Chapter 174: Argument 5

"I'm not going." I answered quickly without hesitation.

I saw Shangguan Yun with a gloomy handsome face, his eyes tightly narrowed, revealing nothing but coldness.

"I'm heading back first." I didn't want to waste time standing here with him, I didn't want to become a laughingstock here; I just wanted to quickly leave the scene.

"Are you really leaving?" Shangguan Yun said to me with a bewildered expression.

I nodded at him and turned away ruthlessly, but in truth I also hoped he would grab my hand and stop me; if he had told me not to go, I surely would have stayed. Even though I had slowed my steps, he never showed any intention to hold me back, and at the moment I turned, the tears welling up in my eyes finally spilled over.

He never came after me; my heart ached a little, and I could no longer hold back my tears, which streamed down every inch of my face.

As I was about to reach the school gate, I hastily sniffed and wiped the tears from my face, not wanting the whole school to see me as a joke. When I entered the campus, the guard actually saw me and loudly said, "You're back already? Weren't you supposed to go eat with A Yun?" I turned, gave him a smile, and hurried off; at the moment I smiled at him, his face stiffened a little—perhaps I still couldn't hide the traces of my earlier crying.

After returning to the dormitory, the others had mostly arrived already; they were chatting about funny home stories as usual. I used to be able to join them, but now I had no mood for it, so I blankly walked into the dorm and sat on my bed. I silently gathered my textbooks for class, even though there was still some time before evening self‑study; I just wanted to find something to do to keep myself occupied and to hide my embarrassment.

"Hey, Xuanxuan, weren't you supposed to go eat with Shangguan Yun? Why are you back so soon?" Lulu said, looking at me.

You can't hide the truth with paper, so I bluntly told them that I had just argued with Shangguan Yun on the way, and I recounted the whole incident in detail to vent my anger.

But they reacted with heartless laughter, showing no sympathy at all, and even said I was childish, making a big deal out of such a trivial matter.
