia, cerebral infarction, cardiac arrest—these are powerful, yes, but too unimaginative. I recall some pathogens cause extreme drowsiness, others render muscles completely powerless..." Fleurca elaborated her idea.

The "Black Witch" remained silent for several seconds before saying:

"Once you become the 'Despair Witch,' you can create your own mystically distinct 'pathogens' with different effects; right now, it's impossible—the scope of 'Disease' is fixed within the Numinous Characteristic, unless..."

"Unless what?" Fleurca asked curiously.

The "Black Witch" spoke with reverence and admiration:

"Unless the Primordial, as the True God of the 'Witch' Path, altered the scope of 'Disease'."

Could it be done like that? This is what a god is—this is how a god influences their own Path? Fleurca was stunned, truly understanding for the first time what the word "True God" represented.

………

Morola, inside the "Carnivore" Bar.

Lu Mi lay on the bed, eyes closed, pretending to sleep, while closely monitoring Zhu Li's movements.

He suspected that Sallyst, the "Witch" who had ostensibly become a lab technician, would come to Zhu Li during the night to exchange vital intelligence she had gathered in Morola.

The night deepened; Lu Mi suddenly felt restless, as if ambiguous particles drifted through the air.

Unbidden, scenes he had witnessed before flashed through his mind—seductive, alluring.
