Chapter 1539: Forming a Team to Capture Deng Yufeng

"Fourth Bro, is this mask newly made for you by Tenth Sis? It suits you perfectly, Fourth Bro — looks warm and majestic!" After getting through to the video call with the former Wolf King of the southern wolf pack, Fourth Bro, Xia Qing greeted the old wolf on screen warmly.

The old wolf on screen, wearing his new mask, nodded solemnly.

Yang Jin beside Xia Qing... took notes!

Xia Qing asked again, "The medical equipment I had Huo Zhun deliver to the cave on Mountain Twenty-Eight — after Fourth Bro and Tenth Sis moved it back, can it still be used?"

The solemn Fourth Bro nodded again.

"Good that it still works. How are Fourth Bro's teeth now? The teeth pulled in the first surgery have grown back, right?"

This time the old wolf didn't nod, but extended a big paw and tapped the screen a few times.

Then, Xia Qing received a selfie photo with the date in the lower right corner showing it was taken at two in the morning today. The photo was a close-up of a huge wolf mouth — on the pink gum where teeth had been pulled, the new teeth had grown in as small, sharp points gleaming white, forming a sharp contrast with the grayish-white teeth on either side.

Xia Qing, witnessing the miracle with her own eyes, felt immensely moved inside.

She enlarged the image, carefully examined every newly grown tooth, and very solemnly congratulated the weather-beaten old wolf on the other side: "The two lower tusks, two incisors, and one molar pulled in Fourth Bro's first surgery have all grown back, and the new teeth look sharp and sturdy at first glance. Fourth Bro trusted me, trusted Third Bro and Tenth Sis's medical skills, and the choice to spend over a million points on dental treatment has paid off!"

"Fourth Bro, there are many, many wolves on Blue Star, but you must be the bravest of them all. You're the Wolf King standing at the very top of Blue Star's pyramid, the pride of Blue Star's evolved wolves, and the pride of our Blue Star Territory Alliance too."

"Fourth Bro, you're about to return to your peak, once again becoming the strongest fighter of the southern wolf pack!"

Xia Qing was happy for the old wolf who had undergone surgery, and Yang Jin sitting beside her felt proud because of Xia Qing. There were many evolved wolves on Blue Star, and quite a few with evolved brain domains too, but among humans, only Xia Qing could communicate with evolved wolves and sincerely treat them as equals and companions.

Fourth Bro, who always cared about his personal image, listened to Xia Qing's words, then raised a paw to pull off his mask and grinned broadly at her, showing off his toothless smile.

Xia Qing grinned back too. "I should learn from Fourth Bro and save up more points. When I'm old and have tooth problems, I'll find Third Bro and Tenth Sis for surgery too and get a whole new set of teeth. Good teeth, good appetite, a strong body, and everything tastes great!"

After the human and wolf smiled at each other for a while, Xia Qing got down to business. "Fourth Bro, we've discovered some bad humans from the Blaze Squad who might be hiding in Hui-1 Evolution Forest. My human companion Yang Jin is beside me, he..."

Before Xia Qing could finish, the old wolf on screen had already left.

Xia Qing turned to explain to Yang Jin, "Fourth Bro went to find Tenth Sis to put his mask back on for him. He'll be back in a bit."

Although Fourth Bro and the Broken-Waist Wolf had completely different personalities, they both cared a great deal about their image. So Yang Jin turned around, pulled a wig from his backpack, clipped it onto his head, and adjusted it. "Sister Qing, look — does this make me look really strong in wolf eyes?"

Xia Qing...

Fourth Bro soon reappeared on screen wearing his mask, and on the phone screen in front of him, there was now one more human besides Xia Qing.

Yang Jin greeted him with a bright smile. "Fourth Bro, I'm Yang Jin, a human. It's been a few days, hasn't it? Congratulations on growing sharp, sturdy new teeth, Fourth Bro."

The old wolf on screen stared solemnly at the thick fur on Yang Jin's head, then nodded.

Xia Qing began to brief him. "Fourth Bro, do you remember a few days ago when we called you on Mountain Hui-3-67 and had you chat with the Northern Bear King? That time we caught the Blaze Squad's Number Three Leader — his name is Liao Wendong..."

After the briefing, Xia Qing laid out the mission. "According to the intel Liao Wendong provided, the second peak of Mountain Thirty-Three in the western part of Hui-1 Evolution Forest might be hiding Fourth Bro's enemy — the Number One Leader of the human Blaze Squad, the Fire Phoenix. Her name is Deng Yufeng. You know what she looks like, right?"

Fourth Bro nodded and let out a roar. Because he was in his own cave, he didn't lower his voice, and the roar sounded especially fierce.

In the cave two doors down, the Scarface Little Wolf, Xiao Hei Mei, and the other three little wolves who were watching the video with little Ye Yiyi all pricked up their ears at the same time. Not knowing what was happening, Yiyi widened her eyes along with them.

Beneath the cliff on Mountain Twenty-Two, the Earless Wolf raised its head and began climbing upward at extreme speed.

Zhang Shi, who was writing medical records beside Yiyi, gently comforted them. "Yiyi, Scarface, Xiao Hei Mei, don't be scared. Fourth Bro is on a video call with Sister Qing — he might be talking about something that made him angry."

In Territory Number Three, Northern Zone One of Hui-3, Xia Qing continued communicating with the old wolf. "Good, Fourth Bro's memory is really sharp. Last time, before Fourth Bro launched the beast tide to attack Blaze Mountain, the Fire Phoenix Deng Yufeng escaped with a group of people. Now she might be hiding in a cave or den on the second peak of Mountain Thirty-Three. Yang Jin says that's the territory of the western Hui-1 wolf pack. Does Fourth Bro have a good relationship with the western Hui-1 wolf pack?"

Fourth Bro didn't nod, but raised a paw and traced a "6" in the air.

Xia Qing asked, "Does Fourth Bro mean: you can contact the western Hui-1 wolf pack and get them to cooperate in the capture, but you want sixty percent of the seized supplies?"

Fourth Bro, wearing his pink mask, nodded solemnly.

"Sixty percent is too much." Human-wolf agent Xia Qing disagreed with the distribution Fourth Bro proposed.

After discussion between Xia Qing and Yang Jin, they confirmed that the supplies hidden on Mountain Thirty-Three carried a high acquisition risk and shouldn't be treated as the private stash dug out of Liao Wendong, so they couldn't be distributed under the previously agreed four-way equal split, but should be issued as a separate mission.

The risks in completing this mission mainly came in two parts: first, when Yang Jin's team went to search, the western Hui-1 wolf pack had to stay quiet so as not to alert Deng Yufeng hiding on the second peak of Mountain Thirty-Three. That woman was hiding inside the wolf pack's territory — she was using the wolves as guard dogs.

Second, how to safely capture Deng Yufeng, whose whole body was poisonous, and prevent her from releasing toxins to pollute the evolution forest.

The most reliable way to eliminate the first danger was to cooperate with the western Hui-1 wolf pack. Since that pack hadn't yet joined the Blue Star Territory Alliance, this time Xia Qing was looking for Fourth Bro to act as the middle-wolf.

"Last time we agreed: after finding the bad humans and supplies hidden in the evolution forest, sixty percent of the supplies go to the territory lord, twenty percent to me who issued the mission, and twenty percent to Yang Jin who went to capture the bad guys. But the territory lord of that evolution forest isn't Fourth Bro, so this time you're just the wolf passing along the mission content — you can't take sixty percent."

Fourth Bro refused to nod, raised a paw and tapped the screen a few times, and Xia Qing received a single human character and a punctuation mark from Fourth Bro:

Grab.

Xia Qing asked, "Fourth Bro, do you mean that after you go over, you'll come with us to grab the bad human Deng Yufeng hiding in the mountain? That's why you want a bigger share?"

Fourth Bro nodded solemnly.

"No. Your combat strength hasn't fully recovered, and your protective suit isn't fully enclosed either. This mission's danger rating is too high — wolves aren't suited to join the fight."

Fourth Bro typed back another character: Dog.
